What? No…this isn't how it happened. My father killed all the kids. None of them escaped. What the hell is this?
"It's the truth you so desperately wished to hide. I know it must be shocking. What were you thinking? Using a small boy as a shield against a non-lethal attack? One from a little girl at that." The shadow man mocked me as he finally released my neck.
I gasped for the air I was deprived of and slumped down to the floor.
"Gah…ah. No..ahem… you're wrong. That's not how it happened at all." I argue, albeit uncertain if it's the truth.
"Come on. Don't deny it. It'll only make things worse for you. Don't you wish to repent? To atone for your sins? The only way to do that is to live with the guilt. Hiding it away and pretending it never existed won't absolve you of anything. Don't be a coward." The man squats down to my level and scolds me without remorse.
