Chapter 5: Ghost Eye

After three days, Aciel was finally discharged. He was given basic white clothes and brown jeans to take with him since his old clothes were burned. The only surviving thing he had were his goggles, which he put on his forehead the moment he got the chance to. The cane that he used to get around was another thing they decided to let him keep. "The payment of living was enough" was what the nurse answered when he tried to give it back. The moment of leaving from Raven's Pass Hospital had come for him and he was glad it did. He was getting ready to leave the double doors allowing him to exit the hospital.

The moment Aciel had gripped onto his wooden cane, it felt like this would be the best thing to happen to him as he moved with the nurse out of the hospital as she gave details of his new living conditions. The fact of the matter was Aciel was barely paying attention to it, only listening for where it was and where he could find a job. "You'll be living in a house with a couple of others who've been discharged. You can stay there until you're back on your feet-" The nurse tried to stop herself, realizing Aciel couldn't walk without a cane, but was too late.

Aciel didn't care too much about it, as eventually he wouldn't need it at in a while. The nurse tried to ignore her remark and guided him outside. Once the door had started to open, he was greeted with a crisp, windy air as maple leaves followed it. The outside was filled with maple trees, small wildlife, and people. The sight was beautiful for Aciel to see. The main sight that Aciel paid attention to was a man standing next to a horse connected to a cart with what seemed to be other discharged people in it.

"They're going to the same place you are. Just get into the cart and you'll be at your new home when the horse stops." The woman said as she turned and left back into the hospital. Aciel walked towards the cart with 3 other people in it. A guy and two other women. They seemed to be a set of twins. "Hey there! You must be ghost eye! My name is Omar!" The man said, smiling.

'Ghost eye? Are they talking about my right eye?' Aciel knew that he kept his eye. He was blind from there and to show it, It was foggy and blanketed with the color grey. He stepped into the cart and sat down. "My name is Aciel. I presume we'll be living together" Aciel said as the cart began to move. "Yeah! It's an honor to live with you!" Omar seemed to be a little older than Aciel by a year or two, yet he was very energetic for his age.

"How so?" Aciel questioned. "Well, You're the one who survived. You survived a housefire, being burned alive, and a raid of Teras, losing only your eye! You're a legend in the hospital!" Omar answered. Aciel wasn't one for attention, especially for his horns. This would only add to his problems. While he was thinking, he noticed the two other women in the cart were staring at him. Specifically at his right eye. 'Why did I have to get stuck on the weird cart?' Aciel thought to himself.

As the moments passed and everyone got used to Aciel and his presence, He decided to ask his own questions. "How did you guys get here?" was the first question asked. "I got hit in the noggin a little too hard. As for those twins, I'm pretty sure it's for mental reasons." Aciel could tell Omar was lying about why he was here but he let him keep his reasons for himself. While Aciel sat on that, him and Omar turned towards the set of twins next to them. "What kind of reason?" Aciel further questioned. "They don't speak. They can scream and cry and all that but they don't speak. They do some weird sign language. I can't understand it." Omar finished.

Aciel looked at the twins, expecting them to do this sign language, however his curiosity wasn't answered by them. Hopefully it'd be answered in due time. "So you guys can do that any time you want but when someone asks you to, you can't?" Omar became a little aggravated. The talking between Omar and Aciel never ended on the cart. The talking lasted the whole ride while the twins went to sleep. The seconds became minutes and the minutes became hours. When they thought only 30 minutes had passed, the cart stopped abruptly. "This is your stop, freakshows!" the cart driver yelled. Everyone stepped out and gazed infront of where they stopped at.

It was a two story house made of bricks and stone. A chair and lamp rested on the porch of the building. To top of all off, it looked brand new. Aciel, Omar, and the Twins got out the cart while the one on the horse immediately left once everyone got out. "That guy was just an arse" Omar noted. Aciel agreed with his notion. The twins even seemed annoyed, displaying the sign language Omar had noted. Aciel took noticed it and definitely didn't know what it was but it felt somewhat familiar.

"He may have been an arse, but we have a place to live now." Aciel looked to the bright side of things. It was much better compared to the hospital where they couldn't even go outside. At least this was a home, whereas the four of them don't have homes to go back to. Omar agreed with Aciel and slowly grew a smile. One of the twins went towards the door. Everyone else followed suite. The twin that was at the door was about to open it but stopped herself and spoke to her sibling. The twins both started to point at Aciel. Omar took a guess at what this was.

"You should open it, Gho- Aciel." Omar stumbled on his words as he almost said Ghost Eye. Aciel nodded before setting his hand on a brass doorknob. He twisted his hand and pushed, opening the door. It displayed the inside of the house, without a blemish to be found within it. The floor was made of polished wood, the ceiling had a chandelier made of brass, and the walls were made of cement. Omar entered the house looked like a child in a candy store. "Guys, Welcome Home!" Omar shouted as everyone else entered the house, smiling brightly.
