Chapter 7: Now you see me now you don't

"Olivia, Olivia" she heard a voice yell.

"Wha.. what happened " Olivia asked as she stretched a little.

"Well you slept a whole day away, guess the sleepover was that fun" Olivia's mom asked happily.

"I remember my first sleepover, oh we had popcorn and braided each other's hair" Olivia's mom continued.

Olivia didn't remember anything from the previous night.

"Do you remember how I got home?" Olivia asked yawning.

"Not really you went to your room and you locked the door, are you sure you're okay?

"Yeah, just a headache"

"Well get ready for school" she said as she walked away.

Olivia watched her mom exit and as she opened her bed sheets she noticed that her perfectly tanned legs had vanished, disappeared, gone, stole, lost it was just not there.

She never imagined waking up as a cripple so she decided it was a dream. She looked at the open window and for a moment it looked fake until she pinched herself. She scanned her room and as she heard her mom and dad arguing she finally realized it was not a dream. She did nothing but shake as she realized it was really true.

"Ok don't panic, hmm maybe it's just a prank" she calmed herself as she finally mustered up the courage to look for her missing legs and to her horror she found out they weren't missing and they were still on her the only difference was that she couldn't see it. They were invisible.

"Does mom know, does anyone know" she asked herself as she started to sweat.

Here mind kept spinning looking for possible solutions and then she remembered Robert who dropped her off.

'Why?when? How?' she asked herself as she touched her messy hair. She knew Robert would explain everything so she decided to take a shower ignoring her now invisible legs.

She put on some jeans to do some cover up and as she looked at her fully dressed body she was happy to know that her legs were the only thing missing as she knew she would have thrown a tantrum if her mom found out.

Her mom would have totally given out some missing posters to any stranger she came across.

She looked at the mirror one last time and sighed deeply as she packed her bag to leave.

She walked downstairs and looked at her parents and as if her dad understood her gesture he offered her a ride.

He looked at her and wondered why she was wore furry boots that nearly covered her entire legs.

"These boots are trending" Olivia said as she mimicked the way the girls at her school did.

The act seemed to work because he drove her to school without asking her about it again.

As soon as she waved her dad goodbye a piece of memory came back.

She was at Josaphine's party and she totally trashed it, she remembered the sad questioning eyes Josaphine gave her when she was leaving. She remembered everything except for some few things she thought was unimportant. She shook her head to clear her mind and made her way to Josaphine's locker.

"We need to talk, I didn't mean to...

"Forget it, Dave told me everything, it was nice of you to talk to him but like I said forget about him he's living with some painful memories that you won't be able to cope with." Josaphine replied.

'Hmmm, pain, he felt pain but he's a bully or was it just a way for him to release his anger on someone else' she thought to herself as she walked to her class.

She paid little attention to the teacher who seemed to be speaking in acient tongues and after third period she ran straight to the library

to make research. She looked around and before she knew it her table was filled with big heavy books that were twice her size.

Studying was never difficult for her especially

the books in front of her but she knew they was one book missing. The books she despised looking at the only two books in the library she had never bothered to read

Chemistry and Micro–biology.

She walked straight to the book she least expected to read and as though taunting her she found it on the top shelf.

She looked around in shame and nearly walked away as she was too short to get the book she needed. She was about leaving until she heard a voice ask.

"Do you want this book?" a familiar voice asked.
