Her voice was a little choked up as she spoke, and Kelly thought she was going to break down into tears once more, except he felt that these would be more genuine than before.
"I have had to hide out for the past two weeks because I wanted to avoid facing anyone. Do you know how humiliating this whole thing is? How am I supposed to walk around with everyone knowing that you chose my sister over me and not even giving me the courtesy of trying to hide it?"
"It wasn't about choice," he argued, knowing that he couldn't have stayed with Samantha whether he wanted to or not.
Pangs of guilt hit him when he realized he and Isla really had been throwing it back in her face.
"It's always about choice,
Kelly," she snapped.
"You chose to spend time with her. You chose to let yourself get close enough to fall in love with her."
Kelly sighed.
He knew he couldn't explain any of this to her, she couldn't understand.
