A few hours later, robbed of a decent nap, Xavier crankily returned to the Easton household. The morning sun had risen and birds flapped their wings, flew gallantly, and twittered harmoniously in the sky.
"Mr. Easton, are you sure about your decision?" Igor deliberately stopped speaking, as he gazed at the front mirror to garner his boss' reaction but to his disappointment, he only depleted a perfunctory expression.
What a truculent man! Gosh.
"Isn't Miss May too young to handle the company...I mean the press and employees, she wouldn't...."
"Focus on the road and mind your business!!" The man in the back seat turned exasperated by his assistant's intrepid questions.
"But I am....."
"Igor! I won't repeat...hit the gas and head to father's place"
"Oh! Yes," Igor didn't speak anymore and drove downtown, back to the City.
...
"First Master, they are all inside the foyer" Nanny Gwen informed him. Looking back at the hot situation on that table, she took a side glance at the young man's mysterious face and felt another headache ruminating. She had been the family's Nanny for twelve years now, and knew their shortcomings and heavy problems but never had a chance to comment on them. After the issue with the youngest daughter, everything turned eerie.
Xavier asked, "Is anything the matter?"
Nanny Gwen differed from her thoughts and stared at him, saying "Nothing"
"I'll be going then," He told her and left.
On his way to the foyer, he had to go through the dark passageway, which faintly was a shortcut leading to the dining table, and a shortcut only he and May knew. The sturdy thud of his footsteps echoed at each corner and crook of the passage, and his look sharpened.
Taking no less than a minute, he reached the entrance of the door that was behind the foyer. He was yet to take a step when he heard her pleasant voice.
"I was thinking about Xavier and his endearing words whenever we were together"
All his rationality deciphered upon her words. What did she say?? Thinking of him?
His heart accelerated almost immediately but suddenly his lips curved to a side and twitched. He took in a deep breath with his hands fisted tightly.
"This woman!!!" He cussed. A ball of hatred swindled within his eyes because even after her prejudice, he still couldn't get her away from his head.
Besides, what's with that canard!! Playing hard to get after everything that happened last night. He gnashed his teeth.
Before he decided to take a step towards the dining and make his presence known, she spoke up again.
"I understand father and don't need fake concerns...because I wasn't raped"
Xavier's blood froze. He hadn't absorbed those detrimental words yet, but that evil uncaring woman threw another heated blow.
"I had a nightstand...not a big deal" She added insult to injury.
"A gloat tendency ensued between that stranger and me, not forcefully but self-inflicted" She clamored "And from what I experienced last night, I don't think a fellow person can be able to keep up with such vigorous strength and energy"
In a nutshell, Xavier tightened his balled hand and ran his other hand through his hair, but the look on his face was calm... so calm that if anyone were to glimpse at him, they'd think he was happy. Invariably, she tore every respect for her with prattled foolishness. He was unable to concentrate on the reason he had come to the mansion.
Garnering his remains of sanity, he refused to stay muted and gradually approached the heated table. His footsteps became lighter and lighter, the more she spoke. But he'd try to get over the shock.
"I don't want to get married to him" That was the last sentence to reach his ear until he stood mightily in the middle of the proportionate foyer.
There again, he heard "I will leave the house... I am old enough to be rebellious and granted wanted freedom" and uncommented but the unhappy color on his face mutated having to see her pretty face red and rancor as she would cry in a moment. Perhaps, when she left, she hadn't noticed his presence and suddenly collide with his chest. That must have hurt a lot and it did by the notion of her loud hiss.
Feeling her body clash firmly with his made him recollect the day he kissed her passionately. That day when he pulled her wrist and trapped her hands on the wall. In between their intimate moment, he confessed his feelings to her but she...
"Xavier?" He looked at her in an absolute daze. Synchronously, they both locked eyes. Her hazel eyes sparkled suddenly at the sight of his, which continued to baffle him.
Feeling peevish, he sneered inwardly and said surly "Watch your step, not every man is a gentleman" his voice was deep and tired. The woman smiled and nodded in return. He sighed and met eyes with his angry father.
He took a step to the table but was stopped "C...can we talk…privately?" She said to him, "I have something important to say to you, I'll wait at the porch" She took her hand from his wrist and ran off.
Xavier knitted his brows suspiciously at her weird tactics. Once again, he gazed at his father but said nothing than to proceed toward him.
"Brother" His first sister, Amy greeted him but he bypassed her indifferently and said to the Old Man.
"I have decided"
