ODETTE'S POINT OF VIEW

Everyone was puzzled about what happened last night. I lay there, staring blankly at the ceiling, refusing to move or eat anything all day. My stomach growled, but I ignored it. I was consumed by the echo of betrayal. How could he still cheat on me—after he proposed? Was the ring just a distraction? A lie wrapped in gold? Does he still love her? Then where does that leave me? Was I only filling the emptiness she left behind? Just a convenience until she returned?
