Along the way, I was busy cursing myself and all my foolishness for having missed my best chance to ask the meaning of his conversation with the woman named Vera that had been haunting my mind until now.

I have to admit that my decision to let Hannah take the public bus instead of asking her to go to the office in my car like I've been doing since I've been living at her house was the rashest thing I've done since I've been dating Hannah.
