Chapter 2: joining a sect

Years passed and now Jahdiel was eight years old. He was at the Dantian Awakening Realm already. He took only a year to break through the first realm. The second was going harder, but he felt that he was getting closer to a breakthrough.

The village head had congratulated him for becoming a cultivator. In an interior village like theirs, where qi was very thin, this was a miracle. The village head was a man in his sixties, an age that he only reached because he was a cultivator.

He started to impart some basic knowledge to Jahdiel, including a copper cultivation technique(useless to Jahdiel) and a copper qi fighting technique(useful). He also thought Jahdiel how to write and count. Jahdiel was glad that the number system was basically the same as his previous life, but with very different symbols. But the language was very hard, making Jahdiel wonder how young masters learn it.

He was already old when he could sense qi, so he could not join a sect, so he worked as a guard for the local nobility. When he rejected to accept a bribe from a random young master, his unawakened dantian was crippled, but the young master did not even bother to have his hundred meridians crippled one by one.

So the old man did not lose his cultivation but was stuck in the Meridian Awakening Realm forever. He was then expelled from the guards and ended up living the last of his years in this village.

After hearing his life story, the revenge and compensation button in Jahdiel's system became blue again. To not have the risk of revealing the system, Jahdiel waited a week to, at a random night, click on the button.

The next day the village head, magically broke through. Jahdiel was happy with the village head becoming stronger because now the village would be safer.

Meanwhile, a young master that had already been promoted to elder young master(with cultivation in the Dantian Compression Realm) suddenly fell feeling a sharp pain, his daitian was suddenly ripped out of his body.

The qi from it was not removed, so all of it violently burst into the meridians. The meridians were too thin to take so much compressed qi all at once so they were torn apart. This empty space, where once a dantian stood, was now like a pressure cooker without any pressure-releasing point.

Boom! It exploded. The space increased as the explosion has torn this man's abdomen from the inside. And so the not really young master died, his competitors controlled themselves to not dance in his tomb. No one mourned his death.

The village head knew that he was at his limit, however, so he still keep focusing on teaching Jahdiel about cultivation.

The village head recommended Jahdiel, to not break through in the village, saying that with his talent he could easily join a sect. There he would have an environment richer in qi and better to a breakthrough with a better foundation.

After hearing news that the Muo Be Sect was recruiting disciples he quickly went there. To enter the test one had to pass through three stages. First, a cultivation and age evaluation. Next, a physical test is to evaluate the candidate's raw strength and look for a special physic. Finally, a mock battle between candidates.

Together with Jahdiel were another hundred candidates. The first test was very easy, Jahdiel only had to put his hand on a strange 'totem machine', and channeled his qi to it, and his age and cultivation appeared. Jahdiel was part of the twenty that passed this text. Jahdiel was the youngest candidate in the Dantian Awakening Realm.

The next test had two parts. In the first part, one must punch a 'bunch-bag-like machine' that would evaluate the strength of the punch.

In the second part, one would put their hand in a giant rock, that would change colors according to one affinity. The giant rock seems like a giant white quartz. Looking into one affinity was the only way of evaluating one special physic, that a small sect was able to afford. When qi was channeled into the stone, it would shine with a color, that depended on the affinity found. With no affinity, it shined white. To evaluate the strength of a special physical, they would analyze how much light the stone shone.

Jahdiel only got an average result in the first part, but in the second it was found that he had an unknown special physical, as he made the stone transparent with his qi. So he passed, with another fifteen people.

None of them knew, that the evaluator was angry because he had to waste his time working on the selection of disciples, so he rounded the numbers, to make the ranking in the competition easier.

In the last test, they would simply fight against each other. They would fight with a training weapon from the sect. In his first round Jahdiel, took a dagger to fight. He saw that his weapon was old and rusty, while his enemy's weapon seems much better. The training weapons were real weapons, but unsharpened ones.

His enemy was a relative of the judge, so he could easily bribe him, Jahdiel did not know this, but he could clearly see something was wrong before the match, and this was someone favoring his enemy. He saw that the revenge button was clickable again, so he used his mind to click on it. To Jahdiel, it seems that nothing had changed, but the situation had completely reversed.

His dagger now had a thin layer of old and rust, but it was solid iron inside. His enemy, meanwhile, had a sword that seems good from the outside, but that was completely rusted on the inside. The extra metal from the sword allowed for the inside of the dagger to be filled with a much purer denser amount of iron.

So soon after Jahdiel defended against his enemy, the sword broke into two, and if Jahdiel had not reduced his speed he may have cut his enemy's throat. His enemy however got a thin cut in his neck, that spilled a bit of blood, nothing serious, but enough to make a young master pass out... Jahdiel found that there were a cooper and a bronze rank sword in his inventory. He decided to keep it a secret for now.

Jahdiel's next battles were uneventful. He did not struggle a bit in the next rounds, as his enemies were only in the Meridian Awakening Realm; until the finals, where he fought against a twelve years old dantian awakener cultivator.

This enemy had a much stronger young master vibe than the previous one. He was fighting with two cooper qi fighting techniques. Using a cooper technique to fight with a dagger in his right hand, and other to attack with his fist in his left hand. His enemy was attacking him with an iron rank qi fighting technique.

Jahdiel could not evaluate this precisely, but he was able to see from the beginning of the fight that his enemy's technique was much better than his. In only one exchange, his enemy sword had pushed Jahdiel's dagger back. Now the dagger was the only thing that barely separate his enemy sword from his heart. Thankfully, with the technique still on, his enemy came closer to him, until he was less than a foot away from Jahdiel.

"You, mere commoner, dare to have hope in winning. I will crush it... " The enemy started shouting at Jahdiel', that saw that his enemy was distracted, and quickly punched him in the Solar Plexus.

That was how Jahdiel joined the Muo Be Sect.
