Changing her plans at the sight of him.

Luo Kexin walked into the class in a confident stride that sent all the whispers in the class to silence at her entrance. She went straight to Shi Roulan's seat where she was absentmindedly staring at her nails while the girl beside her holding the nail polish waited nervouslyly for her review. Luo Kexin stopped in front of her desk and said. "Hey, are you Ruolan? I heard you wanted to see me. May I ask why?"

Shi Ruolan heard her voice and stopped what she was doing to raise her head and look at the girl in front of her and she couldn't hide her surprise. It was no doubt that the girl was obviously a beauty but the thing that disturbed her the most was the absence of fear in her eyes when she spoke to her. She looked at Mingmei whom she was positive must have briefed her about the school hierarchy around her so she was not happy about the way the girl had spoken as if they were from the same social level. "Oh yes, I truly wanted to meet you today. Could you tell me why you stole my hairpin? When I got home, I noticed that my hairpin was missing so I got permission from the class teacher to search everyone's lockers. Guess where I saw it? It was in your locker."

Luo Kexin narrowed her eyes when she heard her words, relieving her past life moments when she had been shocked that such a thing had happened to her. She had utterly denied the allegations back then but because of her poor background and social prejudice against her side, no one believed her and then she even got blackmailed by Ruolan to do all her homework for the session. This time, she said nothing and decided to watch how everything would unfold if she just kept quiet for a while.

"Kexin, I have heard about your family background and I understand that you might want something like that. If you had just asked, perhaps I might have thought about gifting you the hairpin." Shi Ruolan's eyes flashed with devious light as she twirled the hairpin around her new manicured fingers. Her words caused some people in class to snicker and make malicious comments as a result.

And Mingmei was definitely not happy yet she could not summon the courage to offend her. "I'm sure this is all a misunderstanding, Ruolan. Kexin is not someone to do that kind of stuff especially since she is a scholarship student who doesn't want to get into trouble." She nudged Luo Kexin's arm and said. "Kexin, tell her what really happened."

Luo Kexin did not say anything until she spotted Tian Kuo come into the room from another door and her heart started beating once again at the sight of him sitting down at a corner and watching the scene in front of him. She realized that she could not bear to let him see her that way even if it was all part of her plan. She smiled and said to Shi Ruolan. "Yes, this is really a misunderstanding."

Shi Ruolan glared at her when she noticed that the girl was looking at Tian Kuo, making her clench her fist to restrain herself. She also couldn't help but feel very annoyed at the way Tian Kuo seemed to be staring back at her, making her want to rip off the girl's face off but she maintained her smile and sugary smile. "Oh, really? Please tell us how the hairpin found its way to your locker."

"When I was about to leave the class, I saw the hairpin lying on the floor but I didn't know who it belonged to. There was no one in the class to ask so I simply kept it in my locker, intending to give it to the class representative today since he was busy." Luo Kexin explained everything in a clear and concise manner but she suddenly scratched her neck in a awkward manner when she looked at the class representative as if she suddenly remembered something and added. "If I had known it was yours, I would have surely returned it to you when I saw you.... uhm, kissing Haoyu."

"Nonsense!" Shi Ruolan hit the table indignantly as soon as she heard those words but her classmates had already begun to whisper behind her back, making her face slowly turn red. She glared at Luo Kexin and shouted. "Stop spreading false lies to cover up your crime. If you dare to speak another word again, I will immediately report you to the principal's office and get you expelled immediately!"

Luo Kexin knew that she had said those words in order to intimidate her and stop her from talking but she was not fazed by her words at all but instead lowered her head to avoid her glower as she said. "But I am really telling you the truth. I was about to leave the school building yesterday when I saw you two smooching in the laboratory. I felt it was inappropriate to interrupt you two since it was an intimate moment between two lovers. Please believe me, I would never steal your hairpin-"

"That's not true! Haoyu, say something!" Shi Ruolan screamed at her as she turned back to meet Haoyu's evading eyes, the poor boy pretending to be immersed in reading his books but he was not denying the girl's accusations at all. She hated the stares she was receiving from everyone because it was obvious that no one believed her. She then decided to shift her focus to Tian Kuo who watched the scene with interest. "Tian Kuo, she is lying. That's not what she saw, I-"

"Why are you telling me? Am I your boyfriend?" Tian Kuo's diffident words caused her to choke back her words as he looked at her. He found no reason to doubt what he had heard, no one in the class would easily want to offend Haoyu, the class representative as they already knew what the outcome would be. He had already heard some whispers about it this morning before he had entered class but he hadn't even bothered with it until now. He looked at the two girls and revealed a faint smile as he said. "If the girl really wanted to steal your hairpin, she wouldn't have kept it in her locker for you to see. Let's close this matter now."

Fulin choked on his drink when he heard his friend's words because the whole class had already dispersed on his words and returned to their own business, leaving Shi Ruolan fuming with an embarrassed face. He took another look at the girl who stood with Mingmei holding her school bag, wondering who she was and why did Tian Kuo bother to stand up for her?

He then shifted his final gaze to his friend, what was he really up to this time and what did this new student have to do with it?
