Dorm

Vin's POV

I'm not going to lie, this collage compared to my earlier collage looks more like my high school. I loved it there, it had a very grand appearance of life. Especially nature, there was so much to life than just concrete pavements and glass buildings, because of the frequent rain the flowers were almost always blooming and the green of the grasses always looked brighter than they actually were. In comparison, this place looks more like an artificial copy. It kind of is, this place being Arizona. The one thing I am not going to miss that much is the weather, at least. My one and only salvation being that. A month ago, I moved here from Cambridgeshire per my fathers' request or rather should I say demands ,that sounds more like him. I uprooted my whole life and moved a thousand miles away because of one unfortunate incident that I couldn't avoid no matter what I did to avoid it, back in my town, my father started getting aggravated as the negative attention was getting more and more prominent pushing away all of the positive his multibillion dollar company has accumulated over the past century.

I was brought to the present by the voice of the tour guide who was talking about the university and how large it was ,which he didn't even need to say but kept emphasizing on. The school looked nice, I appreciate the greenery even if its ever so slight, the plants were very vibrant under the glare of the sun. The sun was giving justice to the buildings as it greatly complemented the brownish rose tint, which was fading away making it look almost as if that was the intended colour and not because of the amount of the years the buildings has had to endured.

I got quickly bored of observing the vicinity and let my eyes wonder in search of the dormitory. The two tour guides, that were assigned to almost the twenty to fifteen students ,started veering us towards the left side, at the end of the long side walk. Checking if they were looking my way or not, I as slowly as I could turned around slightly shoving at the other students who were either bored or engrossed at the stories the tour guides seem to be pulling out of their arses, I kept on walking. I then quickly departed from the group and headed to the right side that was left neglected in search of the dormitories. I am not going to spend two hours, more or less, depending of the vastness of the campus, looking at buildings while the tour guides pointed out what they are used for. There is something called a map I fully plan on utilizing and if we're being honest I will not remember most of the things that will be said.

I crossed the street to come face to face with a building that read gym. It was odd to find the gym upfront like this but this can only indicate that the dormitories were nearer than I had expected. I went on my grand journey in finding my shelter for the night and presumably the future. The path that I was on was vacant as ever, the buildings around it were quite and looked sullen not remotely as bright as the ones that were upfront. Since it was two days before the beginning of class it presumably would have been hectic. Turning back around I pulled my phone out taking out a map of this building.

Ironically it pointed me towards the left that my orientation class had went. Following the map as accurately as I could, which was not greatly accurate, I found it.

It read DORM, that was the thing that led me to find it and mediocre use of maps and a bunch of students with their parents surrounding the building was another dead give away. The building was a monster of a building, bigger than all the ones I had seen while I was fruitlessly wondering around. For obvious reasons that it contained all the male students, but hopefully not all. I hope it's a luxury thing, where people can get their own dorms instead of a cluster fuck mess. I pushed through the cluster of students, that were taking shit out of their cars or getting a lecture from their parents, feeling like a flipping orphan ,my brain is unnecessarily dramatic.

My email suggested I was on the 5th floor, room number 50 and to ask for the keys at the receptionists desk. I willed my heart to take in the breath of fresh air I was sending in and walked inside. There was a line just at the door, I barley missed the person on the last line.

After several minutes of waiting I reached the receptionists desk. She was quick and asked without greeting. "Room number?" Her brown eyes sucked me in from waist up and arched her eyebrows.

"Fifty."

Which led to her rummaging through drawers and fabricating one key out of the many drawers. Thanking her I was on the lift and going up to the 5th floor in seconds.

The lift opened to reveal three sets of hallways ,left right and middle. To the left and to the right there were a bunch of rooms leading to another hallway I assume but my best guess will be that since mine is 50 its going to be the first door to the right. Okay in all honesty I didn't guess that, the receptionist whispered it just as I hoped onto the lift.

Inserting the keys I unlocked the door to find a room that looked like a hotel, the first thing you will notice is the kitchen. Even though tiny it had the necessities; a stove and some cabinets. I walked in slightly shoving the door closed behind me. For some reason I felt like I was breaking into someone's house. The living room had one large sofa and another armchair that faced towards a wooden table. To my left there was one door and to my right there was two. I was about to head over to the lonely room when the door to my right opened. And In came a half naked man with a toothbrush and a tooth paste in hand. He rubbed his eyes a little bit and set his sight on me.

"Good morning?" He croaked out which looked painful for some reason and cleared his throat.

"Its almost midday." I informed him, "I'm your new roommate. Vincent, you can call me vin."

"Oh yea I forgot ,yea my name is.." He stopped himself seeming to have forgotten his own name.

"Should I do rapid fire on basic white boy names?" I smirked a little, in amusement.

He looked at me, seeming to be between amusement and annoyance, " Ha, a humorous brit, hard to find." He commented smugly.

"Is that supposed to be an insult? I think the world has established that your humour is only on offending people, I understand this type of comedy is lost on you." I like generalizing Americans for no particular reason.

"You posh people thinking you're better than everyone. Disclaimer, you aren't." He seemed to like to generalize people as well, I think we're on a good start.

" Never said I was. But right now I'm feeling a lot more confident in my intelligence level than a person who has forgotten his own name."

He kept quite for a second, "This usually never happens.." He continued still trying to remember what the actual fuck his name was. He must have hit his head several times or he was still drunk.

"Max, yup yup I remember." He said with his eyes alight as if saying bingo.

"I'm glad that happened for you. Can you please show me where I will be staying?" I kind of wanted to get some rest before I have to do any kind of conversing.

"Well you just saw me come out of my room, so I'm going to leave you with your own devices now and let you figure it out genius." He remarked leaning against his doorway.

I trudged towards the one I was heading to in the first place before he interrupted my steps. It was the bathroom.

He slipped past me and got inside, "Thank you." He smiled taking a hold of the handle on the other side, "Who says chivalry Is dead." And then he proceeded to close the door on my face.

"You piece of turd."

I couldn't find any other offensive words at that moment. Accepting defeat I turned and went into my room. The room, which from now on will be called my room, is a small to medium sized one. It has a single mattress right at the corner of the room ,a bedside drawer , just in front of the bed a closet , and beside the door there is a rectangular table and an uncomfortable looking chair. It reminds me of a motel but much cleaner and less life threatening.

This is going to be fun.
