Thirty Five: A Good Moment

Lying in her bed, Marina is bored with everything, thinking that every day there is nothing good to say that it was wonderful, that every day remains as normal as those people who work all day, come home tired and go to sleep, hoping that the days will get better, but they don't and they feel happy the way they are.

But that doesn't happen with her. She feels sad about what's going on in her life, even though she's had good moments like new friends, a new school, new loves and adoptive parents that she's learned to love over time.

Marina spent a good part of the day in her room and only came out when she heard the sound of rain on her balcony and decided to make herself a snack, since Sandra was no longer there. She was a little saddened by the woman's attitude, but she knew that she had done it because she felt abandoned by the girl and was trying to solve her problems by running away. This reminded her of herself, as she had the same habit of shutting herself away when she felt bad, instead of talking to people and trying to solve her problems.

A knock on the door woke her from her reverie.

-"Darling, are you all right?" says Miguel from the other side of the door.

-Yes, I'm fine. I'll be right down to prepare our dinner.

-Daughter, I know everything isn't all right. Are you sure you don't want to talk about something? I'm here for whatever you need.

-Thank you, Dad, but I'm fine. There's nothing wrong with me.

-Okay, Mari. I'll wait for you in the kitchen. And before I forget, there's a visitor for you in the living room. So don't be too long.

-Okay, Dad, I'll be right down.

For a moment she doesn't know what to wear, because it must be Lucas in the living room, wanting to talk to her and even if she doesn't want to talk to him, she hopes that Lucas will surprise her and say that he won't stay away from her, even if she moves away in a few months. It's a bit silly to always want to fantasize about what the other person is going to say or what they're thinking, or even to spend hours wondering whether or not you're doing the right thing by having this feeling. Her daydreaming goes so far that she herself ends up forgetting that she needed to choose something to wear, since pink bunny pajamas and teddy bear slippers are not a good outfit to be seen by others.

With some difficulty, she searches her closet for a loose dress, a ribbon to put in her hair and a pair of low sandals. She stops and thinks about whether this combination is really right and, trying not to think too much, she goes into the bathroom and takes a relaxing shower, puts on her clothes and goes downstairs to meet the person who was waiting for her.

And his heart was right when he realized that it really was Lucas, with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in one hand. He was a little embarrassed that her father was nearby, and Miguel, realizing this, laughed weakly and left the room, leaving the two of them alone in the living room. Lucas handed the flowers to the girl, who immediately broke into a big smile. Inside the bouquet was a note and she carefully opened it, revealing a short message.

"You and I, together forever. No matter where you are, I'll always be thinking of you."

For a moment she thought she was dreaming and even gave her arm a little pinch, feeling a slight pain and mentally scolding herself for doing so, but this time it was reality.

She was finally happy in the midst of all the darkness in her life. And even though he was confused about what he wanted from his life, the girl was feeling good just with his presence and his beautiful, passionate gaze. The two of them remained like that for a long time, until he took the bouquet from her hands and placed it on the coffee table, held it up to her face and gave her a passionate kiss. She didn't hesitate this time, much less try to deny her feelings and gave herself over to the passion, letting love hang in the air, feeling her body float with joy, as if she were listening to birds singing a light Hallelujah around her and at that moment she couldn't think of anything else but being in his arms.
