Allies.

Nathan and his pack are systematically wiping out all of our allies. My mother has spent the past two decades building her kingdom, and in that time, she has made many friends and alliances. Now, all of that is coming to an end.

I stare at Devon with anger and sadness in my heart. He looks back at me with a sorrowful expression. What is happening isn’t his fault, but I can’t help but put the blame on someone.

I grimace at him, narrowing my eyes in a fiery glare.

My mother, standing next to him, drops her eyes, her emotions clearly written on her face.

“I can’t believe Nicolas would do all of this just to get back at me. That was twenty years ago. I gave him his life, and this is how he repays me?”

My father tries to console her with an embrace. “It’s not your fault, Anyra. You mustn’t blame yourself. You can’t burden your father’s guilt.”

“What are we to do?” one of the elders speaks up.
