The night before had passed rather quickly, as Marina had been at home sleeping for most of the night. In the early hours of the morning, she had woken up to find something in the fridge, as she hadn't eaten for well over ten hours. Her sisters and Thiago seemed to want to hide something from her by not letting her into the guest room. She had thought it might be a big surprise and that they would show her at dawn, but she had no idea what was in store for her.
Waking up early in the morning, she got up and had her morning coffee: bread with jam, orange juice and some fruit. She was eating more now, as there had been a time when she had been suffering from anemia and it's always good to take care of yourself so that there are no future complications.
Aline and Thiago had left very early and still hadn't returned and Ester had been locked in her room since yesterday. When she had finished eating, she washed the dirty cutlery and went to take a shower. She put on light denim shorts and a red short-sleeved blouse. She left her hair loose and put on her headphones and left the house for the square.
She stayed there for a long time, just taking in the surroundings, but all the time she checked her cell phone for a message from Lucas, but there was none. She decided to send him a message, but she didn't, because her brother called her:
-Mari, today we're going somewhere special. If you're at home, change your clothes and put on something comfortable, because today will be full of surprises.
-Okay. I'm in the square, but I'm wearing the right clothes. I just need to put on some sneakers, since we might be walking a lot.
-All right, just don't take too long. Your sister and I are just getting home. I've already called Ester and she's ready.
She turned off her cell phone and there was still no message from her beloved. She was getting worried and decided to send him another message:
"Good morning Lucas. Is everything all right? -10:42"
"Yes, I'm fine, why? -10:42"
"Nothing. I thought you'd gotten my message from yesterday."
That was the last message she read on her cell phone before her brother arrived and she got into the car heading across town.
The drive took about thirty minutes and the place was very beautiful. It seemed to be a club, but not the party kind, but something more casual. Everyone got out of the vehicle and before she could ask any questions, she was surprised by several people skating on a rink, spinning from side to side. Her eyes lit up when she saw someone she knew among the others. For a moment, it seemed as if her heart had leapt out of her chest and into the hands of the boy she had just texted a few minutes ago: Lucas.
She couldn't believe she was actually seeing him there on the dance floor. Their gazes met and a loud beat was heard in her heart. What she wanted most at the moment was to run into his arms, but she didn't know if he was with her or if it was just a figment of her imagination.
Her brother had to give her a little push to get her courage up and out of the place, but first of all he had to get a pair of skates and then go to the rink.
She finally entered the place and looked for him, but couldn't find him. Frustrated, she was about to give up when two strong hands covered her eyes and her lover's husky voice filled her heart as he said her name very softly.
She turned around and he just looked deep into her eyes, put his hand on her chin, allowing him to look at her too, and gave her a long passionate kiss full of love and longing. His arms wrapped around her waist and a group applause was heard in the background, some whistling and others shouting with excitement.
At that moment, she needed nothing more than for him to be close to her, showing all his love in the arms of the girl who had stolen his heart since the day he met her and whom he had never stopped loving. Her heart had an owner and her sense of life was there, on that track, close to her family and the handsome boy who now held her heart in his hands.
