THE BEST LIFE POSSIBLE

Andre took me to the library. It was the most private place he could think of without being overheard or seen. Leaving the guards outside, we entered the dimly lit library and headed to the reading area by the window.

Placing down a lamp on a nearby table, Andre joined me beside the window to gaze out at the midnight blue sky. The moon and the stars were bright that night.

Neither of us spoke. I didn't know where to begin. There were so many things I wanted to apologize for and thank him for.

Andre's commitment was ridiculously admirable. He never gave up on me, despite the months that passed. He could've presumed me dead and canceled the betrothal. He could've taken that opportunity to be free of a forced life, but he didn't.
