Chapter 58

"Is Manda coming to find us later?" she asked as he waltzed over to her, twirling the arrow between his fingers.

"She is," he told her.

"Why? Is my company not enough?"

Isla chuckled.

"Of course it is. I was simply curious. She said she wanted my help deciding on food for your mating ceremony next week."

Of course, Manda didn't know that it was very likely Isla wouldn't be here next week, but Isla was happy to help nonetheless. Seeing her new friend so happy, so in love, it made Isla's troubles pale in comparison.

She'd never had a close female friend her age before, and she liked it a lot. She would miss Manda dearly when she left, but she would be okay knowing that she was keeping her friend safe.

Manda had done her best to keep Isla as busy as possible, likely to keep her from thinking about anything that was going on.
