Sisters & Understanding My Laws

"I was the only dragon of my generation born at the time I had reached the temple. The Dragon God said I had to assume all the powers unto myself and be my own generation. Hence, Soleborn. Every dragon born after me are part if the next generation." I finished my explanation "Now, little sisters, tell me. How did you come up with that little bit of teamwork you attempted on me back there?" I asked, looking at them with great interest

The sister with the red head was the 1 that roared at me, I'll call her Red until she receives her name. The sister with the pink head did not attack directly, but instead used a sneak attack, I'll call her Pink until she receives her name, I thought to myself.

"We have been told how you, our brother, on the day he was hatched, defeated a young wyvern, three times his size after distraction it with a plume of smoke and fire. We always wanted to try it, but have never had the chance" Red said.

"Big brother" insert arrow onto my heart "your exploits at such a young age are now bedtime stories for us and other young like us" Pink told me.

Looking towards my parents and grandparents I asked "Is that so? I wonder, little sisters, what else are you and your generation told about me?" I asked, returning my attention back to them.

"We are told that you mastered flying, on the very day you hatched" Pink said, excitedly

"I wouldn't say I mastered it, myself" I said

"We were also told you completed your training before your first birthday. And the magic you displayed was never before seen" Red said, just as excited

"This 1 is actually true. However, I just found different ways to use magic. There was nothing special about my type of magic at that time" I clarified

"And what about your first kill?" Pink asked, completely entranced in my story

"Yes, was the wyver really three times bigger than you?" Red asked

"Yes. My first kill was the day I was born. And yes, it was a wyvern thrice my size" I answered them. "We'll have plenty of time to talk later. Right now I need to catch up with everyone else and inform them of my trials."

"OK!" they both said, laying down to get comfortable

"No no no, you can not hear about the trials. It's strictly for the older generations ears only" I told them both.

"Aww, come on" Pink tried to argue.

"Ya, we won't tell anyone" Red persisted.

"Come on, you two. You are not allowed to hear this story, until you come of age yourselves" our mother said adamantly.

"But mom, he's only 7, while we're 2. We will be older than he is now by the time we can hear it" Red said dejected

"Please mom. We just want to..." Pink was interrupted.

"ABSOLUTELY NOT! You both are the new firstborns of the Northwest Continent. You are not allowed to hear anything about the trials. If you do, you will fail before you even start!" my mother dropped a piece of news that caught my attention.

"Both?" I asked.

"Yes, when twins are born of the same egg, they share the 'duties' of firstborn of their Continent." my father informed me.

"If that is the case, then there is nothing I can do, my dear sisters." I told them

"Aww" Red said

"No fair" Pink said

"Alright girls, that is enough for now. Come with us so your brother can catch up with everyone else" said Ula, who had been nearby, listening to the whole conversation. "It's time to continue your training."

"Okay!" they both said as they flew off after Ula.

We walked into the cave so I could relay the details of my journey and exactly what the Dragon God said to me.

.....

A week later, I decided it was time for me to move to my own mountain. There were plenty of mountains on our Continent. The problem was finding a mountain that was still unclaimed. Unless I decided to dig out my own lair, which I ended up doing.

On a mountain 3 peaks south of my family cave, I made my home. It took a year of careful digging and planning. But it turned out perfect. All my family could stay with me if they wanted.

As time passed, I learned to use all my laws. Space, Time, Light, Darkness and all Elements, just to name a few.

Before I knew it, it was time for my sister's to leave for their trials.

And now, it was their turn to hear the speeches of their ancestors.

.....

"The Dragon God will grace you with your names. This is a privilege only given to kings and queens. After getting a name, you will be given a power. This power will aid you in protecting our race from the races that hunt us from the people who desire our bodies. To them, we are the best material for their armors and weapons. We are born of magic. Without magic, we do not exist." My father's father told them with reverence in his voice

"You are the first born Dragons of your generation, on this continent. And you are the first born Dragons of all continents. You are the firstborn of the firstborn. And you are ready to receive your names before any other firstborn Dragons because, as thd oldest, it is your responsibilityto get there first. You must begin your journey to the great mountain, where the alter of the Dragon God is." my mother's father spoke this time

"You must embark on this journey together. None of use may help, or join you. If any other Dragon aids you on your quest, you will fail, and will not receive a name. Instead, you will be cursed. Your wings will be removed. Your legs will be shortened. And your minds will be dulled. You will no longer be dragons and will become beasts that only live to kill...until you are killed yourself." my father's mother told me seriously

"If any dragon offers you aid, you must refuse, or you will fail. If you ask any dragon for aid, you will fail. If you fail, your magic will leave you as well. Your lives will be worse than death. If that happens, the next time we meet, I will have no choice but to kill you." my mother's mother said with sadness in her voice

"If you succeed, you will gain the powers over a law of the universe. One law per firstborn has always been the rule. You can not pick your rule. The Dragon God will choose for you. But before all of that, you must get there. Many beings will try to kill you on your way to the temple. Be safe, my little ones." my mother finished, trying, and failing to hold back tears. She was worse this time than she had been when I left.

'It's like a copy fucking paste.' I thought to myself. "Your journey will be long and difficult. Do not waste your time on looking at the sights. You must arrive as soon as you can. But do not try to fly it all in 1 go, you will not be able to. Father once told me it would take them a week to arrive at the foot of the mountain on which the temple is on. It took me more than a month, so do not rush yourselves. You do not want to be attacked because you landed completely drained of energy and could not defend yourself. Stay safe, little sisters." I added my speech before the location and goodbye was added.

"Do you see the mountain over the horizon, my daughters?" my father asked them, pointing.

My sister's looked before saying, at the same time "Those dark clouds, in the distance?"

"Those are not clouds, dear sisters. That is the mountain." I said

Looking in the distance, their jaws almost hit the floor.

"Yes. That mountain is the tallest mountain on the planet. It would take one of us at least a week to arrive at the base of that mountain, as your brother, Solomon, said. For you...I do not know. But at the top of that mountain is your goal. Your journey begins now, my daughters. Good bye, and good luck." my father finished as we all turned back to the cave to leave.

Before we even entered the cave, I heard my darling little sisters start beating their wings to take off. It was difficult, but I managed to not look back at them as they were leaving.

This may be the last time I ever see them, for they may fail and die. Or worse, ghey may fail and NOT die. All I could do is trust in them and wait.

.....

I spent 6 years gaining all the laws. I'm hoping that only receiving ONE will be FAR shorter. I miss my sisters already.....ITS ONLY BEEN AN HOUR SINCE THEY LEFT!

"I can not do this anymore. I'll be going to sleep until they return." I told my family as I teleported back to my cave. Yeah, I learned that. Bur I could only do it once per day, and only over a short distance at that. My Laws require more practice.

As time passed, I found out that the more I ate, the faster I grew. I would be lucky to not be bigger than my mother before years end. And I was right. About a week before the first snow started to fall, I matched my mother in height, and my father in weight. I'm not even 8 years old yet and Dragons do not stop growing, ever. This explains why my grandparents are exceptionally larger than my parents.

Time went on as the snow melted, and spring began anew. I was hoping my susters would be on their way home already. Unfortunately, I would not know until they returned, or news came from. another that the firstborns received their Laws, but my sisters never showed up.

.....

1 day, during mid summer, I was flying high in the sky. No one could see me up here. But I could see them. My Space law allowed me to see far into the distance with stunning clarity. I just so happened to catch a glimpse of 2, slight larger, young Dragons, heading right for the ancestral cave. I smirked as I recognized them and began a breakneck dive right at them. Their reactions caused all my grandparents and parents to burst out in laughter.

As I decended behind them, my plan worked perfectly. I grabbed them behind their wings, causing them to scream. As soon as they managed to realize that it was me, they had the kind of laughter that you only had when you were in absolute fear and could not control yourself. After all, we were traveling at a much faster speed than they were capable of. And they hadn't been expecting it.

Finally landing on yhe plateau, I gently set them down to regain their bearings. After they finally stopped stumbling around, like a bunch of drunks, they threw themselves at me in mock attack. "OH, NO, MY ONLY WEAKNESS. MY LITTLE SISTERS!" I screamed out in mock terror.

They couldn't hold it in any more as they fell off me, laughing. Little did they know, it was true.

Walking up to our shenanigans, our family finally started to ask them how their trials went. Afterwards, my father's mother got serious and said "Your brother wiped our an entire goblin tribe before his first nap, on his journey to the temple. How did you 2 do?"

"Well, we only..." Pink started

"Neverend that, grandmother. What names did you receive?" I asked the question we all wanted, and needed to know.

They cleared their throat before answering "Our names are....."
