Chapter 11: Experiment (part 1)

When Mr Charles saw how awkward the situation had become, he smiled and said in a cheerful tone

"Now that we've known ourselves, let's move on to the next phase of today shall we".

Then he looked towards me and said "Jason, you remember I said I hired you here for a different purposes right".

I nodded thinking it was finally time they told me what they want from me.

"Well you'll find out in a moment, just wait a little longer".

"And he leaves me hanging again" I thought almost expecting it.

"Well then ladies and gentlemen now that you've completed your purposes here, return back to your headquarters for further instructions".

When he finished speaking, the gang of six stood up and walked out of the room completely ignoring me.

After they had left, Mr Charles asked me to follow him as he walked towards the doors.He lead me towards the elevator and pressed the button for the first floor. We went down until we reached the first floor, but after arriving at the first floor instead of coming out like I expected, another set of what seemed like random numbers to me were pushed again by Mr Charles.

When I was just about to ask what that was for, the elevator started moving again, still heading downwards which surprised me.

"I seems like they have underground basses" I thought.

The elevator kept on going down for a while before stopping. When the doors opened, we stepped out and what came into view was what looked like a laboratory.

You could see people wearing white coats walking up and down carrying different sorts of experiments.

When we walked into the lab all the people in it stopped what they were doing and just started at us. Well to be precise, they were staring at me and they looked as though they have been waiting for me. And they looked pretty excited to see me, some of them were even staring at me as though they had just found their lost dogs which creeped me out.

Then one of them stepped forward and walked towards us. It was a woman who was probably in her early twenties, she had short black hair that ended at her shoulders, brown eyes and she wore glasses which obviously made her look like the smart type.

When she reached in front of us, Mr Charles stepped forward and greeted her with a smile

"Mrs Charlotte it's a pleasure to meet you, I was very pleased when I found out you agreed to conduct the experiment for us personally"

"No need for formalities Mr Charles, when I saw the kind of the experiment you wanted me to conduct of course I became intrigued. It's not everyday that we stumble across awakens, so I had to make use of this opportunity to study one up close"

"Your right, the population of the awakens are redusing drastically since the after wars and it doesn't seem like it's going to slow down any time soon".

I just stood by the side not understanding even a word of what this two were blabbing about.

"Well then let's leave the talk for later and start the trails shall we." she said looking towards my direction with an evil smirk on her face, and even though it made her look prettier, it sent shivers down my spines.

"Of course. This is Jason our subject, I'll leave him in your hands then" Mr Charles said pointing at me.

Then he turned towards me and said "Jason please just cooperate with them, I promise to explain everything to you after you pass through the last phase of the experiment".

"Can someone please tell me what's going on, I've been getting experiment this and experiment that since I got into this room and now out of nowhere you guys are telling me that I'm the scapegoat for your stupid experiments, who does that" I thought frustrated by the lack of information.

But I just nodded wanting to complete this as soon as possible and finally get some answers.

"Great, I'll be off then".

After saying that he bid farewell to the woman and headed out of the lab.

When he left, I stood there uncomfortably because right now everyone in the room was still shameless staring at me, and the worse of all was that this woman standing in front of me, she was looking as though she was trying to look through me and scan my brains. And if you must know it isn't comfortable at all!

Then all of a sudden she smiled and said.

"Please forgive me for my rude behavior, it's just that I don't get to see an awakened everyday, so I got really excited when I heard about you".

"What in the world is this woman talking about? and who or what is this awaken I keep hearing? Is any going to explain to me what's going on? " thoughts after thoughts kept going through my mind.

"Okay then shall we begin the experiment?" she asked, but gave me no time to answer as she pulled me towards a table at the center of the room and told me to lie on it.

I did as she told and lay on it after which I was strapped to it with belts which got me wondering which kind of experiment they want to carry out on me because right now they were putting a breathing mask on my face.

After they made sure I couldn't move at all, Charlotte moved towards me with the biggest syringe I've ever seen in my life which had a purple syrup inside it.

I gulped when I saw the size of the niddle. "Is that thing even going to enter me" I thought depressed.

When she got to my side she said with a smile "Let me not lie to you, It's going to hurt a lot but it's going to be worth it".

After saying that, she didn't even give me a chance to register what she just said when she just shoved the entire niddle into my neck.

I closed my eyes expecting pain, but to my surprise I felt nothing which made me open my eyes confused. But when I opened my eyes all I saw was Charlotte smiling at me, and just when I was going to ask why I didn't feel anything, that's when it happened.

A feeling I bet I'm never going to forget in this life.

PAIN!!

Real pain Is all I felt right now, it felt so extreme that I couldn't even scream because of the numbness of my body. I wished I could die at that moment but it didn't seem like my wish was going to be granted anytime soon.

When the pain became overwhelming, I felt my body giving in to the pain and I started loosing my consciousness. I tried to fight it but the pain was just too much for me to handle so I gave in to it and before I realized it everything went black.

"The subject has entered the first stage of awaking and so far he seems stable" Charlotte said into what seemed like a recorder.
