Jealousy, a serpent that slithers within,
A poison that spreads and begins to win,
A fire that burns and consumes the heart,
A pain that tears one apart, from the start.
It's in the eyes that see what is not theirs,
And the hearts that ache with envy and cares,
It's in the whispers that spread like a flame,
And the judgments that cause nothing but shame.
Jealousy breeds resentment and strife,
And tears apart relationships for life,
It's a storm that rages and won't subside,
And a wound that can never be sanitized.
It's a thief that steals our joy and peace,
And a shadow that casts over our release,
It's a darkness that blocks out the light,
And a burden that causes nothing but fright.
But why must we allow jealousy to reign,
When we could choose to let love and peace remain,
Why not choose to focus on what we have,
And let go of the things that make us mad.
For when we choose to see the good in others,
And when we choose to love one another,
Jealousy loses its power over us,
And happiness and peace will justly trust.
So let us cast aside this emotion's hold,
And choose to embrace love, both young and old,
For it is only then that we'll truly see,
That jealousy has no power over thee.
