(Rachael's POV)
I sat at the bar of the restaurant with my eyes looking at a particular spot in a daze. Someone tapped the table to gain my attention.
"What's wrong with you?" Laura asked, looking at me with a frown etched on her face.
I sighed. "The boss said she wants to talk to me, but she still hasn't spoken to me for days now," I relayed my trouble.
Laura maintained her frown as she tried to comprehend what I just said.
"Do you maybe think she intends to fire and send me out to the street?" I asked with my eyes widened and my voice desperate.
"Oh, let's slow down here. Look, the main reason the boss hasn't said anything is that our Adrian is hurt."
Our Adriana? Oh. I almost forgot about her. "How is she, by the way?"
"I don't know. No one has gotten anything from her and the boss seems really busy too," she informed me, and I finally understood why the boss had been gone for a while.
"Phew, I almost thought differently."
"Well." Laura looked around and then leaned down. "I heard you were the one that caused the catastrophe that went down last time in the VIP room." She was sometimes a gossip monger.
I sighed, I guess bad news would forever spread faster than the wind itself. "Yes, it was me."
Her eyes widened like a saucer. "What happened? Why were you even there in the first place?"
I released an air before I went on to tell her everything that happened. Her expression changed throughout the story until I finished.
"You really aren't lucky," was her first comment. "But who could've slapped your ass?" She wondered.
Thinking about it, I never actually took the time to wonder who. "I really don't know, but I got punished for it," I said.
"And you'll get more punishment if you don't go back to work," I heard the manager's voice from a close distance. I stood up immediately, my body rigid as I lowered my head, not having the audacity to raise them up.
"Boss," I heard Laura calling as she walked away. Did the boss send her away?
My palms became sweaty and I rubbed them together. The place was dead quiet and the tense atmosphere made me sweat.
"So you really know how to bring misfortune," she started. "Not only did my best worker get injured, but she also got laid off for clearly not doing her job well," she said.
Woah, hold on, Adriana got fired? What on earth was happening to my ears?!?
"The boss thinks she must be a total waste of time and that should be why he laid her off," she continued.
I was tempted to take a peek and did take a peek, only to see her shaking her head while looking at the floor with a regretful expression. That should be why? Was she even sure?
"You see, you're really nothing but bad luck, and you jinx everybody's life with your bad luck. I regret ever letting you stay here. In fact, you're fired now, leave here immediately before I call the police!" She yelled. "No, I should really call them," she said, grabbing her phone from her bag.
I panicked. Police? No way, she can't do this to me, but before I could beg or protest, she already dialed the number and started speaking. My tense body froze, and my hands turned cold.
"There's no way I'll let you leave here after what you did," she spat.
After what felt like hours, I snapped back to my senses and ran towards the door, planning on escaping, however when I pushed the door open, I saw men in outfits with batches on their shirts. My legs wobbled and I stepped back instinctively.
"You guys are here at the right time. Please arrest this thief." The manager was there in a blink.
"Ma'am, were you the one that called?" One of them asked.
"Yes, it was me. I'm the manager and this lady stole from me," she continued to accuse. Their gazes scanned me from head to toes. They looked doubtful, but that still didn't help me.
"She also threatened to kill me," the manager added. I shook my head when the police moved their gaze towards me.
"I'm sorry miss, but we'd like for you to come with us for some questioning," the other man held my arm, but I kept shaking my head. "Ma'am?" They called the manager when she still stood there.
"Umm. Just take her, I just need to make a few calls," she then apologized to them, and they walked away, pulling me with them.
No. This can't be possible, I kept muttering inside my head. When I saw the car parked in front of us, as if I was possessed, I pushed the policeman holding me and kicked his legs, but the other was fast to pin me down and tackled me then put me in handcuffs before shoving me to the back seat of the car.
I instantly knew that I was done for.

Miss Valerie waited for them to leave before rushing to her office quickly. She started looking for something in her drawers when a call rang the telephone.
"Yes, miss Val-"
"Have you terminated her employment?" Came a cold voice that made her shiver.
"Y-yes I have done that boss," she stuttered, he was the only one who made her this timid and scared.
"Where is she?" Derek inquired. He had better plans for her than just laying her off. It was too easy.
"She's at the hospital," the manager replied.
Derek frowned. "What do you mean by she's at the hospital?"
"Boss. The girl…girl you wanted me to fire is at the hospital… She's still injured."
Derek still had a deep frown, but then he realized his mistake. She must've fired the wrong person.
"Who did you fire?"
"Miss Adriana."
Derek felt like smacking his head, but he ended up cursing under his breath. "That isn't who I wanted you to-" he paused when something popped into his head. "Wait, who pushed her off the stage?"
"Miss… Miss Rachael," the manager replied with a shaking voice.
"If she's there then keep her there, I'm on my way," one could hear the danger in his voice. The call was disconnected shortly after.
"Boss...hello… Boss," the manager called. She slowly removed the phone from her ear, then she stared at it without blinking. What was that about? What did he want with Rachael?
