Chapter 27

"From now on, you are a member of the Silversehl cadre."

"What did you say? Who do you think you are talking to? I am the Empire's top—."

"Young Lady, it better if you just accept it. It won't harm you, and you'll even gain merit."

I was summoned by those mysterious people who were dressed in the same uniform as this guy. Believe it or not, this individual right in front of me wanted to recruit me for their cadre without even my approval or cooperation. Forget about the arrest plan they'd devised from the outset. I couldn't tell if they were serious or joking right now, ugh, all I could think was why on earth do they want me to be a part of the cadre they supervise?

Being asked by the man who appeared to be the leader. His hair was long and blonde, and his eyes were wide and vivid ocean-like colour. His look was average, but there was an aura about him that tells me he is a great person. There are no other people in the room except me and this guy. I was expecting Oz because he is also a member of this cadre, but he is nowhere to be seen.

I feel like I'm in a hot seat, and I can't really respond to this guy's demands. I'm not interested in any cadre, and can't assure you that I'm allowed to join one. Oh wait, why am I so worried about breaking the Empire's rule for me? If I want to anger those bastards then this will be perfect. Making friends, and forming good instance with other people is something they despise.

My face couldn't hide the wicked smile as I thought about how the president of the chasseur would react about this.

"M-miss Altair…?" the man who was talking to me confusedly called, "I don't really think there's something in my words that is laughable."

"I will join your cadre." with a straight smack of thoughts, I answered him the thing that he wanted to hear. "R-really?"

"Yeah, sure. But can I ask you a favor?" Although I didn't sound eager when I replied to him, he didn't seem to mind at all.

"W-what is it?"

"Can you help me regain my former household?"

"Household… are you talking about the Altair's household?"

"What else could it be? That house is my property."

"But I've heard that the Empire owns it now. It became a private property and no one is allowed to talk about the tragedy of sabrie."

"I'll do everything in this cadre, just promise me you'll help me take back that house for me."

This was not a perfect situation. It is true that the Empire now possesses the property and has even ceased spreading tales about the tragedy, so just a few people are aware of it in total. Despite the fact that it was no longer my concern, they don't need to know what happened to my family after all.

"Sigh." I heard the sigh of being forced into a very hectic conclusion from the guy, but when he glanced at me directly in my eyes, I saw the answer. "Alright. In exchange, you will work with us like any regular member of this cadre. I will ask for the contract later, and you will have to fill it up. Is that clear?"

"You also better include the agreement we'd agreed on."

"I see you have a hard time trusting people, Miss Altair. Don't worry, I'm not going back on my word. So, rest assured." If he says so, his smile bites me a little. Then it won't be an issue. "Please wait a moment while we prepare the contract," he said, and everything was done.

I was led outside the room by a man whose name I did not ask about. Now that I'm outside, the broad field of this household greets me. Some folks were working around, minding their own business. As for me, I sat on the veranda's staircase because I didn't know a single soul here.

Concerning the Cadres, I'm not sure I understand what they do. Oz described them as Knights and Soldiers, but if that is their job, they are some sort of public servant that maintains the city safe.

"Uwa? You're here!" It wasn't that long before I was discovered by a very familiar face, he was on my mind earlier and now bursting a smile right through me is what he has been doing. "Miss Hmph!" I could see he was very energetic—, wait…did he just call me that nickname again.

'Miss Hmph, try remembering my name.'

That's impossible. The timeline between that domain and reality is too far from each other. The one I saw in that place is a kind with a very…similar structure appearance. How is that even possible?

"You, didn't we meet each other on Sekki's do…"

"Huh? What are you talking about? " He cut my words off right away, "Ahaha. Don't tell me you're missing me so much that you see me in your dreams. "

"Huh? Not in a million dreams!" Even if I find out the answer, it is total nonsense. That aspect of Sekki's memories, despite the fact that I don't know anything about him, this guy here is somehow tied to his past.

"So, what exactly are you doing here?"

The guy sat next to me, and we were both staring at the uninteresting scenery of the other members of this cadre.

"You don't know, do you? Your leader kidnapped me and is now attempting to make a deal with me."

"Ehh? Is that true? "

Looking his way, I tried to figure out what he was thinking. This person doesn't seem to be thinking about anything in particular, but to be blunt, he appears to be amusing. Like, he's the type of guy you could put your trust in this situation. Since I'll soon be a member of this cadre, I should try to be polite and get as close to this guy as possible. We don't know what will happen in the future; if the president finds out, I'm sure they'll try to control me again, and this guy will undoubtedly play a significant role.

"I've joined this Cadre."

"W-what?! Is that for real?!"

"Yeah… is that really something you should be happy about?"

"Of course, a top-notch soldier joining our cadre? Who wouldn't be excited about that?"

My eyes tried to avoid his stare, "S-sure." but little did they know that I don't possess any artes now. So, as of now, I am going to rely on the rusted sword I've got from Sekki's father.

"Vice-chieftain! We have trouble!"

"Huh? What is it?"

"An intruder is taking down our men! He is trying to trespass the household!"

"...What?"

Upon receiving information about someone attempting to trespass on the Cadre's property. Oz and I walked outside the gate to find out who was causing the havoc that even the Cadre's members of Silversehl's household couldn't find. People are screaming in agony, and some are flying around like a piece of paper for the rascal.

My eyes widened, and I couldn't really take any hint of the person who exactly looks like Sekki. Although this guy here was bathing in his own sweat, he seemed to be perched with exhaustion.

Sekki was holding one of the Cadre's men, pumped by him mercilessly.

"...S..Sekki—"

I was shocked as he let go of the guy in his grasp and softly embraced me that even though I hadn't expected it.

"It must be horrible, huh?"

"Let's go home," Sekki says, his voice shaking and heaving from exhaustion. Sekki was warm, but that wasn't natural; he seemed to have a fever.

"Are you insane, Sekki? You've been seriously injured! What on earth are you thinking of coming here?!"

"..." Sekki didn't respond at first as his breathing was becoming erratic. "Let's... go..."

"Wait a minute," Oz said as he stepped directly next to us, pulling me away from the person who was demanding that we go. "You cannot take a member of our Cadre. I'm not going to let that happen."

Oz was staring at Sekki with keen eyes.

This does not sit well with me.

"If you really want her back, you must first defeat me… Sekkia."

He knows him?!
