CHAPTER 39

Yoo Na was being waylaid by Da Yeon and Nam Joo as she walked through the hall. She rolled her eyes inwardly, knowing that she was there for nothing more than her childish bickers. Yoo Na tried to ignore her and walk past her but they obstructed her again and she cussed inwardly, knowing that her ears were going to bleed from Da Yeon's ear piercing nagging.

"I know you like me a lot but I really don't want to be your friend." Yoo Na said with a bored expression which was supposed to chase them away.

"Why would I want to be the friend of a wretched..."

"Bitch? Hoe? Don't you get tired of trying to bully someone you can't?" Yoo Na interrupted, obviously tired of her everyday bickering she had grown so used to and she knew it'd get worse if In Ra resumed school after she recovered from her plastic surgery and she just couldn't wait for her return.

"Stop trying to act smarter than us or you'll only regret it in the worst way." Nam Joo retorted and she wondered where he got the courage to retort back when he was obviously scared of her after their first introduction.

"Are you really threatening me right now? You should know better by now." She said with a cold expressionless face as she locked her gaze with him which only made him flinch a bit.

"And you should know better by now that messing with people like us will only make you end up in a bad place, so if I were you, I'd watch the next word that comes out of your filthy mouth!" Da Yeon hissed angrily and Yoo Na wondered why they kept coming after her when she obviously angered them.

"The only bad place I'll end up in, is prison and it'll probably be for murder, which I don't mind." She said with a flat tone and a carefree expression and her words took them aback as they stared at her in shock, surprised at her outburst.

"You're really just a shameless lowlife aren't you? How can you talk about murdering someone so freely. Aisshh you really give me the creeps..." Da Yeon said with a twisted face of disgust and contempt as she shot her a wary look.

"Then you should be careful with me now that you know I'm capable of murder." Yoo Na warned with a calm tone but her face was hard and they both flinched a bit in fear.

"W..What do you mean? Are you threatening to kill us?!" Da Yeon's voice was raised, making sure the few students passing the hall heard her.

"Ha ha ha I'm just joking, did you see your faces?" Yoo Na said as she laughed hysterically but it was an empty one, which made Da Yeon and Nam Joo exchange glances at each other with creased brows in confusion at her sudden change but they knew she was faking it because of the prying eyes around the corner and she wouldn't want anyone making up rumours that she was threatening to kill them both.

"Laugh all you want but I didn't come here to exchange words with you, I only came to deliver a message from In Ra and she said to stay away from Cha Eun." Da Yeon said with a hard glare at her and Yoo Na didn't flinch at her words because she wasn't interested in whatever In Ra had to say.

"Tell her I'm so sorry for not stopping by to see her, I hope she recovers quickly so I can see how pretty she becomes from the plastic surgery." Yoo Na said with a genuinely concerned expression but the hint of mockery on her voice couldn't be hidden but she didn't plan on hiding it.

"You bitch!" Da Yeon cussed as she scoffed at her in anger. Yoo Na didn't say anymore until she heard a familiar voice behind her.

"Class just started, aren't you coming in?" Cha Eun said as he walked in to their view as he referred the question to Yoo Na, ignoring the other two. Yoo Na had wicked thoughts running through her mind and she didn't see why she couldn't use Cha Eun as a leverage to get those annoying leeches off her back.

"Yes, we were just talking and I think Da Yeon wants to be friends." Yoo Na said with a smile on her face but it was an empty one as usual and Cha Eun had to stifle a laugh from escaping his lips. "What's funny?" Yoo Na asked with an innocent look on her face and Da Yeon and Nam Joo just stared at her in awe at her acting skills.

"You should be a fucking actress!" Da Yeon said between gritted teeth as she stomped out angrily on them.

Yoo Na finally closed from school and was about to go home when she saw Cha Eun walking towards her unmistakably smiling at her.

"I'll drop you home, don't refuse." Cha Eun said in a commanding tone and she just pressed her lips in a thin line as she followed him. She was determined to get her revenge at all cost but she had to also teach those rich brats a lesson and Cha Eun was a great opportunity for it.

"What's our next step?" Cha Eun asked as they got into the backseat of the car with prying, jealous watchful eyes. She herself couldn't figure out the next step, she had been trying to figure out the patterns of the anonymous gift killer but nothing connected the murders to each other, it seemed like he picked randomly which made it harder to figure out since a connection related murder would have been helpful in one way or the other.

"We need more evidence but the killer's a genius and the police are of no help but..." A thought suddenly popped in her head, she had been with someone who could get his hands on almost everything and anything and yet, she wasn't using her resources wisely and she hoped she could get something from her investigation even if the police didn't.

"Can you collect a CCTV footage of an area?" She asked unsure if he could but she kept her hopes high.

"If it's important, then I'll try." He answered and she sighed in relief.

"Really?" She asked almost immediately as a small smile broke through her lips and it was the first time he saw her smile genuinely but it was only a small one and it stayed for a second.

"Yes, text me the area. My father's friends with the CEO of a security company, I'll send it to him for the footages." Cha Eun said and she nodded in satisfaction.

She felt like she was at the verge of breakthrough and she could feel it but she failed to realize it was only the beginning to a dark path that would end up with innocent lives sacrificed for her bloody revenge.

......

Dae Hyun was jogging in an empty street under the dim moonlight because he wanted to take a bit of fresh air and he only came out at night in the public if he wasn't at work because he hated how noisy it was in the public but nighttime was less noisy, so he preferred coming out then. He was jogging down the quiet street a few meters away from his car when his grey eyes followed the sight of a girl that walked past him to the opposite direction and he turned mechanically to observe her. She was a petite girl with pretty features and dark brown hair and she was wearing a pretty light pink dress with heels. She walked slowly wearing a smile on her face as it was glued to her phone and it didn't take long for him to notice she went out on a date. Dae Hyun looked left and right, for any sign of life in the area but it was well past midnight and there was not a single soul but he couldn't rejoice yet as he searched quickly but thoroughly for any CCTV cameras in the area before she reached the end of the street and a dark smile broke through his face as there wasn't any. He realized that he hadn't satisfied his sadistic hobby in a while because Min Hye had distracted his mind off it, but no amount of distraction could stop him from feeling the sadistic excitement he felt whenever he saw the life draining from their eyes. He looked at the girl with a dark glint in his eyes as his lips turned up to a wicked smirk. 'It's a good weather for a kill' he thought inwardly as he slowly ran towards the girl and then his pace increased as he ran as fast as a panther towards the girl with a murderous look on his face.
