Chapter 669: Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill

General Meng Tian was hesitant as he kept on looking at the Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill in his hand. As soon as he had taken it out of his spatial ring, it had emitted a powerful blood aura as well as killing intent. Immediately, General Meng Tian had restrained it with his own blood and Wei Qi. Unfortunately, Cao Yun didn't feel the coming of the pill as he was busy dealing with the Supplicant Tyrants. His enemies were frightening and Cao Yun had to focus on this fight so he couldn't spread his senses too far away. Besides, the blood aura around the pill only lasted an instant so Cao Yun didn't feel this small disturbance.

If he had, Cao Yun would have noticed that this pill was not simple. First of all, this was clearly a 1-star Spirit pill. In the Piaolu planet, since the Forsaken Dao Era, only Xiao Xuefeng and Hua Fenfei had been able to refine such a pill. The mere existence of this pill was a miracle. But more than that, the aura of Demon God Da Mo was surrounding this pill. Dian Mo or Cao Yun would have felt it in an instant had they been close enough.

Looking at the bright red pill in his hand, General Meng Tian felt both his blood and his very soul gush with vitality. But at the same time, it was like looking at a ferocious beast. The pill could bring General Meng Tian's cultivation to new heights but it could just as easily destroy him completely, devour everything that he was. While he was in doubts, he looked back at the fight.

Below General Meng Tian, his demons were all dead or being dealt the finishing blow. All around the Temple of the Lesser Blood King was now a large pool of blood in which the surviving demonic beasts were literally drinking as well as eating the flesh of his own soldiers. And above, Cao Yun had broken two of the rotten corpses sent by the Temple of Grace and Submission. General Meng Tian could only imagine what such a failure would entail for him. At the same time, taking this pill might turn him in a husk of what he was. He wouldn't be much different than the Supplicant Tyrants. However, if he could endure it, he would become so much stronger. General Meng Tian didn't trust those priests at all. Clearly they were using him as a guinea pig for their pill. Sadly, he didn't think he had any choice.

For an instant, General Meng Tian thought about joining the rebels. But his whole life had been his career. He knew how to rise within the administration of the Empyrean Asura Theocracy but he didn't know how to life any other way. Besides, the rebels wouldn't want him after everything he had done. At the very least, they would even up getting rid of him. Moreover, Cao Yun would kill him before that, if only to silence him. Indeed, General Meng Tian had found out Cao Yun was a human. In fact, Cao Yun didn't care that the Empyrean Asura Theocracy knew he was human. But he didn't want that information to reach the Hongchen Kingdom as it could make someone guess Cao Yun was using both human and asura cultivation systems.

By the time General Meng Tian made his decision, the last Supplicant Tyrant had been slain. His corpse had been completely consumed by Cao Yun's Black Heart Flame. The young man had digested him whole and even kept the armor, stored in his spatial ring. Studying it might be useful. Since the priests were experimenting with Death Energy and Ghost Energy, it made Cao Yun want to learn even more. After all, he had reached this level of knowledge thanks to Cleansed Asura's documents and he was wondering how those priests who had never left the Piaolu planet could have achieved similar results.

Now that Cao Yun had no other enemy than General Meng Tian, he focused all his senses on the 6th-grade Accomplished Demon. As soon as he did so, Cao Yun noticed the faint blood aura. Even he couldn't tell what it was but a voice within his sea of consciousness could.

"Boy, kill him! Now!"

With no hesitation whatsoever, Cao Yun obeyed Dian Mo's orders. He didn't even try to ask him why he was ordering him around. Despite the circumstances of their first meeting, Cao Yun now trusted Dian Mo with his life. To be fair, Dian Mo had nearly died to help Cao Yun against Demon King Mo Wang. And he had been prepared to die.

Cao Yun mobilized all of his strength. His entire body was bathed in a golden hue from his Spear Heart while his spear had turned into a large dark blue dragon surrounded by lightning swords and tremendous gale spreading the Black Heart Flame around Cao Yun. His Black Heart Flame was now even stronger as it had absorbed so much Death Energy and Gost Energy. In the sky, the Seven Piercing Stars had broken through the sky as though it was glass. Cao Yun's aura was tyrannical as he had pushed his 'Dragon's Heart' to the limit. At the moment, Cao Yun would have probably been able to kill an 8th-grade Spirit Warrior with this single strike. Even a 9th-grade Spirit Warrior would have been injured. It was so bad he couldn't maintain such a strength for too long. Besides, he had to use both his cultivation systems so he couldn't hide anything at all.

Behind Cao Yun, one could faintly see a shadowy figure created not by his Qi Manifestation but by his very soul. It was hard to know what it was but it looked similar to Axiu Qian as it had several arms. Cao Yun was absolutely using everything he could at the moment. He had even gulped down a pill to recover as much as he could. In his sea of consciousness, even Dian Mo was surprised by such power.

Cao Yun's spear reached General Meng Tian. The demon felt as though his throat was already being pierced. This sensation spread through his entire body. Under Cao Yun's Spear Heart, General Meng Tian could feel the spear only stabbing through every part of his body. A stabbing pain took over his heart and he was more terrified than ever in his entire existence. He was staring at death incarnate. There was no emotion on Cao Yun's face, and yet his eyes were piercing General Meng Tian's soul. The general couldn't move at all.

Under such an onslaught, General Meng Tian stopped suppressing the Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill in his palm. As such, it took a life of its own. Undisturbed by Cao Yun's approach, the Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill flew right into General Meng Tian's chest. It didn't go through his mouth, it penetrated his body through his sternum, ripping flesh and breaking bones. General Meng Tian was so paralyzed by Cao Yun's approach that he didn't even notice the pain. However, he noticed it once the Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill entered his very heart.

The Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill literally took the place of his heart, completely consuming his organ and replacing it. As it happened, General Meng Tian's sea of consciousness collapsed. It became completely red with a dense mist of blood. Nothing else could be seen but this red vibrant mist. General Meng Tian felt pain as he had never felt before. In his veins, his blood was expelled. All around the general, a red mist appeared in the physical world.

When Cao Yun's attack landed, it collided with this red mist and was pushed back. For an instant, Cao Yun looked as though he was immobile in the air as his 'Tainted Heavenly Pillar' simply couldn't go further. All the force behind his attack erupted forth. Even the Temple of the Lesser Blood King was heavily damaged on the ground as the demonic beasts were prostrating themselves on the ground to endure it. But it didn't move the red mist. Of course, most of the cloud of blood was indeed swept away in the storm. But what remained was enough to slow down Cao Yun's attack until it had almost no momentum left.

In a sense, the entire blood cultivation of General Meng Tian, his entire life really, had been used to block Cao Yun's move. But even then it shouldn't have been enough, there was more behind it.

"Dodge!"

Obeying Dian Mo's command once more, Cao Yun moved out of the way right when a bloody chain pierced through the red mist. Cao Yun recognized it right away. It was the same kind of chains Demon God Da Mo's body had used in the Wubei Sect. Now, Cao Yun knew why Dian Mo was so worried. General Meng Tian's body had tripled in size. His skin was completely red and he had no hair whatsoever but golden lines here and there. General Meng Tian had almost become a pure asura and he was brimming with the aura of Demon God Da Mo.

In his now completely black eyes, Cao Yun could tell that his mind was gone for good. Every General Meng Tian had been was now dead. Even Cao Yun wouldn't be able to get anything out of him, his soul had been consumed by this blood aura. And nothing had replaced it. This red monstrosity had not a single hint of intelligence. It would just rampage and kill, moved by its own killing intent.

And right now, its target was Cao Yun. The young man couldn't tell for sure, but this red monster was probably even stronger than a 9th-grade Accomplished Demon. But thankfully it wasn't as strong as a 1st-grade Exalted Demon. Otherwise, Cao Yun would probably already be seriously injured or even dead depending on its strength. Cao Yun's only advantage was the lack of intelligence of the creature. It could only use brute strength and it did.

From its red body, many chains covered in blood erupted. They went in random directions. Down below, the Temple of the Lesser Blood King was completely destroyed by those chains while Hongyu was ordering her demonic beasts to leave the battlefield. But she didn't leave, Hongyu was determined to help Cao Yun face this abomination. Since the chains didn't go after any specific target, the young man was able to dodge them rather easily. That being said, he still felt the air pressure around those chains. He couldn't afford to get hit.

Suddenly, a roar erupted from the monster's throat. Cao Yun felt it deeps in his bones, but it also shook his very soul as well. His Turbid Demons were getting more and more excited. Among them, Cao Yun's Devouring Robber was the most impacted as it hadn't been tamed yet. Besides, Cao Yun had absorbed a lot of Death Energy which quite literally was the ultimate form of the Po of Death, the untainted version of the Devouring Robber. Some of that Death Energy was spiraling toward the Devouring Robber. Under the pressure from this red monster, Cao Yun had a hard time restraining the Devouring Robber. It was doing what Cao Yun had planned for it but out of Cao Yun's control so it wasn't good at all.

Thankfully, Dian Mo was there this time. Although he was still a bit weak, Dian Mo manifested as the Temple of Supreme Wisdom and crushed Devouring Robber. The Turbid Demon's form was still a shadowy mess but it was now crushed beneath the large temple. A bit of Death Energy still entered it as it was trying to absorb it but it was not a danger at all for the time being. The threat was the red monstrosity.

"Boy, this thing is unstable. It won't last long. But it will do everything it can to last as long as it can."

"And let me guess, blood will sustain it."

Before Dian Mo could respond, the pool of blood all around the Temple of the Lesser Blood King was sucked dry by the bloody chains. Then, the monster turned its eyes toward Cao Yun. The very next instant, it was right in front of Cao Yun. The young man barely had enough time to dodge the next strike. In a swift move, the red monster tried to simply grab Cao Yun's heat with its bare hands. But the young man blocked the monster's forearm with his spear. The bones of his arms screamed in agony but Cao Yun endured.

All around the red abomination, Cao Yun could already feel that its blood aura was diminishing. It was crumbling under its own strength. Indeed, the Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill was incapable of controlling its power so it was going all out and consuming itself. Cao Yun simply had to wait for the pill to consume all of its strength and the monster would either die of become so weak anyone could kill it. The main problem was obviously to live long enough for that to happen. Thankfully, the monster lacked any form of intelligence.

Looking all around him, Cao Yun perceived the demonic beasts and Hongyu. He had to prevent the red monster from devouring them as it would make it last longer. As such, Cao Yun would count on his speed as well as Hongyu's. They had to make the abomination chase them until it collapsed because it had used all of its strength. Sending a telepathic message to Hongyu, Cao Yun flew around the monster. He didn't go too far because he didn't want the creature to leave.

Although it had no form of intelligence, a kind of frustration, or rather desperation, began to manifest itself. that was when Hongyu arrived. Seeing the bird, the red monster changed its target. Since the human was too hard to get, it would try to devour that bird. But Hongyu was also extremely fast. She avoided the attacks and the bloody chains without much problem. In fact, she even restrained her speed so the monster would have the impression that she was struggling. To be fair, it wasn't too easy for her to dodge everything, but it wasn't as hard as she made it look like.

Cao Yun and Hongyu made the red abomination chase the both of them higher and higher above the clouds. Both of them were tired, but they could distinctly feel that the Blood Gushing Holy Heart pill was getting weaker and weaker as well. At the same time, it was being more desperate and sending more and more attacks toward the two of them. Despite all of its strength, that creature could not rival Hongyu or Cao Yun. However, Cao Yun shuddered. If General Meng Tian had been able to keep his sanity while taking this pill, Cao Yun would have almost certainly been killed.
