Goblin Grounds

With a keen eye, Jae-sung scanned his surroundings. Though no immediate threats presented themselves, he soon discovered goblin tracks, and with stealthy steps, he crept along the trail. Pressing himself against the rough bark of a tree, he peered through the thick foliage at the creatures resting before him. The goblins were crudely armed with short, jagged knives, chattering and laughing among themselves, completely unaware of the hunter lurking in the shadows.

As the cold sweat broke out on his forehead, Jae-sung contemplated his options. Should he flee or fight? As he weighed his options, he devised a plan. With swiftness and cunning, he summoned steel wire from his fingertips, anchoring it to two nearby trees. With a deadly trap set, he hefted a rock, readying himself for battle.

With a baseball pitcher's stance, he let loose the rock, leaving a concave in one of the goblins skull while it bled profusely. As the remaining goblins startled and gave chase, Jae-sung bolted through the bushes, avoiding the traps he had set. Soon, two goblins lay mutilated, their bodies in halves, leaving only one to confront.

With swift precision, Jae-sung disarmed the goblin, kicking its hand, and circled around it, wrapping steel wire around its neck, pulling tighter and tighter, cutting deep, as the goblin suffocated, scratching, biting and kicking in a desperate attempt to survive. But Jae-sung persisted, continuing to apply pressure until finally, the goblin lay motionless.

Exhausted, Jae-sung laid on the floor, recouping his strength, and glancing around for any danger that might have heard the commotion. And as he lay there, he was greeted with the prompt,

"You leveled up."

He then opened his stat window.

The thrill of newfound power coursed through Jae-sung's veins, as he frantically placed his skill points with meticulous care; he desired nothing more than to become a casting assassin, a master of the arcane arts, capable of swiftly dispatching his foes with deadly efficiency. And so, with a heart ablaze with determination, he invested two points in the art of intelligence, and one in the realm of agility, hoping to unlock the full potential of his abilities.

His soul shuddered with eager excitement as he set out to test his newfound powers. He could feel a metallic sheen creeping over his body, a protective barrier that shimmered with the same ethereal glow as the wire he wielded. With a focused mind, he honed his energies, directing them towards his arm, until it too was transformed into a weapon of steel.

A razor-sharp blade, honed to perfection, extruded from his arm; its curved shape reminiscent of the scythe of death. The metal was bathed in a strange, blueish glow, and as Jae-sung gazed upon his handiwork, he was overcome by a sinister chuckle; born of the thrill of power and elation.

With ruthless efficiency, Jae-sung set about filleting the ears from the goblin corpses, collecting them as a valuable item to sell upon his return and as proof of his successful mission.

As he traversed the treacherous wilds, the mage felt his mana ebb away, leaving him bereft of the power he needed to engage in further battle. His mana was like a flickering candle in the wind, soon to be extinguished, and he was uncertain of his ability to withstand the rigors of another battle.

As he drew near to the edge of the jungle, the stillness was shattered by a blood-curdling scream. Its echoes ricocheted through the trees, foretelling of a danger that he could not ignore.
