Suicide

Rachael played with her fingers as she thought of what to say.

Sensing her hesitation, he sighed. "I don't mean to intrude on your personal issues. I was just purely curious because this is the first time that I've seen Mr. Ice involved with any lady at all."

"Why is that?" She asked curiously.

"Well, I don't really know, but people are having it that he might be a gay, but those are just rumors as usual."

Rachael pressed her lips into a thin line as she processed the information. He wasn't a gay, that she was sure because if he were then he would ignore her, and he would probably be bringing men over or even get a boyfriend. Well, she couldn't say the same because she was yet to see any lady around here. He never brought any woman home, made any calls whenever she was around, or even flirted with the sales girls at the boutique.

Instead, he didn't entirely ignore her, he never called anyone whenever she was around or behaved suspiciously, besides why would he even think of agreeing to her deal? But none of it was adding up. Even though he looked straight, she might be actually wrong too.

But he kissed her, he wouldn't have if he was not straight, right? Oh, her head was aching already.

Just then, she felt cold fingers on her temples. "You're thinking far too deep. You should relax and enjoy the day. Whatever he is to you or not doesn't matter, my job here is to make his jaw drop the minute he sets his eyes on you." He smiled at her.

She went to the bathroom afterward and the spa treatment started from there. Rachael slowly started enjoying it, and suddenly the thoughts of Daniel went to the back of her mind. She concentrated more on what Henry was doing. He educated her on what to do for her skin, he kept her updated on the life of the celebrities because he felt like she should know.

He made her laugh, and she found herself wishing that it wouldn't come to an end, but everything good thing did, and soon he was already parking up his stuff.

"I'll be coming over tomorrow before the party starts. Today was your spa day against tomorrow, so even though I'm leaving now, make sure not to stress yourself that much. You remember you must look exquisite." He said sternly and she nodded with a smile.

"Alright then. I'll take my leave then," he announced.

"I'll show you outside," she offered, feeling rather grateful for today. It has been a while since she laughed so hard or even enjoyed the day without it reminding her of her past. She opened the door and walked with him down the stairs and into the living room.

"I think we can take it from here," he said, turning to her. He initiated a hug, which she accepted before he walked out.

She smiled once more before turning around to back to her room when she heard a growl coming from a distance. Curiously, she stepped towards the place and was startled to hear voices coming from a room.

Rachael tiptoed over and placed her ear on the door. She could hear the voice clearer now.

"What do you mean you don't have the documents with you? We are paying a lot for that project, Daniel, you can't possibly wait for some silly documents before we start." An unfamiliar voice resounded.

"Without the documents, then we don't have rights over the property." She could tell that it was Daniel.

"I thought you bought the land."

"I did," he drawled annoyingly.

"Then why don't you have the papers?"

"I couldn't get it for some reason."

"What really happened?"

"Look, the owner's daughter already made an agreement to hand it over."

"Just like that?" The man said with disbelief.

"Well yes."

"That's unbelievable, Daniel, there's something you're not telling me. Do you know the implications of hiding things? You need to start telling me what your plans are because there's no way I'll buy it that this… Lady wants to provide you the documents willingly after everything."

"Well you better believe it."

"You have until tomorrow to get the documents, or the project will be called off. That's worth lots of money, Daniel, I don't understand why you'd want to risk that much."

Rachael stood there for a while before deciding to leave before someone saw her. However, she wanted to know his reply, so she stayed a little bit.

"I know, but I got it under control."

"If she would rather not offer it, then I have a better plan. You can ask her for a meeting and for her to bring the documents, and offer lots of money for it. If she disagrees or acts reluctant… My men would be there, they'll do a clean job and nobody would know she exists."

"What do you mean?"

The man chuckled. "Don't try to act naive, Dani, you know what I mean. It would be easier to kill the girl and get the documents, besides she's poor and from a poor background. No one would care that much if they find her body washed off by the sea on an island, nor would it matter if she falls off a building. In fact, that could be to our advantage because then it'd look like a suicide. Or what do you think?"

Rachael felt her throat dry and her hands cold. Her heart beating in her ears as her lips quiver in fear.

"I think he makes a good point, Daniel, don't let these people bother you again. Wipe them off and let us be finally done with this, besides, this isn't the first time something like this went down." Another person spoke up.

Rachael pulled away from the door with a gasp. She stepped back, but her legs wobbled, and she stumbled backwards and fell to the ground.
