After spending a day with us, Mother Ai returned home alongside Tan Yunxian, leaving Gao Chen and I to raise Li Yue on our own.
The days after birthing my baby girl were rather tiring, but incredibly rewarding as she clamored for my attention and clung to me.
Little Yue was, again, just like her mother Gao Chen; she was a futanari, she had beautiful sun kissed skin, and a singular tuft of gray hair that contrasted against the pitch black of the rest of her hair.
However, she wasn't, so far, an identical copy of Gao Chen, especially personality wise; Little Yue was a quiet girl that didn't make much noise, preferring to instead observe everything and take her time learning.
It was... interesting, to say the least; both Mother and Tan Yunxian had told me that I should expect sleepless nights and exhaustion because of needing to cater to her needs, but Little Yue was rather tame for a baby.
To the point that Gao Chen had been worried and called Tan Yunxian back over, asking for a doctors analysis on Little Yue.
I was... livid, at her quick decision to label Little Yue as having some kind of problem, and I made that rather clear to her, displaying an uncharacteristic shout at my wife.
We were both stunned by that, freezing in the bedroom all while the baby in question sat on the bed, dressed in a cute little orange robe that was a size too large for her.
Gao Chen's eyes hardened slightly as she glared at me, her voice icy as she muttered "Did you just..?"
Under the heavy weight of her pinning gaze, I would normally clam up and backtrack, apologizing profusely before begging for forgiveness, but...
Gulping, I pushed past my rapidly beating heart and spoke, my voice shaky.
"Y-Yes, I did. T-There is nothing wrong w-with our daughter! J-Just because she doesn't cry a dozen times an hour doesn't m-mean she has s-some... some d-defect!"
Meeting her glare, I grit my teeth as I tried to will my body to stop shaking, waiting for her response.
Tilting her head down a little and narrowing those orange eyes of hers, she stepped forwards and whispered "Did you just... shout? At me?"
Standing still, I looked up into her eyes as she closed the gap between us, before I felt her hand appear on my throat before I could even blink.
Her fingers wrapped around my neck with ease, and she squeezed gently as she leaned down, a chilly smile on her face as she whispered "Don't think that your... position has changed much, little bunny. We may be wed, but you are still my thing. I own you. I cater to your whims to keep this smooth, not because I... particularly want to. Do I make myself clear?"
Gao Chen's ginger scent washed over me, and I shivered as her hand tightened slightly, forcing me to gasp as my windpipe was blocked.
"If I wish to call Doctor Tan over to check up on Li Yue, I'll call her. If I wish to have a plethora of Doctors, Healers, and Sages over to look at her and tell me she's alright, then I will do so. Why are you against getting a simple check up, Yichen? Hmm? I'm not sending her away, just... making sure. Is that so hard to understand?"
Reaching up, I clawed at her hand as she spun me away, hiding my figure from our child.
Nodding, I felt Gao Chen slowly loosen her grip, her eyes never once wavering as she stared me down.
Releasing me fully, she watched me scary over to Li Yue as I quickly scooped my baby up and comforted her, all while I warily looked at Gao Chen.
Stroking Li Yue's hair, I kept her close to my bosom, guarding her as if I believed Gao Chen would snatch her from me.
Seeing that, the tanned woman sighed quietly before turning around and leaving, saying "I'll send a letter over to Doctor Tan now."
Only when she had been gone for a few minutes did I relax, collapsing onto the bed and holding my daughter closer to me, comforting myself with her warmth.
Not even a day later Tan Yunxian showed up, and I watched her diagnose Li Yue with...
Nothing.
In fact, now that Li Yue had been alive for a little while, she was able to get a grasp on what Qi Little Yue was compatible with.
And... she was a talented little thing, Li Yue.
She inherited the Dark Qi from Gao Chen, and the Water Qi from me, meaning she could also learn Ice Qi techniques should she create a balance between the two on her own, mixing them to create Ice Qi.
Little Yue also had a rare physique called 'Seabed Meridians', which allowed her to draw in more natural Dark and Water Qi, which would make her cultivation journey much, much easier.
When Gao Chen learned that, she was ecstatic, going so far as to grin and kiss me like nothing had happened between us, something that made me both happy and angry.
I was happy because, simply put, I was desiring her touch more often now that I was able to be with her physically again.
However, I was angry that she acted like there was nothing wrong with what she did earlier...
Of course, I was also happy for my daughter, proud of the fact that she was, in fact, a talented little girl, and that when she came of age, she would be able to be shown off to the world as a genius.
And of course, she would need to be nurtured and guided well, something that I was already beginning to plan out as best I could, but that was something that required real experience in raising a child...
Something that I hoped I would be able to excel at in the future...
