Chapter 11: The Shift

“First, though,” he says, “I have to take my clothes off.”

“Are you freaking serious?”

“Yes.”

“Alright, then. I change my mind. I’m out of here. I’ll find somewhere else to sleep.”

“In the bathroom,” he adds, as though he shouldn’t have to clarify it. “I will go in the bathroom on my own and do it. You won’t have to endure the sight of my naked body.”

“Okay, fine.”

“Unless you want to.”

“Creep on me again and I will actually leave.”

“It was a joke. I’m sorry.”

“How about you leave the jokes to me? You’re not any good at them.”

“That’s probably fair.”

“Okay, then. Go.”

He goes into the bathroom. “Open the door when you hear barking.”

“What did I just say about not making jokes?”

“I’m serious.”

“Fine. Whatever.”
