Of Magic, Power, and Tressed

Lydia was shown to a small room on the second story of the house, with a small bed and a piece of cloth for a door.  She thanked the girl and walked inside, shutting the curtain behind her.

The first thing she did was pray, thanking the gods for helping her.  The next thing she did was immediately began meditating.  While tired, she got a feeling that it would improve her magic faster.  She meditated the old way, but it didn't feel quite right.  A few minutes in, she stopped, breathing calmly but losing her focus.  'There was the way Gerald told you…'  Her mind reminded her.  Lydia was still opposed to it, but finally harkened to the little voice in her brain.  She pictured the magic, pulsing within her with each heartbeat.  The little blob looked more dim than before, but she relaxed and touched it again.
