HIS CONFESSION

[LENA]

When I woke up the next day, I stepped outside the bedroom to see that Luca wasn't back yet from checking out the settlement as he had told me.

I was annoyed at myself.

I had plans last night, but I wasn't able to accomplish them because I had quickly fallen asleep. I wanted to wait for Luca to go to sleep first before creeping out to join him on the floor. The floor, the bed — I didn't really care where we were just as long as I could be with him longer.

I smiled, touching my lips absently as I recalled our long-overdue reconciliation yesterday.

Something had changed inside me. It took way too long for us to get here, but I was just so happy that we finally reached this point in our relationship. That happiness filled me with boundless energy and vigor.

Staying inside the cabin was making me restless. I rummaged for something to wear inside the drawers of the rickety dresser.
