Chapter 2: Wild Island Shopping Spree_1

A blast of wind zipped past Liu Zhenhan's forehead, making him feel as though his forehead was being torn apart by the freezing cold. He then saw a faint white ball of energy shooting straight towards the wide open mouth of the giant blue wolf.

The giant wolf, currently mid-air going for an attack, clearly hadn't expected this. It was too late for it to dodge so, acting on animal instinct, it tilted its head to allow the ball to hit its left cheek.

"Awooo..." a mournful wolf howl echoed as the wolf fell straight from the sky, landing right in front of Liu Zhenhan. He was shocked to see that a crystalline ice edge was slowly but continuously spreading across the originally fierce and terrifying face of the wolf. A thick layer of frost rapidly enveloped the wolf's rigid blue fur, and its face clearly showed it was being surrounded by an indescribable severe pain. It held onto the eye that was struck by the energy ball with its front paws, its entire body convulsing as though it had been electrocuted.

Liu Zhenhan dumbly watched the giant wolf fall in front of him, thoroughly stunned.

The wolf's front paws were not like human hands, they couldn't entirely cover the eye that was hit by the energy ball. Liu Zhenhan clearly saw the once supremely arrogant wolf eye now completely chaotic, a color like cream was rolling in the eye socket. Compared with the other eye still emitting a cold light, this one bore a striking resemblance to canned pineapple he had eaten at the front line during his military service - that half-transparent kind, immersed in preservatives for a long time.

The giant wolf continued to tremble, the tremors becoming more intense, its tail started twitching wildly as well.

Liu Zhenhan was slightly taken aback, he didn't have time to think anymore. He quickly tied the clothes he was holding tightly around the neck of the giant wolf. When he threaded the clothes through the gap between the wolf's claws and neck, his entire calf was shaking. He wasn't clear why the once powerful and terrifying giant wolf had suddenly lost its strength, as if it had suddenly caught malaria, but it sent a chill up his spine.

The giant blue wolf was massive. Its strong neck was indicative of its brute force. The more Liu Zhenhan saw these traits, the more uneasy he became. He forced himself not to look at the wolf's body, or its massive head, as big as a calf.

Liu Zhenhan stepped on the wide back of the giant wolf, wound the clothes tightly two times around his hand, and pulled with all his might. He felt an icy coldness under his feet, as if he was stepping on dry ice, his sole tingled as though pricked by a needle.

As the clothes around its neck tightened, the wolf, already gasping for breath, suddenly burst forth with a powerful force. It dug its claws into the ground, plowing deep trenches beneath itself. Liu Zhenhan almost had the illusion he wasn't wrestling with a wolf but pulling against a fully engaged combine harvester going the other way.

Unable to withstand the force, Liu Zhenhan simply sat on the wolf's icy back, his feet firmly against the ground, and his body leaned as far back as he could.

Then, "Guoguo" who had been laying on his head also jumped down, stood on the broad back of the giant wolf, and followed Liu Zhenhan's example by pulling on the clothes. Her chubby bottom was sticking up high, and her adorable small face turned red in an instant.

"Damn it..." Liu Zhenhan felt like he was riding a runaway boat in a storm, being tossed back and forth. The wolf's body was forcefully twisting on the ground, nearly throwing him off several times. Gradually, the range of the wolf's twists became smaller, but for every inch it moved, it left behind paw prints deeply gouged into the ground.

Step by step, the wolf slowly approached a mound. It tried to grab onto the terrain and stand up with its two front paws. Its sharp claws carved through the layer of moss on the hill and tumbled down the slope; it scrapped away the top layer of the mound to reveal the rocky subsurface beneath. Each time it extended its paw, grey stone chips spattered around from its scratching. Its head, held high from the taut clothes, panted out a clump of white foam with a strong fishy smell each time, splashing onto the hill.

When Liu Zhenhan saw those bubbles, he knew success was within reach, and he strained harder. He felt as if he was exerting all the strength he had ever had in his life.

Just as he was about to strangle the giant wolf to death, the clothes around the wolf's neck snapped. Both Liu Zhenhan and Guoguo flipped over, rolling away.

Liu Zhenhan's head nearly landed in the fire. The smell of singed hair filled the air as a lot of his hair was burned by the flames. Guoguo ended up in his arms; even without having time to put out the fire on her hair, he quickly performed a nifty 'Fish Flop' to stand up, and picked up the Bone Spear from the ground, thrusting it vigorously into the side of the giant wolf.

With a soft thud, the Bone Spear penetrated half an inch deep before stopping. Liu Zhenhan was simply too weak.
