Chapter Five
After Marina gets to know her new room, they show her a bit of the city and take several pictures, which she sends to her friends at the orphanage, her sisters, and her best friend Dayane.
In the late afternoon, they go home and Marina takes a shower and goes downstairs for dinner, but on the way her cell phone rings and it's her friend Flavia:
"Hi Flavia, how are you? Yes, I'm fine too. The place here is really nice. I miss you too. Give my love to the girls. Now I have to hang up because I'm having dinner. Talk to you later. Kisses."
She ends the call and goes to the kitchen for dinner. Sandra is of medium height with shoulder-length curly light brown hair, thin, and Miguel is tall, about six feet tall, white with short straight black hair, while Sandra has light brown hair.
Marina is slim, sixty-five feet tall, and has straight black hair that goes down to waist height.
They quietly dine on a liver steak with fries, rice, beans and an orange juice, and dessert is lemon pie.
She helps to wash the dishes. Then she brushes her teeth and goes to her room to sleep, after all she has had quite a tiring day.
It is a rainy Sunday morning and she spends the whole day watching television, while the couple has gone to the supermarket to do some shopping.
Just then, her cell phone rings and she sees that it is her friend:
"Hi! friend"
"Hi! Dayane"-she says all excited-"How are you?"
"I'm fine friend. I called you to know if you are going to spend a few days here at home. We need to kill our homesickness."
"I don't know if it will give Day away."
"But why? You're not going to tell me you've already replaced me!-says in a sly voice."
"Of course not. It's because I'm living too far away now."
"What place are you living? I'll come there and pick you up or you can come here by bus."
"Now I live in Olaria and it's too far for me to go.
"We'll figure it out later, I've got to go, I'm going out with my parents. Kisses.
"Kisses"-Marina says and ends the call.
After the call is ended, Marina goes to her room and starts to cry, because, she wanted to live near her friend again.
After crying so much, she ends up sleeping and only wakes up when she hears a noise at the door and someone saying:
"Marina, we are here, come for a snack".
She goes downstairs and comes across a chocolate cake with strawberries and the woman says:
"I bought it especially for you. I hope you like it."
"It's my favorite. Thank you ma... I say Sandra."
She finishes her snack and goes to her room to sleep.

A few days pass and it is Christmas Eve and Sandra, Miguel and Marina go to the Mall to buy their end of year presents.
Sandra asks what she wants for a present and she says:
"You don't have to give me presents."
And the woman says:
"Gee, you can ask for whatever you want.
"The only thing we want is for you to be happy," Miguel says.
"Thank you, but seriously. I don't want any presents. I don't have anything to celebrate. I no longer have my parents present and my siblings near me"-Says Marina sadly-"The only thing I wanted was to see my sisters, my brother and my best friend."
"Sorry beautiful, but that will be difficult, because the trip is very long and we will spend these holidays at home with our relatives"-Sandra says.
And Marina says:
"Then you don't have to give me any presents, because if not this, I won't want anything else."
"I'm sorry, but I'll take a rain check"-Miguel says.
"Ok then"-Says Marina already having a plan in mind.
Even though she doesn't want anything, Sandra decides to buy the girl a notebook with webcam and Miguel buys a black bicycle with purple details, for when she wants to go out in the city alone.
They leave the mall and go home. When they arrive home after twenty minutes, Marina goes up to her room very upset, because she wants to see her friends and her brothers and sisters and she can't. Marina is very upset.
So she locks her room and takes out a small box where she has the money she always kept for emergencies and sees how much she has and is surprised to realize that she has two thousand reais, all in one hundred reais bills.
She hears someone calling her and puts the money back in place and goes downstairs.
When she arrives in the room the woman says:
"My relatives have traveled, so it's just going to be the three of us here, so come, sit down and there's no use looking that way, because we made a point of buying you something. I hope you like it."
She sits down on the moss green velvet rug in front of the Christmas Tree and Sandra says:
"That's my present for you."
Marina opens it and is all happy to see it is a Notebook with Webcam.
She places the device on the carpet and says:
"Thank you for the gift, I love it"-she hugs her saying-"I wanted to give something as a gift to you."
*"No need, because you are already our gift"-says Miguel-"And speaking of gifts, I bought something for you too, but later I'll show you, because it's already night.
"Okay. Can I go to my room and sleep? I'm really tired."
"Yes, you can go, but don't you want to eat something"-Says Miguel-"If you want to take things on a plate to your room..."
"Okay, I'll get a plate."
She goes to the kitchen and sees various kinds of things: fruits, candy, juices, cookies, and food. She decides to take some candy, in this case French toast and some grape juice that she had in a plastic bottle, a stuffed cookie and a pear and goes to her room, but first she takes the things to her room and goes back to the living room and gets her Notebook.
When she finally arrives in her room, she locks the door and puts her things on the bed and turns on her new device.
As the house has Wi-Fi, she quickly connects to the Internet and enters the Company 1001 website to search for the price of the ticket from Olaria to Sete Lagoas. The price is seventy reais and she checks the available schedules and finds out that there is a bus leaving the bus station at ten o'clock at night.
She looks at the time on her cell phone, it is already eight fifty at night and she grabs her purse and puts some clothes in it and puts two hundred reais in her purse pocket.
She hears someone say:
"Honey, tomorrow Miguel and I have to leave early for work, but there is food in the fridge. At five o'clock we'll be back."
She is pleased, but disguises it by saying:
"Okay. Good night."
"Good night" - They say together.
When it is ten past nine at night, she leaves the Internet and turns off the computer, puts on a pair of pants, jeans, a black blouse, black boot, scarf, and a beret of the same color and picks up her purse, putting things to eat later and leaves the house without anyone seeing her to go visit her friend Dayane in Sete Lagoas.
