First-Year Junior High Student

Chapter 1: First-Year Junior High Student

(Reminder: Alternate Universe)

Philippines, Cebu City, Bantayan Island.

Kallus stood in front of the 4-meter-wide gate of the Madridejos National High School, wearing a white uniform and royal blue pants, he attracted the attention of many other students.

Not surprisingly because Kallus is taller compared to his peers, standing at 151 cm matched with his soft looks with some baby fats still existing on his face. It's not an exaggeration to say that Kallus will become a lady killer when he becomes older.

No matter what other think of him or how many eyes are looking at him right now, Kallus who had long become accustomed to this was not bothered. He is very excited this day, thinking that he is finally in high school which means he can be considered a 'little adult' according to his uncle.

This also means that he can finally travel alone without his parents constantly reminding him of the time and urging him to go home.

Little did he know though, he would still not be completely free of his parents' grasp. There's just no way they will allow their eldest son to go out alone despite being still young, but they also know that sometimes, they also need to experience freedom for once so they could continue to cherish its importance.

"Attention all students, please gather at the oval grounds for the flag ceremony. Remember to stand in line with your sections. Look for the sign in front."

While he was still thinking about his beautiful future of traveling around the whole island, Kallus was taken out of his thoughts by the sudden announcement. He immediately gathered himself as he heads towards the oval grounds.

While walking, Kallus saw some of his elementary classmates. Upon seeing him, they all greeted him with a smile to which he also responded excitedly.

"Bro, how's it been?" Of the two that greeted him, one was a boy a head shorter than him. His name is Mark, a good friend of Kallus.

"Nothing much. Been very bored at home, my parents still won't let me out too much." Kallus complained as he remembered his very boring summer vacation.

The two boys laughed upon hearing this; they were already familiar with how strict Kallus' parents are. So, they are not much surprised.

"Well, that's too bad. The boys went to the beach last week. It was hella fun." Another boy, who was just a few centimeters taller than Mark spoke. He is Jason, also a good friend of Kallus and Mark's cousin.

"Wait, last week? Javier's birthday?" Kallus asked surprised.

"Yeah. Javier did say he invited you, but you said you can't go." Jason said.

"You were the only one not there. Us five were all there, though there was a small accident, so we had to go home early." Mark's voice was slightly disappointed, it seems that they had fun at that time.

"I know this one, Javier's brother got bitten by a dog. How's Joshua by the way?" Kallus had also heard about this one because Javier's house is not that far from theirs. Joshua is Javier's brother.

"He's alright now. Their dog was vaccinated, and Joshua only got scared and was overthinking again, so things went out of control." Jason said. He sounds like he was there in person. Jason suddenly remembered something so he turned to look at Kallus and asked, "Which section are you in?"

"Section A. How about you guys?" Kallus smiled. He actually hopes that the three of them are in the same section.

"I told you he will be section A." Mark suddenly said, prompting Kallus to look at him questioningly. Mark laughed, "Jason and I were trying to guess which section will you be in, he said that you will be in section B, same as him. While I guessed that you will be in section A." Mark's looks were very annoying that you would want to just beat him up.

"At least I am not like someone who is in section D." Jason countered while gritting his teeth. He really can't help it, even though Mark and he are cousins, and have seen Mark's stupid grin far too many times. He just can't help himself from having the urge to punch his face.

"What? How the hell did you even get into section D?" Kallus was also surprised that Mark was in section D. Jason is for sure one step away from section A while Mark should be able to enter section B normally.

Just what did this guy do again? Kallus thought to himself.

"Well, this idiot sleeps halfway through the entrance exam. It is even a miracle how he could barely enter section D," Jason told Kallus the reason. Hearing this, Kallus just looks at Mark's embarrassed face.

Mark was feeling uncomfortable by Kallus' look, but he really can't help it. He played till 3 am at that time and forgot that he still must take an entrance exam at 6 am. He only got to rest for about 3 hours and even had to tire himself in answering those complicated math questions.

Mark could have started answering other questions but math is his favorite subject so he can't help but answering it first even if he is tired. This may also be the reason why the school put him in section D even though he did not answer the other subjects.

Kallus just looked at Mark warily. He was a bit disappointed that the three of them will be not in the same section. But he was still happy that he has two of his close friends in the same school.

"Have guys seen our other classmates here? I heard that Lindsay is also enrolled here." Kallus asked.

Hearing him say Lindsay's name, both Mark and Jason looked at each other with a knowing smile. Kallus was a bit confused with their look but he was not given much time to think about it as Mark answered him.

"Lindsay and I were in the same room during the entrance exam. She might be also in Section A." Mark smiled at Kallus, but only Jason understood his smile.

Jason said, "You look really stupid in that smile." Pointing to Mark, he then turns to look at Kallus, "We better get going, the flag ceremony is about to start." He motioned behind Kallus.

The students who were in charge of setting up the whole ceremony have finished preparing. They were now about to start attaching the ropes to the flag so they could start.

"Okay, see you guys later." Kallus nodded to Mark and Jason.

"See you later pal, let's meet at the canteen." Mark waved to Kallus as he and Jason started walking toward their line.

Seeing them leave, Kallus also decided to go toward his line.

Section A is the first section in every grade. Every student that manages to enter this section is the best in their previous schools. Whether they are really smart or hardworking, Section A is a place where bright minds gather.
