The cool early morning air greeted them like a slap.
They were on foot now.
Yunfeng bent over, panting heavily, his hands on his knees. The city stretched out before them—ruined, lifeless, eerie in the growing dawn. Cars were abandoned in the middle of the road, windows shattered, belongings scattered like people had fled in a hurry.
Some buildings were on fire, thick black smoke curling into the sky.
Jai pressed a hand to his chest. "Shit… I think I'm gonna puke."
Yunfeng ignored him, ripping open the duffel bag. It contained a few water bottles, canned food, a hunting knife, and some bandages.
Their entire survival depended on this one bag.
And one gun.
Yunfeng cursed under his breath. It wasn't enough.
His heart pounded. They were losing precious time.
He quickly grabbed his phone from his pocket and checked the map—
The screen flickered.
And then—black.
