I love you

My physical condition has begun to improve and I was moved to a rehabilitation facility.

I wanted to move to one close to my childhood home, but Eri kept on suggesting to move to one that's close to where she lives, so here I am.

I was stuck in a wheelchair for a while, but I could use crutches now. I'm also able to walk freely, but my limping is a struggle to deal with so I decided to stick with the crutches.

I could also speak more often without feeling discomfort.

I'll be able to leave this facility in just a couple of months.

I still get regular visits from my coworkers and parents, but Miyuki, Yoshito, and Eri visit me all of the time.

Now I live a story of giving it my all to heal.

"Hey! You're walking a lot quicker now, Yasuhito." Miyuki started to follow me behind.

It still feels a bit awkward when she's speaking to me. Maybe I'm just not used to interactions, considering I've been unconscious for a while.

I returned to my room to rest for a while.

I've been asked what my career will be now since I no longer work, and I've been given the idea of a software developer by my parents.

"Hey, Yasuhito…" Miyuki suddenly entered the room.

"Yes?" I sat up.

"When you went back in time, you mentioned that Yoshito and I ended up getting married."

"Oh…yeah, you looked really happy." I smiled.

"Huh? That can't be true." Miyuki handed me a water bottle.

"What happened to you? After all of that?"

"Hm? Well, I woke up in the hospital."

"You didn't get together with Eri?" She looked in a different direction.

"No, we didn't, we decided to end our fake relationship."

I never mentioned my confession to Eri in the end.

I now realize I've been having that exact dream.

Eri was with me the entire time I was in a coma.

Eri's voice must have made it to my head and let me have that dream.

Thanks to that dream, I've been able to realize more about Eri. Her being scared of heights, her glancing at me from time to time, she's even more talkative than she's ever been.

She even gave me a bracelet with a four leaf clover on it, of course I acted like it was my first time seeing it.

Maybe Eri was speaking to me the whole time, and that's how the dream was able to occur, does that mean her feelings toward me are real?

If that's the case, then for how long has she had those feelings?

She has been keeping a distance from me recently, it's odd.

The more I began to improve, the less she began to speak to me.

Maybe it's out of consideration for Miyuki.

Maybe she thinks that I should start over with Miyuki.

"Miyuki, can I tell you something?"

"Of course, what's up?" She stared at me as she sat up.

When we were married, we always failed to communicate our true feelings to each other, we grew apart because of that.

If only I would have communicated with her a lot better that day, maybe things would have been different.

But it's too late now, a "what if" does not matter.

We can only focus on the present, we could properly face each other now.

I have to bring an end to this, properly.

"I'm sorry..but..I'm in love with Eri." I gazed at the floor, clenching the sheets on the bed.

Miyuki looked down for a bit, and nodded, looking back up at me.

"Thank you for telling me, Yasuhito." She smiled at me, as her lips quiver.

"Thank you for everything..I'm sorry." I reach out my hand.

"Don't be sorry, I understand, I really enjoyed my time with you." She took a hold of my hand and we shook hands.

We finally were able to communicate fairly.

We ended our relationship in a fair manner this time.

We hear rapid footsteps outside of the room as we finish our conversation.

"I think that was Eri." Miyuki looked towards and went after her.

I followed along, not being able to catch up.

As I reached the exit, I noticed Eri, captured by Yoshito.

Miyuki was out of breath so she couldn't help Yoshito much.

"Eri!" I yelled out.

"…" She turned to me and attempted to release herself from Yoshito.

"Let me go!" Eri continued to struggle.

"Gotta promise to not try to run first." Yoshito chuckled.

"I just need to grab something from my car, I don't know what you're talking about!"

"What do you need to get?" Miyuki gave Eri a cheeky smile.

"…" Eri couldn't think of a reply

"Eri, I need to tell you something." I began to approach.

Yoshito lets her go and backs away.

"Miyuki, Yoshito, I want you guys to listen as well." I looked at both of them.

They both stayed still and nodded at me.

"Eri-"

"Stop!" She yelled out.

All eyes fixated on Eri now.

"Look I know you're both divorced now, but all of the misunderstandings are cleared, you guys can start over and go back to how things were before." Eri stood still, looking all flustered.

"That's not possible, Eri." I slowly began to approach her more.

"I love you, Eri."

"I don't know where you got this from, but I'm guessing it's from your dream. The dream is over, this is reality now." Eri spoke with a shaky voice.

"I can't just continue being with Miyuki, not while I have these feelings for you, that would just be unfair to her. I love you, Eri, I want us to be together."

"No..I'm sorry..I can't." Miyuki turned away and started to walk away.

Miyuki walked towards Eri and grabbed her arm, stopping her.

"Eri! Is this really okay with you?" Miyuki frowned.

"Huh? But…I just don't think-"

"Hey…you can be honest, you know that, right?" Miyuki stared gently at Eri.

No matter what, they'll always trust each other, it has always been that way between them.

"Miyuki..I'm sorry..I love Yasuhito as well." Eri looked at the ground with guilt.

"I don't think you should be telling me that, Eri." Miyuki brightly smiled and led Eri towards me.

"Yasuhito…if you're fine with dating someone like me…then I'll gladly be your girlfriend."

"Eri…"

Eri and I embrace each other.

"Time for celebration!" Yoshito yelled out as he approached us and gave us a hug with Miyuki following along.

"It'd make me happy if you and Miyuki become a couple as well, Yoshito." I returned.

"What?!" They both exclaimed.

"The both of you are perfect for each other." I grinned.

"Well, I think that seems great." Eri grinned as well.

"You too, Eri?!" Yoshito looked at Eri with shock.

"Yoshito and I don't feel that way towards each other, that idea is off limits." Miyuki objected.

We may be separated now, but I want Miyuki to be happy.

I now know for a fact that Yoshito can grant her happiness.

"Fine, fine, the objections are understandable." I raise my hands in defeat.

We all spend the rest of the day catching up and speaking about what's in store for our futures, but I believe there will be nothing but good things.
