Chapter 1: Divided

30…..no 28…..again no….25 and then Silence. 25 Kriegsmen of the 30 that had gathered here. That is after they had already been separated from their assigned company of 600 strong….or at least what's left of it. Captain Kreyar, a Kriegsman which seemed to lead the group stopped moving and so did the troops following her, she turned her head slightly to her left side for about five second in silence staring into the darkness, a darkness that seemed to have no end.

" Tight Formation!!!" she said suddenly and quickly the Kriegsmen re-arranged themselves according to her orders, sudden footsteps began echoing for some brief seconds before it suddenly vanished. The Kriegsmen were soft in their footsteps and careful of where they stepped however that may not be enough for the enemy they faced.

Again began the marching as Captain Kreyar began moving once more, into the darkness with only her Lamp pack to illuminate her area of view. As the group moved it seemed like they were in constant alert and danger based on where they looked but…..that is wrong for they were simply used to such things hence moved like they and behaved like they were in an active battlefield. Their double dark lenses scanning a specific area in their view for as far as their eyes could take them, they moved monotonously in a certain angle over and over again like there was some sort of limiter preventing them from exceeding their self given angle of view to which they watched.

' A noise.' I said to myself as I stopped and raised my weapon to my designated area of view. I wasn't the only one as the others did the same.

( Quick Footsteps )

I moved my head silently as I tried my best to see farther than I currently could however I couldn't no matter how much I strained my eyes, i couldn't make out a thing . Though I didn't give up in trying as soon results came for I saw a figure or a shadow forming in the darkness….no revealing itself as soon several other dark figures formed albeit though they were In different stances and positions.

" Contact to the East!!! " I said aloud and quickly notified the rest of an attack.

" Contact to the West!!!" Another Voice said aloud, sharp and short.

" Contact to the So-" Another voice began only to suddenly stop as silence engulfed our surroundings.

( Vwoosh )

An object flew through the air, as soon the sound of object and flesh meeting together sounded weirdly loud, like a needle dropping onto the floor in a room of pure delicate silence. Figures moved and shots were fired with most if not all missing their already gone targets, again like their initial attack that divided us from the main company and cost us greatly in manpower however we learned and began spacing ourselves in order to prevent two or more of us from dying to one attack and simply getting wiped out.

' It was brief, for it only lasted for about a second or two as I twisted my body, sucking my flesh into my body in a successful attempt to dodge what seemed like an attack, it was however the Kreigsman behind me was not as lucky, as he got impaled by what I identified to be a….spear.'

' He was alive though as the repetitive groaning from him entered my ears and his successful attempts to get up succeeded briefly, however just as the spear appeared so did it disappear along with it's new victim as 'it' was dragged along the floor and into the dim darkness from whence it came from.

I did nothing, not like I was expected to as my focus was on the battlefield. This certain event that had just happened lasted but few seconds and in those few seconds our small group had faced an onslaught of quick attacks from…everywhere. I had already emptied a whole mag pack and possibly would soon empty my second as my mind and body worked on different things whilst working in unison with each other…a feat possible for all those put under the strain that we had survived.

Suddenly the sound of chain in the air alerted me of an attack and yet…..I could not dodge it as soon I felt what seemed to be the familiar yet unfamiliar feeling of a blade pierce through me just below my shoulder and then I felt a pull. This happened so fast and yet my brain could and did reactive quickly in response to it as my eyes traced the chain back to it's origin which of course was concealed in the darkness…..my body however could not. A figure flashed by me and it suddenly landed on top 'it' slashing away 'it's' weaponry as the female Drukhari reached for it with a smile formed on her face.

It didn't have to be processed nor thought about as from the few things I remember back on my first days on krieg it was that it was meant to survive...survive till the end but I had long forgotten why. My right hand moved as my lasgun aligned itself to the trajectory and estimated path of the Drukhari. My fingers moved gripping my lasgun as it forced itself on the trigger of my weapon. A shot was released and was quickly followed by more as time ran out quickly yet my mind was clear, the Drukhari moved quickly with some shots only passing the shadow of the Xeno like it was never even there.

' 20, 21, 22, 23.' I counted in my mind as the shots were fired. That Xeno dodged it all as she turned and looked at me with a smile plastered on her face, her hands already at the throat of 'it'. It seemed like she had won though the smile stuck on her face permanently said otherwise, as I had fired my last two shots at her mere centimeters away from each other with it forming a gaping whole at her forehead as her lifeless body fell on 'it'. My luck had ran out as I was dragged into the darkness, those last shots had just emptied my current mag leaving me unable to shoot the Xeno's ahead of me. I saw Captain 7690-6789-1-Kreyar also get stabbed from the right side of my mask...her fate however would remain to be seen as the battlefield quickly vanished before me, the laughing and fighting fading away with each passing second until silence had welcome my hearing, I gritted my teeth in defiance as I tried my best convincing my voice that I would not break, for common regulation or preferred tactic for Kriegsmen were to kill themselves should they believe the enemy could extract information from then rather than to be captured and spill anything to a Xeno's.
