Second Term: The oldest Game

Zach's POV:

Detention day. Was it a bad sign that I was looking forward to it? Probably was. Did I care? Not one single bit. I only had two more detentions left. Not only did I need to use that time to ask for the car I needed for the project, but I also needed to make every single moment count in getting Melanie to be more interested in me. My fate depended on it.

Too dramatic? Well, maybe, but there was a small seed of truth in that. I couldn't explain it, but I wanted her to like me. So it was a crack in my ego that she resisted so much. But she wouldn't do so forever.

"You seem oddly happy." Amber ripped me out of my headspace.

I simply shrugged, "Why shouldn't I? I'm a happy person."

"Maybe because this is the second week you are in detention for no real reason?" she continued and crossed her arms.

"Oh. It's just detention. At least I get to draw most of the time since Melanie isn't that strict." I waved her off.
