Chapter two hundred and thirty five

"Really?" Jane adjusted herself well on the bed so she could better hear Mrs Whitney. She can see the sadness written all over, and it breaks her heart to see Mrs Whitney this way.

"Yes! We were so in love with each other. He didn't care about my status. He loved me fiercely in every way possible, and I loved him back, too." Mrs Whitney broke down in tears, and Jane stood up from the bed. She pulled Mrs Whitney into her arms and patted her back.

"What then happened? Didn't you two end up together? Was the one you later married?" Jane asked even though she very much doubts the possibility. But it could be she's mourning her late husband.

"No, we didn't end up together. And I was never married, I lied." Mrs Whitney said her heart wrenching in pain.

"Why? You both seem to have been crazy about each other." Jane said, confused.
