Heavenly Tribulation

"Now then, I have to upgrade my status!"

With that, he quickly get to upgrading his base statuses. He upgraded his Physical Ranks first, which costs 250 > 500 > 750 > 1,000 respectively. That is Lower Stage, Middle Stage, Higher Stage, and Peak Stage. His Physical Rank turned into the Lower Stage Bone & Marrow Improvement.

Next is his Cultivation Rank. This costs him 100, and the costs increases by 100 everytime he upgrades his Cultivation Rank. He didn't think much about it because the only thing he can feel is that he is getting stronger. He was just going to pick the upgrade when he got to the 9th Stage Earth Realm when a prompt suddenly appeared in his eyes.

[A Heavenly Tribulation will occur if you continue. Will you proceed?] (Y/N)

His eyes widened at that.

"Heavenly Tribulation!?"

He was shocked, and rather terrified. He just became a cultivator today, and then he was suddenly smack with this kind of revelation. He knows of Heavenly Tribulations, though he haven't seen it personally.

Normally it is lightning, but sometimes people says there are other types of Heavenly Tribulations. Like the earth splitting, or a rain of fire will come down to scorch whoever offended the Heavens.

He didn't know how strong he is, so he wouldn't dare try it at all.

".... Wait, if I don't become daring, how will I get stronger?" He immediately stops himself from chickening out.

It is surprising that he will be meeting his own tribulation so soon, but he have decided to become stronger. If he got scared because of this, then he knows he should just forget strengthening himself anymore.

"Right! Can I still call myself a man if I'm scared of thunders!" He tried to cheer himself up like that.

Heavenly Tribulation is normally a thunder crashing down to a person. He knows how thunders are very dangerous, and it won't just affect him but his surroundings. He have to find a place where he can peacefully do his tribulation.

Sneaking out of the city is a bit hard. Though with his newfound abilities, it seems like he can control his own muscles to lighten his steps and jump higher through his Qi.

Controlling Qi is a very new thing for him. In fact, he doesn't know how to control it and is just doing it instinctively. He hopes to train that and acquire an ability that will give him the knowledge how to control his own Qi. It will be very lame for him as a cultivator if he can't even control Qi.

This is the first time he left the Cloud Wind City. He heard that the forest he is seeing now which is besides the city walls of this city is called the Green Abyss Forest. He heard there are Demon Beasts roaming around these forests, and those beasts can only be defeated by Cultivators.

He have no plans to go deeper. He only needs to take care of his Heavenly Tribulation, then he will immediately leave.

He notice how fast he is as he was running within the forest. He don't know how far he got, but he estimated that he might have covered a hundred miles within these few minutes he is running inside the forest. He thinks this distance is enough.

He walks into the clearing on the forest where the moonlight is pointed and takes a sit in there. Then he gazes at the prompt in front of his eyes when he tries upgrading his Cultivation Rank again.

[A Heavenly Tribulation will occur if you continue. Will you proceed?] (Y/N)

"Yes!"

He mentally braces himself after saying that. His eyebrows knitting closely as his body tenses up.

After mentally clicking the "Y" option, his surroundings quickly become dark. His eyes looks above only to gawk in surprise as he saw the clouds blocking the skies and forming a dark cloud above his head.

'This.... am I even prepared...!?' He takes a mouthful of air as he felt doubtful about his own choices.

Though he have no time to even contemplate about it as the claps of thunder was heard on the skies, and a lightning struck his sitting figure.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--!?"

His screams are let out both of pain and shock at the suddenness. He gritted his teeth as he felt the flash of electricity coursing through his veins and burning his nerves.

His skin is acquiring burn marks, and he felt like his internal organs are burning.

'Endure!' He thought to himself as he clenches his fist.

Instinctively, he felt like he can somewhat survive this. His body moves on it's own, being guided by his own knowledge of Martial Arts. He manages to minimize the damage by controlling his own breathing.

He felt like he acquires a new insight by just this movement alone. The inactive power sleeping within his body finally manages to move, and protects his body from further harm from the skies.

The Heavenly Tribulation only lasts two seconds, but it felt like an hour for him as he was stuck there. The whole clearing bearing a burning wake with only him being the one left standing.

His clothes are gone, and his body is blackened by soot and burns. Though he is still conscious through his own determination.

He slowly opens his eyes, wincing at the feeling of burnt marks on his body. Though he is surprised that it wasn't the worse. He only felt a scalding pain all around his body, and it feels like some of his nerves are burnt, but his internal body seems to have been protected.

For now, his eyes are focused on the skills that he acquired. Knowledge how to control his Qi, the confidence that he can actually resists lightning, and the knowledge of how to control his Qi to protect his body.

"... Amazing. I got this much benefit by just facing a tribulation!" He exclaims in surprise, before wincing softly at the burns he felt in his naked body.

He decided to quickly leave for now. That thunder is rather loud and he don't want someone to find him if they become curious about it. He is sure that Cultivators will know that the lightning that struck here is a Heavenly Tribulation.

Before that though, he needs to strengthen his Spiritual Rank.

He quickly upgraded it to Full Stage Bronze Rank, and when he tries to upgrade it to the next rank though, he froze...
