Marcus and the rest of Delta watched the ICU of Jacinto Hospital. Watching the occupant within.
Alexander was critically injured as he was brought in.
The mechanical beeping of the ICU is what reminding that he is alive.
The dripping of the IV bags was the only thing that is reminding everyone that he is barely clinging on.
Beside him is his standard issue lancer and his helmet that is fixed by Baird.
A doctor came in with news.
"Tell me, how bad is it doc?"
The doctor sighed as he handed Marcus the file.
"Several broken ribs, punctured lung, kidneys and a liver, a cracked skull... And his heart was pieced, I am surprised that he is alive at this point... As if he was like being alive on adrenaline rush for so many days, he was the living dead during the time of his injuries. He set the highest record of sera on being a dead man walking. Perhaps no one could beat that..." The doctor sighed as he looked at Alexander.
"When we did surgery, it was like his organs was rattled and we had to pierced them together hell, we dug out 50 metal fragments... Now then, sir, can you tell me the immediate family of Alexander Tyrus?"
"Uhhh, about that... I don't think that possible... He never told us his relatives or someone close to him." Anthony scratched his helmet.
"Perhaps his family died in the hammer of dawn?" Cole pointed something out.
It was a heavy topic... Everyone in this room had someone lost in the hammer of dawn.
As they left for Alexander.
Baird was shuffling through the data
"No..." Baird pondered as he found a data of Alexander.
"His date of birth is skeptical... But his residence is in Empry Workers district...wait a minute... His identity is forged."
"How so?"
"Is says here that his news is around him pretty much related with the Carmines?"
Anthony rushed and grabbed the dataslate.
A faded picture of his great grandfather was holding hand with a familiar face... Along with four necklaces being handed to his ancestor.
A memory rushed towards him as he realized that Alexander was aware of the necklace.
"So... Is either that that man before us is a time Traveller that came from the past or just a almost perpetual man." Baird resumed his talk.
"Or a doppelgangers that replaced his face."
"That's just a conspiracy theory realm at this point."
"Wait, what did Anya said about him?"
"He moved faster than what the satellites can cover the battle."
"Cog satellites can observe as a clear as a pin being dropped in a brumak Ass. And it can't even cover his movement?"
"He's keeping secrets..."
"But not like Prescott." A voice spoke behind them.
They turned around and found a unlikely man before them.
Hoffman appeared with a bottle of whisky as he sat next to Alexander bed.
"What do you mean by that Hoffman?"
The man scoffed as he poured his whiskey and whirled his amber colored drink as it shine in the afternoon sun. He sipped it as he sighed.
"He is by definition the true last Noble of Tyrus.... He... Never had a family, just a army of employees and clerks by his backing. Looking at him now, he looked the same when the pendulum wars started. Hell, my grandpa told me he looked the same at my grandpa's age."
"Wait, you saying that he is almost 79 years old and he looked like in his early thirties?"
"More than that, private... He saved more lives of our men... What did he said about his ranking." Hoffman queried
"He claims that someone in the higher ups clamped his down his ranking, and the reason he was not in jail, he is linked with the supposed Imperial Church..."
"What he says is half true. He is a commoner turned nobility, had many accolades of medals and honors of the previous monarchy... And what I know, is that there is rumors that he is the original perpetrator of the imperial church itself."
Many eyes widen as they watched the comatose man.
"You mean that highly militant church that absorb the stranded, is by Major Undoing?"
Hoffman sighed as he drank a shot.
"Yeah, didn't believed it when the last previous Chairmen's had affiliation with him from the end of the monarchy itself, it was akin of meeting him... But he is pretty much a de facto a shadow... Or just a puppet of someone worse. And if we actually dared jailed him. The church will turn hostile. And we will facing a three way war. While he is technically a general, his affiliation with the church is disturbing that he was a mixed bag."
Hoffman poured another drink.
"During the pendulum war, Some wanted to kill him, sending him to death zones alone as mission in those areas were akin to dying a man several times over, other wanted to jailed him, and stripped of his rank. But they realized that middle and lower ranks was affiliation with the church... And it almost caused a schism."
"So, in a compromise, Alexander agreed to be regulated to Major as it eased the higher ups that he would be in a position that he would be watched over and more likely chained himself, but his only request is that he delegated and reform Delta squad to Delta team... I could never understand that guy." Hoffman passed a glass with whiskey at Alexander bedside table.
'More like four way war' Marcus internally thought to himself.
Hoffman soberly stood up and gave Delta team their orders.
"Alright, Delta Team, you are tasked to recon and contact the bases in Montevado and Tollen, they been radio silent for the past few days. Reinforcements are being chosen. Find out and report to control."
As Delta left and went to their mission
Hoffman spoke internally.
"God speed..."
Alexander wasn't aware what had happening from the outside.
He felt like he is drifted into the the abyss and shadows enveloped around him. All the armor clad he covered himself slowly slipped into the darkness... The halo he kept it in his heart is slowly disintegrated.
All that remains of Alexander ego of superpower is just a image of a guardsman that drifted to the depth below.
He slowly opened his eyes and found he floating down on a platform that held several potraits, and it held several portraits of the Primarchs that is surrounded his own image that is asleep. And above his portrait was Emperor of Mankind that oversee all.
(A/n: why do I get kingdom hearts vibes?)
And several women portrait stood outside them. He recognized that they were his lovers. And his daughters.
As he landed upon the platform, he found there was a weapon, the Faithblazer that is embedded into the heart of his portrait.
He struggled to released the weapon, but he felt like it weight the world itself, he found another weapon.
A familiar combat shovel. As he grabbed it, its serial number was the same.
"Alexander... Welcome." A voice from the darkness spoke to him.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"Just a lingering echo...come."
A glass stairwell appeared from the darkness and telling him to go up.
As he traverse upwards.
He saw memories of his lives that passed by.
He got a de ja vu feeling as if he been here before...
Like snowflakes that fell down into darkness.
As he reached the top, he found himself staring at several seats that held several armoured figures. And the center of the seats a figure is clapping. He didn't wore a helmet and it was like a identical copy of Alexander.
"Welcome, perhaps it is the first time we met."
"You are...[Possiblity]? The body that I am possessing?"
"Bingo, seemed like you are a smart one." The man chuckle.
The rest chuckle at the motion..
"So this is what is my heart sent too?" A giant among the seated, peered at Alexander.
"So... Am I dead?" Alexander asked.
"Not really dead... But a bit beyond the edge of it." Possiblity smiled.
"What are you, then?"
"We are what lingers in the body part that you managed to acquired... Think of it like a echoes of the soul... Names [Belief] by the way."
"And we been watching you since you left from home."
"And getting your arse kicked." Another chided.
"Yeah, about that..."
"Yeah, you been killed more than I could tolerate... Your mindset is still human..."
"I am facing your traitorous brother after all... Especially the revived ones... There is more than I could handle after all. What's happening to me."
Possibility pondered and spoke.
"You are undergoing what human term... A factory reset. After [Passion] smashed your skull, we all took over, and aided your allies before this body is shut down and you are in coma."
"Fuck."
"What do you expect would happen? You got our body parts and slapped it on without thinking! In mortal term, is like You got the hardware, but not the software compatible as our body is incompatible, you rely on Theseus to duct taped your body from falling apart." Belief bellowed.
"Well, I am on a frikking timetable! 40 bloody years and I don't have the time to spend diagnostic check if we are compatible!"
"In here, time have no definition... In the realm of souls, time is non-existent. We can better train you." One silent figure spoke.
A door raised up and it revealed a entrance.
Alexander stared blankly...
"God no, Training montage?"
"Your training with the Eldars and Necrons is not suitable and just because your body is flexible doesn't mean you can... You have a flimsy foundation, and your focused on psychical than the spiritual... Our traitorous brothers are more balanced and they are not like your enemies of the past that didn't use their powers and fattening you up.. they will use everything to destroy.
Can you handle a meteor going in light speed at your face at close range? Fighting a realm wizard that twisted and bend realities by the whims of a opponent? Or facing infinity without a rest till the planet you are on is disintegrated before you can land a blow?
Father created us to be weapons at first and let us find our purpose the second, sure what we trained you against is already eons older, but old dogs can't learn new tricks. Especially if he revived our dead brothers. you want to get out of this realm... You must complete the trial." Possiblity gestured towards the door next to him.
As he stepped forward, he found himself in a verdant grassland.
Belief stood before him.
His armor now glowed in myriad of colors as he raised his Halbert, and swung as shockwave emanate and ripped the grass apart, Alexander leaped backwards and materialized a Lasgun at him.
"You are cautious, that is a good trait. But what you facing is beyond mere material, our attacks also damaged the soul." Belief huffed as Alexander eyes widen as his flak jacket and Lasgun was rend apart.
"Should I learn this skill?"
"No, you must learn your own path, what you strive for, that is [Belief], you can be blinded on the horors and it will scare you. But there are times you have to believe yourself, I will teach you how to harness my heart. I can absorb all sorts of energies across the universe, amplified it... For peace..."
The armor glowed in a gold light and grassland became more vibrant as the grass reached the waist.
"For destruction..."
He glowed dark and the land itself died and turned to nothingness. Even atoms died.
Alexander felt like his lungs was gasping for air. Another glow he felt oxygen came back.
"See... You may think I am all powerful for just a fragment and I could already defeated my brothers at my prime?" He knelt down as he could tell from Alexander eyes. How is it possible.
"Nay, he took advantage of my kindness of using the civilians as shields as he sent attacks that devoured my soul. What's left of my heart is all that's left... It's a reminder Alexander...
Kindness kills even the most powerful of us. When you have to fight, and he take hostages... You must harden your heart... Or you suffer more. Now, you must learn my skill... So that your beliefs will slice through fate." The armor swing his Halbert and Alexander rolled to the side as the Halbert pierced towards the endless depths...
"You trying to kill me?!"
Belief just swung his Halbert.
"Death, is the best teacher. But seeing that you have a mouth... Why not experience just at the edge of it?" He swung the Halbert as waves of invisible blades rushed over.
Alexander gritted his teeth as he lunged forward, going long range he would not do much damage, and his foolhardy advance lunged towards the storm of invisible blades, several parts if his skin is being lopped off."
"Good, or fool, I never met a man like you!"
He laughed as he swung his blade and swung it to the skies he did as he punched Alexander to the face.
The dry wasteland had a occupant as he crashed into the ground.
He heaved as slowly stood up, he watched as the armor before him held his hand raised and the Halbert now came crashing down with a asteroid stuck to it.
It was 3 kilometers long and 7 kilometers wide. Alexander paled as he watches the hammer lightly grabbed by Beliefs.
"I thought that you are a Halbert user!? Where did that asteroid came from!"
Belief laughed.
"Nah, I am a hammer user, the Halbert is just my handle. Now Alexander, embrace the blows or be sneaky. Enemies don't wait for you to wake up!" He laughed as he swung the now makeshift hammer crashing on Alexander head.
Alexander instinctively knew that even if this place was his soul, getting a attack by that magnitude is going to make him a second coma.
"I must slice it..." He began to believe.
The shovel began to glow.
"Not there... But not there yet" belief chuckle as he swung the massive rock upon Alexander head with a faster tempo.
With so much friction that the asteroid was akin to a flaming small planet.
The sweltering heat and pressure forced Alexander to believe.. to smashed that absurd rock and smack the man before him.
As the he got closer to the man. The meteorite was already inching before his face.
"Here goes nothing!" Alexander screamed as he swung his shovel.
It made contact as his belief of breaking the rock is clashing with the meteorite itself.
He firmly believe that he could cracked the rock as the blade of the shovel pierced the rock, the sweltering heat and flames etched upon his face.
He screamed as what seemed like a eternity, now dissipated in a brief moment.
As the blast and heat waves causing clouds of smoke, he heaved a sighed of relief until a blade of the halberd struck out and pierced his shoulder,he groaned as he felt his body is being lifted and tossed aside.
Belief watched the man groaning before him.
"A lesson for you, just because there is a existential attack missed, doesn't mean that you are in the clear. So always be aware of the opportunity of the dangers... Be overly cautious, never to the point of inaction."
Alexander swung his hand and a laspistol held out and fired at Belief along with it, he tossed bundles of grenades as he tossed into the figure before him.
The attacks combination of laser and explosives splatter across the armor, making a smoke.
"Good idea of using my monologue to slip in a attack. But it is useless if it's not enough to kill." Belief stood out the smoke and the armor is pristine condition.
"This is bullshit!"
"If you can't defeat me in my echo, what can you do if I was in my prime form? I can carry a larger rock, a moon with my Halbert. And I use it to swat fleets." Belief smiled.
Alexander could have not imagine of seeing a figure just standing in space and smacking ships with just this attack alone.
"There are times going melee is a viable solution. Remember our brothers have tactics with handling firearms, melee is the one of many ways to deal with them. So remember."
Alexander slapped him with his shovel and this time the normal combat shovel now glowed with golden light as a copy of his attack, albeit a weaker version slashed at him.
He stumbled back... And found that there was a miniscule dent on his armor. This was the second time in his life, someone did managed to damaged his armor.
Belief smiled as he found potential. He found Alexander is almost passed out.
"Good, perhaps... This is the best you can do... "
Alexander waken up and saw that he was in a bed filled with bandages... Around him was like a normal room and there was a ceiling fan.
Alexander tried to move but he felt that he was strapped to the bed.
"Even if you are just a soul, I did warn you, our attacks damaged the soul." A familiar voice heard behind him.
He looked beside and found that belief is just peeling a apple.
"In my physical body, I am in bed and now in my own soul, I am in bed as well..." Alexander mocking himself.
"And it tempered you, Look, not everyone could have get the greatest teachers of humanity. Your attack is just flimsy but... It had potential."
"Remember Alexander, why we are called the ed and egos of humanity?"
A question that made Alexander pondered.
"Is it because of father ego?"
"No... We are the real representative of our humanity inner desires and what made us human, each of us represent the good and dark of humanity ... [Beliefs]... This is my name not because I can hold all energies to all creation... But I believe that I can and things just happened."
"So you are the definition of humanity attempt to mimic the ork Waaaagh?"
"You had orks over there?" Belief is surprised.
"The one and only... Don't tell me they flooded into there as well? Are you a mass-produced like me? What's your story?"
"No, I just a prototype. The stronger my belief, better the I fight... When my brother betrayed us... It made me wavered... Kept me weak until I found facing him... My conviction collapse when he opened his mouth."
"What do he said?"
"My existence was a abomination... He never talked to me like that... I even sent several moons upon his skull... But he was protected by the darkness."
"What's your dream?"
"Boy, you are too young to think about the dead.... My life ended eons ago... Now begin your training after you recover. If you managed to pass the training at least my standards... You can use about a fifth of my ability." Belief stood up and his clanking of armor was the reminder.
Alexander took time to reflect as he lay on the bed.
"Fuck."
After Alexander recovered, he began his training.
Belief sending hammers made of asteroids and Alexander dodging and attacking it.
Alexander stamina slowly grew. As long as he believed that he could do it. His attacks is able to pierced the concepts.
It took all his mind to handle Belief attack, but as they trained. The day... Or perhaps definition of days passed by. Alexander learned enough that he could instinctively dodged and predict Belief attack.
He could now handle a meteor to his face and his powers slowly awakening.
"Good, Alexander, now you awaken your multitasking. A normal trait for all of us" Belief chuckle as he watched the man was heaving.
Around them is craters and broken debris.
Alexander lay flat on the ground as he spoke.
Alexander looked at the man before him.
"Am I... Passable?"
"Barely, you can now handle whiplash and now able to will your soul into your weapons, had you met me, you would have been my first student, but I am just one of many... " He pointed to another stairwell.
Alexander stopped as he looked at the figure behind him.
"If you were the version of the Emperor sons... What's your true name?"
The armored figure pondered...
"I forgotten it... Go and complete your trials ahead." He beckon Alexander to move forward.
As Alexander left. A androgynous hooded figure stood by Belief..
"Brother... Don't you want to say that you were the version of Vul-"
"Merlin.... Such matters should be left forgotten... He is our final weapon. And weapons don't need to know the user, only to be directed to its enemies." Belief coldy replied.
"I seen you smile brother... Does that mean that the time you spend with him, it is a lie?" Belief scoffed as he waved Theseus away.
"Forget it brother. Just oversee his training." After Theseus left, he touched his chin helmet.... Pondering if he did smiled. For it's been so long since he did smiled...
He stared above the star filled skies and attempted one such endeavors...
He creak the edge of his lips. But sighed as he ventured into the darkness.
Alexander arrived in a ocean that filled with ruined warships of ancient designs.
Forgotten dreams lies in the rusted steel.
Promises of a brighter future is lie dormant
He stood upon the waves...
"Seemed like belief managed to let you in." A voice chuckled.
Alexander turned and watched a man that sat on one of the prow of the ships that is prodded above the sea.
"And you are?"
"Sorry, I forget, I am [Progress] and seemed like you got my legs... How was it?"
"Yeah, it was great... Saved my life's many times"
Alexander felt that armored man before him beamed with excitement.
"So I am here to teach you how to use [Progress], " he spoke.
He disappeared from viewed and jump kicked Alexander to his head.
Alexander used his shovel to block it and the attack created a blast behind him, clearing the ocean into a divide.
"You learn much from him." Progress smiled.
"I learn from the best after all."
"I may not not be the combat oriented among our brothers, but I have more utility." Progress smiled.
"I make chances, innovations and actions. I am what the definition of what drives humanity to be beyond mere beast. Progress to a brighter future and progress to stagnation."
"So you saying that you are probability?"
"Something like that, I turned the absurdity to normalcy. In short words that I will say in your language. I make planet be compliance without firing a gun."
"So you are weak?"
"That's what other say." A voice heard behind him.
Alexander turned around just in time to parey a blow.
Alexander watched as another [Progress] had his legs sticking out, still steaming.
"Like I said... I have more utility than my brothers." Another stepped out.
"Can you handle all of us?" One whispered behind his ears.
(A few hours later)
Alexander fought a horde of Progress clones.
And he is struggling to fight them off while balancing his position in the ocean below him.
They pretend to be clones but each of them have variety of attacks.
One tried to grapple him, other punched him with boxing. And martial arts. As Alexander punched one of them he felt as if he punched a empty air.
"Nah, you got the guts. But not the spirit."
Alexander groaned as he tried to compute all the attacks, but their confusing masses of clones and illusion almost made him mad.
He raised his shovel and attempted to copy Beliefs attack, raising shockwaves and typhoon of invincible blades.
Progress laughed as he along with many of his clones dove into the ocean. As the attack went across their path, harmlessly as it ripped any ships that passes through.
"Great idea. But you are too blind..."
Alexander felt a punch as progress punched him in his chest.
"Oh?" Progress was surprised as he found his fist was grabbed onto and he saw Alexander smirking.
"I finally got you, always wanting to finished the blow... Time for you to receive the interest rates..."
"Can I just get a fixed deposit?" Progress smiled.
"Sorry, there is a bank runoff and customer get the best service!"
He smiled as he punched Progress with his free hand and made him all black and blue.
Each one is getting faster and faster until it was like a blur. The clones attempted to jump into the fight and the sheer shockwave sent them running.
Alexander layed flat alongside with progress on one of the ship prowl.
Around them is covered with corpses of the clones and smoking remains.
Heaving and huffing as they inhale the oxygen.
"You fought well, you managed to find my traits as we fought... You understand the bit of [Progress]" the man beside him spoke.
"Is it done?"
"It just the shortest path. Heh, you just get going before I change my mind." Progress pointed a door and jumped into the ocean.
Alexander rushed forward and looked and there was nothing there.
As Alexander looked forward he found himself staring at a tower that is etching across the sky.
He decided to enter the tower and found it filled with creatures made of darkness
"Fuckin hell, I have to fight my way to the top?!" Alexander groaned.
He smashed one and it disappeared into a puff of smoke. And it slowly reappear.
'figures, it's a test of endurance and how much I could understand my enemies' he internally thought to himself.
The shovel now glowed with light and the dark creatures now began to swarm over him. He release a wave of divine light and it burn the wave of darkness.
But the brighter the light, the greater the darkness that attempted to swallow him.
He pressed onwards as he slowly inched his way to the top... Days... Weeks... Or even months... He slowly inched to the top with just willpower alone.
He met the gatekeeper of a giant that is filled with shadows and be just swatted the dark giant careening off the stairway.
"Aye.. laddie ya famished over here?" A voice sounded before him.
A cheery fellow stood before him with a bowl of soup and a table behind him.
"Want Irish Stew? Fresh from pot."
"Just let me rest sir... I just need to accomplish my goals."
He felt that the man before him held him down with his hand alone.
"Lad, ya betah take ya time, ya at burnin yurself out, a sound mind is needed to use mah powers and it's unstable as fock I sense from ye." He guided Alexander to the table.
The scent of fresh food wafted into his mind.
"Are you trying to poison me or what?"
He promptly got a smack on the head.
"I lookin out for ya wellbeing lad, no use if ya are deader than a starvin wolf." The man before him pushed the bowl of stew before him.
Alexander paused and he ate his meal in silence...
"What? Ye think I was going on a foight with ya? Some form of epic bashing while I teach my knowledge into ya body with mah bare fist??"
Alexander nodded .
"Yesh, ya definitely got my brotha tenacity for a bout then... I am a bluddy magician... Or a psyka fa ya information.... I prefer doing long range than gettin up close and personal.... Neva think that all our brothers are like me." He smiled as he stoke a timber at the fire place nearby.
"So... What are you teaching?"
"Patience... Lad... Patience is the key, here's mah trial.... Use the power of the warp to open the gate to the next stage." He pointed to the gate at the end of the room.
It was encrusted with purple ice and flames.
Dragons and thorns scattered across the door.
Alexander sighed as he sat down in front of it as he attempted to pry into the door.
It was intricate with psychic locks that is so meshed that he would go bonkers.
If he rushed, the locks would break and no doubt the room would be in flames and demons poured out.
Alexander began to use the warp, each locks
Was different and needed to understand.
Each senses, each touch, he unlocked one...
What felt like a eternity and a infinity amount of locks, he found that his soul is strengthen to the point that he felt that his soul can become a real manifestation.
He turned towards the man.
"Aye, Laddie, ya got a boost, what comes next is not very so lenient of all of us... Before ya go... How was the stew?" His armored helm didn't stopped the twinkling of the eyes beneath it.
"It was delicious.... Thanks for reminding me. That patience is also a thing I never considered."
He sighed as he entered the door, he smiled at the man that stood behind him.
"Thanks..."
"No... Thank ye, ya got us a fightin chance against my brothas that betrayed our father! When ya meet mah fallen, give him a good bashing for ole me!" He laughed as he waved Alexander off.
He found himself facing a burning castle gate, and a man wielding a familiar fire sword in hand and a shield strapped to his back. He raised his sword and pointed at him.
"Seemed like those slackers just let you off easy. But I will not."
"So you must be the owner of Faithblazer?"
"Indeed I am [Defiance], and I find that you wield my blade unworthy."
"Then I shall make it so that you will approve of me!" Alexander growl as he release his shovel into a stance.
The knight before him have a side wind as his slash, his blade and Alexander shovel echoed in the flamed filled ruins.
Sparks of fire and metal clashing echoed the burning city.
A gush of wind and debris bursted into the sky as Alexander found himself blasted into one of the buildings.
Alexander heaved as he watched the man before him raised his shield as he blocked Alexander blows.
"Typical of Belief, a shoddily made product." He side kicked Alexander to another section of the city, leaving a trail of burnt debris and dust in his wake.
"Your willpower got this far, but you have no intent, no purpose ! you are just taking me lightly!" Defiance bellowed.
"I came here to save my home!' Alexander leaped forward as he clashed once more into defiance.
"Your ideals is weak! There are bigger things in life than protecting your galaxy! There are more purpose driven champions I seen in life, the galaxy doesn't need a protector! It doesn't need to be coddled by your blanket affections!" Defiance bellowed a he dropkick Alexander and used the momentum to put his blade like a makeshift catapult. Launching himself after Alexander.
Alexander struggled as he watched the man is reaching up to him in a speed beyond his control. He tried to question himself...
"My family" he muttered.
"What is your purpose! To die meaningless for people that don't give a frakkin shit about you?!"
"No! I want to save my family!"
"A weak notion... I killed trillion of people that had that ideals"
"I avenge my family, I avenge my sister, I avenge-" so much predicted bull shit I killed all the enemies that defy against my creator and you have clung to remains of humanity and I know beneath that skin is a coward of hypocrisy!"
"Embrace of what you are becoming, you already swept past the definition of humanity!
You wear my brother skin, and you never go all out! That sort of mentality is for cowards and conmen!"
Alexander sighed as he clench his shovel, it was battered and the sharpen edges have been dulled for so long.
"Fine" was his words.
Defiance felt something before him.
The warp howled around Alexander as he formed into a more suitable frame.
A halo began to appear before Alexander head as he held the shovel now reforged into a Warhammer.
"Don't mind me if I go all out." He disappeared before defiance gaze, the knight felt something behind him and he blocked it with his shield, a trap that held a makeshift rocket launcher was launched.
He found that throughout the burning city, he felt murderous malice upon him.
As defiance rushed to find Alexander, every traps and mines that have been scattered is now emitting Alexander signature an his hatred.
"Come out coward!" Defiance bellowed.
"I reminded of who I am... I work in the shadows and I die within it. Take your time brother... I will win this fight... By my own ways." A voice echoed.
Defiance turned the city upside down.
He met mocking words echoing within.
"You have no jurisdiction over my soul... But I can already taste my path... Victory so close ..."
The knight paled as he realized that Alexander drunk the warp so much that he became a different entity altogether...
It was as if the city he was used to defending is now turned against him.
He saw Alexander beginning to glitch as if phasing in a out of reality.
But his armor is slowly changing...
Defiance gritted his teeth and lunged towards him as to stop the corruption from spreading. And what he pierced was a body made of c-5000 explosives shaped like him.
A simple click.
Another explosion erupted no bigger than the last. And he envelope in a cloud of smoke. As he swing his blade to scattered the clouds of smoke, a giant moon now heading towards him...
As he swung his blade that sliced the moon in half, Alexander crept out and shot him with several lasguns that is floating beside him.
Volley upon volleys of imperial Lasgun envelope the armor, it didn't do much but to provoke defiance into a rage.
He roared as he charged towards Alexander.
And sliced him and found that it was a decoy filled with explosives and it exploded once more.
Alexander silently walked out towards the knight than knelt down and used his sword as his propping stick.
"Coward!" He spat.
Alexander looked at him indifferently.
"Do you know why I simply don't give it my all?"
"It was because you... Failed to see the bigger picture."
"Sure, I need that sword, but if you are so arrogant to not even give me acknowledged me as a successor, I can find another weapon to make use of."
Alexander remember that he was in the memory of the man that defended the castle... From the traitors.
The knight sat down as he begrudgingly gave him his authority over his sword.
"I vowed that your vengeance will be sated, I will use this sword to defend what I believe in..." Alexander spoke as he felt a familiar touch of Faithblazer once more.
As he walked past the burned filled city, he found himself upon a castle.
He found himself walking among the burning corridors, he somehow felt familiar in this place... Like he's been here before...
Alexander came upon a broken throne room, countless broken seats and burnt wooden table eclipse human sized surrounded the throne, it was as if it had a great fire that envelope the room
The final person sat upon the ash filled throne and shattered glass.
"So... You have come..." Possiblity spoke looking at the man that barged into the room.
"Well, I have come to finish my trials... How long was I been in that trials?
"Forty thousand years, give or take." The man smiled before him.
As he stood up, he stepped down upon his throne, angelic wings now sprouted from his back.
"Now then, if you win against me, I will relinquish my authority to you..." He spoke as he slowly release his blade.
It was as if light itself became the blade. Alexander felt holiness from it.
"If you lose... I will regained my consciousness." He pointed at Alexander.
"For I am [Possibility], the one that decide fate to be my muse or a slave, For I am true King Arthur and I will judge if you are worthy to be the new successor of our cause."
Alexander smiled as he release both his shovel and the newly formed Faithblazer.
"Then let us not wait no longer."
They two clash, sweeping up dust and ash as they fought in the broken castle.
The shockwaves erupted once more as they fought for the right to return to the living.
Both had their reasons and different path to achieve it.
Alexander duel wielding his weapons. He release several telekinetic weapons after Possibility, lasguns that is floating by the millions echoed at once and it was parried back at the sender.
"You do know I am you right? I seen those weapons myself after all."
"Nah, I know, but I just had time for a big distraction." Alexander smirked.
Possibility floated a bit to the side.
A tungsten rod swept past. Piercing the ground.
"Well, distraction one and two is a failure..."
"You do know that trickery and deceit is powerless towards those that had strength?"
"Nah, just trying anyway." Alexander rushed forwards as he clashed once more.
The damage was done that the throne room is collapsing, Possibility flew out and Alexander used the falling debris as a makeshift jumping platforms.
As he reached the top, he found Possibility waiting for him. Him staring at the burning inferno below them.
"This was my home... I never wanted this, I never wanted my brothers to die . meaningless death." He raised his sword to the heavens.
As he turned towards Alexander.
"Now... Let us fight once more."
They clash once more, each blow weakening the foundation beneath them.
Their strikes and slice created a blast that swept across the city with such force that the flames were put out.
Possiblity flew down and Alexander jumped down to chase after him, opportunely attack him with brute force and patience.
They reached the center of the city, a burnt out plaza that held resemblance of civilization.
As Possiblity now lunged towards him, Alexander found himself waiting for the first blow, he gritted and readied his blade once more. They clash once more, his beliefs and possiblity desires, clash to the point that Alexander believe in himself a he manages to crack the blade and embedded his sword to possibility heart... The winged angel now rested to the ground beneath him.
"Congratulations.... You succeeded. Your beleif is stronger than my desire... "
Alexander felt he was dragged out of the the former burnt city. And found himself staring at the thrones, all the damage that he inflicted upon them was no longer to be seen.
"What a fitting end for both of us... The old will hand the dreams to the ones that cared. Possiblity spoke.
"Aye, ya had a good fightin, congratulations"
"Wow, I am impressed that you managed to get this far"
"No... Comment." Defiance spoke.
"As a reward, you can now leave, and find that your soul is now strengthen to the battles ahead of you.
As Alexander watched a doors
that lead outside, he looked back and saw the supposed brothers and mentors that helped him be fixed.
"Am I going to see you again?"
Possiblity smiled as he spoke.
"We are always be with you, Alexander... Nay... Brother. The moment you wake up, we are already part of your ego."
"Jeeez, I hate saying goodbyes."
"Aye Laddie, Jus get going or ya open the waterworks in mah teary eyes!"
"I have no words to say to you. Coward" defiance spoke silently in the end.

Alexander opened his eyes and smiled...
"Time to clean that bastard up"
He ripped off the IV bags and grabbed his lancer.
A nurse came to check up on Alexander room and found that he went missing.
A note was placed on the bedside table.
"Inform Colonel Hoffman that I am going to convince the Imperial Church to send more aid
- Alexander Tyrus"
(A/n): Happy Easter and I hope that your lives is a healthy day.
Just having withdrawals lately from unable to use my anti depressants that ran out a couple of weeks ago... One of the reasons why my writing is slowed down, when I had this... So called "psychotic attacks", repressed memories of 5 years is rushing to my head all at once...
My regrets and choices is coming back to haunt me.
It took my willpower to not offed myself with a Glock beside my bed or the cynid8 pills I kept in the basement. I am not the type to go rushing to out to the world and make other people miserable. Like a school shooting.
Everyone have their own problems.
I simply smiled and assure them that there is a much more grander purpose in life for them. A supporting character perhaps?
Some people say depression is a mirror reflection.
Been fighting it for so long, I forgotten what's like to be normal.
It knows what I kept in the back of mind, my regrets. And torturing me of what my life could have been... If I just took that step.
A life of being rich or being in a high society.
A life of being married.
A life of being successful than being a slum dweller.
My dead friends talked to me while I am in solitude, why... Why am I still alive and they are dead... They were better than me in every way, smarter, stronger, more socially accepted.
I been guarding a tabletop that have no one is coming back to join, no dm that send us crazy quest, no bard that told me as a veteran to no make crazy stunts, no bantering... I knew most of them died off during covid, I am pretending all this time to think that they are alive, but I knew that as I unable to even able to attend their funerals... I kept their mini figs and their character sheets they left behind.
It tormented me for several weeks that I almost unable to identify what is reality or my nightmares.
My wonderland of remorse.
Sorry for this slow release...
I need time to filter out what is real and what is fake. Fingers crossed that I just somehow managed to negotiate with my own darkness.
