Chapter 8

I am pretty sure that she must have been impatiently waiting for the answer I was going to give her today.

Today is the third day of the deadline she gave me to think about what she said that time about her wanting to make me her boyfriend.

Actually, I could have accepted her declaration of love right away. But I much prefer to let her wait for the answer I will give her.

I want her to keep thinking about me for these three days to the point where she could not sleep because she keeps thinking about the answer to her declaration of love three days ago.

After that, I'll take her to a place that I want to show her. I can't wait to see her reaction later.

Did you finish your work now?

I sent the text to the number she gave me three days ago. I purposely didn't contact her after she gave me her cell phone number with the same purpose. While playing with my phone, I waited for an answer from her.

I thought you had forgotten it. Yes, I'm done.

I smiled and was satisfied reading her reply earlier.

I didn't forget it. If so, I'll wait in the parking lot. Wait for me there, okay?

After sending that message, I immediately grabbed my briefcase and my coat before exiting my room.

I purposely quickened my pace because I didn't want to let her wait there too long.

Unfortunately, the elevator near my room was out of order, so I was forced to choose the option of going to the parking lot by the emergency stairs.

I'll make sure the person in charge of the elevator fixes it right away or I'll fire him from his job.

Fifteen minutes later, I finally made it to the parking lot. Hannah was already standing a little nervously near my car before she saw me, who was rushing over to her.

"Sorry I'm late. The elevator is out of order, so I have to use the emergency stairs to come here."

She didn't respond to my apology at all. Instead, she pulled my hand until I sat in front of my car. Her hand then moved across my face, which was still wet with sweat, before she brought her hand to my upper body.

"Well, that's fine. As long as I can get the answer to my question three days ago."

"About that..."

"Hmm? Why?"

"What if I refuse your declaration of love?"

"It's okay. I'll respect whatever you decide. Besides, I understand if you want to reject my declaration of love three days ago."

She then brought her face closer to mine, to the point that I could barely think of anything other than the smell of the sea that wafted from her perfume, which was so soothing to me, and her eyes that I just realized that she seemed to be sleep deprived lately.

"Hannah?"

She didn't answer my call at all and kept looking at me before leaning her head on my left shoulder.

Then next, I found her sleeping on my left shoulder as if my left shoulder was a pillow she could use whenever she wanted. I tried not to laugh and carried her into my car. After fastening my seatbelt, I rushed into my car and left the parking lot to a place I had prepared as a surprise for her.

Halfway through, she opened her eyes. She looked surprised when she saw her surroundings that had changed and saw me, who was now turning to her.

"Already up?"

"I overslept, didn't I?"

I nodded slowly and turned my gaze back to the road in front of me. "Looks like you haven't been getting enough sleep lately. Are you that busy?"

"Not really. I guess… because I spend my weekends watching several series on Netflix for two days almost non-stop."

I stopped my car as soon as I saw the red light flashing and then turned to look at her. "You mean, you spend your weekends watching Netflix until your eye bags are that puffy?"

She blinked her eyes in amazement. "Eh? Can you see my puffy eyes?"

"Yeah. It's pretty obvious from what I see on your face."

"Even though I covered it with a CC cushion. Huh, I didn't expect it would still be visible in the end."

"Next time add that concealer under your eyes. I am sure it will definitely be more convincing. But I don't think even a concealer will be able to cover your panda eyes."

"Why?"

"Instead of worrying about your panda eyes, why didn't you ask where we were going? You seem very relaxed and act as if you already know the place where we are going to go right now."

"I already know where you are taking me."

My car drove back as soon as the red light changed to green light and turned my car to the left of the road. "Oh, really? Then can you tell me where we are going right now?"

"Burger King, right?"

I immediately turned to her in shock. "I believe it must be the place you want to stop by at this time, don't you?"

"But I'm famished. I want to eat a fish burger, strawberry sundae, french fries and fried chicken."

"Did you just order food right away? What are we in front of the drive thru?"

"Yes. That's why I want you to direct your car there. Then we can eat over there."

"Even though I have prepared a special place for our dinner tonight."

"No problem. I just happen to not eat all day. I am sure my stomach can hold as much food as possible."

"Don't say you are fasting today. Do you?"

She shook her head in disagreement. "I told you, didn't I? I watched Netflix almost non-stop for two days."

"So what does that have to do with you not eating all day?" I protested, directing my car to where she had indicated earlier. "Wait a minute. Don't tell me the last time you ate was yesterday morning?"

"Exactly. You're great, you can tell right away. Argh, I am really hungry."

Taking a deep breath, I parked my car into the parking lot before unbuckling my seatbelt and her seatbelt, while she seemed to be busy looking around with a gaze full of admiration.

"I didn't expect you to actually take me to this place."

"You're the one who asked. What's going on?"

"Just a moment, okay? A special service will come to you right away."

Before I could ask what she meant earlier, she immediately got out of my car and ran towards the door of the car where I was sitting. Then she opened my car door and put her hand on the roof of the car so it wouldn't hit my head when I got out of my car.

"Please, Your Majesty."

"Your act is so insulting, even though we're at Burger King right now," I said, getting out of my car rolling my eyes.

"Precisely because you will be the king who treats me today. Hurry up."

I locked my car before his hand dragged me further into the restaurant, which luckily wasn't that crowded. We then stood waiting for our queue until it was our turn to order. I mentioned the menu according to her request earlier with the addition of a double cheeseburger and two large glasses of cola without ice for myself, before paying the total I had to pay. Then we sat by the window while waiting for our order to arrive at our table.

"You have a sharp memory, don't you?"

"What do you mean?"

"You still remember what I wanted to order when I was in the car."

"Of course, I still remember it as clear as crystal."

"You are indeed the best. Why didn't I just ask you to have dinner together?"

"Yeah. Why didn't you just start earlier? Luckily, you recently invited him."

"So when will you give me your answer? I've been thinking about you for three days until I can barely sleep."

"So you're lying about you watching Netflix for two days in a row and haven't eaten since yesterday?"

"No. What I told you earlier was true. I keep thinking about it, that's why I tried to distract myself while watching Netflix. But what I have is I keep thinking about you."

I looked straight at Hannah, while my hand pulled her right hand and kissed the back of her hand slowly. "My answer to your question is yes. I am willing to be your boyfriend, Hannah Summerfield."

A waiter who had arrived in front of our table gave our order on the table. Then the waitress congratulated us both on officially becoming a couple, before leaving us both, sobbing for the reason that she also wanted a boyfriend after being single for a year or two.

"This is the first time I've come to a restaurant as strange as this."

"Leave that weird waiter alone. Shall I eat now?"

"Yes, of course, you can eat them. After this, I'll take you somewhere more private."
