KEEP MYSELF AFLOAT

In spite of the beautiful moment we had in the meadow, Luca still wouldn't share the bedroom with me later that night. We had even dozed off while snuggling together in the moss. There wasn't any difference between mossy ground and a bed. I didn't know what his problem was.

The next day, I found Luca sitting at the table. He smiled brightly when he saw me. "Good morning, Lena. I foraged some fruit. Come, eat."

I pulled up the chair opposite him and grabbed an apple from the table. It was the smallest apple I'd ever seen. Luca settled back on his chair and folded his arms to his chest, staring at me as I ate.

"What's up?" I asked, covering my mouth as I chewed.

"Nothing." He continued staring at me with a big smile.

"Well, don't just look at me like that." Growing more self-conscious, I grabbed another apple, but he caught it before I could push it into to his mouth.
