CHAPTER 63

  I’m pushing all my feelings and thoughts aside for now and focusing on the task at hand: getting him sorted and out of the house without being seen. Even though I still think he shouldn’t be lying to our parents and hiding, I don’t want anything to happen to him; I'm trusting that he knows what he’s doing in this and that this was a one-off thing that will go away without a clap back.

  I turn on his shower and check the water temperature before hanging his things on the rack. Taking my time to slow my breathing and calm the inner craziness of my hormones. Dane wanders in after me, and I assume he took his pills. I keep my back to him and gesture at the open door of the cubicle.

  “How do you want to do this?” He asks with a strained tone and nods at the water before I lean and retrieve the holding part.
