Prologue 1: Transmigration

Warning : There will be a Couple of Gory scenes in this chapter.

Wu Jinyang stopped worrying about the nightmare he had earlier and focused on preparing his assignments for morning classes.

After a refreshing shower, Wu Jinyang made his way to Qinghua University. He exchanged morning greetings with fellow students along the way, his tiredness fading away, as he felt a sense of familiarity and belonging.

Upon entering the classroom, a group of female students flocked towards him with flirtatious glances and coy smiles. It wasn't just his academic grades that garnered their interest, but his striking appearance as well.

"Dang, he's at it again with the girls," muttered one male student to another.

"I'm so jealous of Jinyang. It's not fair that he's not only handsome but also intelligent," lamented another.

The boys in the class sighed inwardly, resigned to their inferiority.

As Wu Jinyang approached his seat, his best friend Xiao Kaifeng greeted him, "Hey Jinyang, can I see your assignment?" Wu Jinyang turned around and saw his friend smiling at him.

"Sure, but don't copy it," Wu Jinyang replied as he handed over his work.

A few minutes later, just as the class was about to start, Xiao Kaifeng returned Jinyang's work.

"Thanks, as always. I'll treat you later." he said with a grin, before settling down in his seat.

Diiiiiiing!

The bell rang, signaling the start of the morning lecture. The professor strode into the classroom, his authoritative presence filling the room. "Good morning, class. Today, we will be tackling..." he began launching today's lesson.

Wu Jinyang sat at his desk, trying to focus on the lecture. But an uneasy feeling gnawed at him, just like the night before. "Why do I keep feeling this way?" he wondered, furrowing his brow in confusion.

After the lecture, Wu Jinyang headed to the bustling cafeteria for lunch. As he stood in line, he overheard a group of students murmuring about rumors of monsters appearing within the city. His curiosity piqued, as he approached them.

"Did you hear about the rumors?"

"Rumors about monsters appearing inside the city?"

"Yeah, I've heard about it too."

"A rumor is just a rumor. There's still uncertainty about this matter, and who would believe monsters exist?"

"Excuse me, can you tell me about the rumored monster appearing inside the city?" he inquired towards a boy with an average appearance.

The group exchanged looks before they shrugged, one of them spoke up ,"You see, we heard a rumor that a monster had appeared in the city, but we're not sure which city it is."

Wu Jinyang's eyes widened in shock. "A monster!? What does it look like? Are you sure it's a monster?" he pressed, as his face gradually turned solemn.

"Actually, we're not sure. We just heard some people talking about it," one of the boys in the group admitted.

Wu Jinyang nodded, deep in thought. Despite his initial skepticism, the idea of monsters existing within the city lingered in his mind.

After hearing a few students' opinions about the rumored monster, Wu Jinyang walked towards his class, as his mind was preoccupied with the rumors of monsters. stepping inside his class while deep in his thoughts, he felt that ominous feeling again, however this time its much stronger than previously.

"Hah, am I overthinking again? Why do I feel uneasy whenever things are related to that strange nightmare?" he wondered.

The ground beneath him suddenly shook violently, causing the chairs to sway around as the walls began to crack. Panicked students ran down the hall as chaos ensued. Eventually, the earthquake finally stopped, and for a brief moment, there was a pause in the chaos.

However that relief was short-lived as a deafening crack pierced the air, as it was followed by a massive explosion that shook the earth.

BOOOOM!...

Wu Jinyang regained his footing and rushed to the windows, as he looked up to see a gaping hole in the sky, revealing a vast expanse of black space. His heart raced, he watched in horror as hideous creatures emerged from the black space.

They were humanoid in shape, with multiple eyes, black scales, and two black tails that resembled spearheads. They looked almost identical to the creatures he had encountered in his nightmares.

"Heavens," Wu Jinyang gasped in terror.

As he made his way through the highest floor of the school, he encountered other students running away from the hideous creatures.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!"

"HELP MEEEE!!!"

"AHHHHHHHH MY ARMS, PLEASE SAVE ME! PLEASE SAVE ME!"

Screams rang out through his ears, as a heavy scent of rusty iron pertained to the hall. A sickening scent that made Wu Jinyang's stomach churn. But despite the chaos around him. All he could think about was the safety of a certain girl.

With his heart pounding, Wu Jinyang sprinted up the stairs, desperate to reach her before it was too late. The world around him had descended into madness, but he knew that he had to stay focused if he wanted to survive this nightmare.

Upon reaching the top floor, the piercing screams echoed down the hall. Despite the chaos that surrounded him, Wu Jinyang pushed forward with urgency, moving swiftly towards the girl's classroom.

As he opened the door, his worst nightmare became a harsh reality before his eyes. The monster had hung Li Meili up, impaling her body with its grotesque hand. Her blood gushed out from the wound, forming a sickening pool on the ground beneath her. Li Meili, the girl whom he had been secretly in love with, was now dying right in front of him.

Tears streamed down Wu Jinyang's face as he recollected the happy memories that he had shared with Meili. Her gentle voice, bright smile, and caring personality flooded his thoughts, breaking his heart even more.

...

"Jinyang, you should take care of your health. Staying up late every night is not good for you," Meili spoke, her cheeks turning a deep shade of red as she stumbled over her words.

...

"Jinyang, can you help me with this question? It's so difficult, and I'm lost," Meili asked with a slight blush.

...

"Jinyang, would you like to go out with me?" Meili asked with a bright smile on her face.

...

The young man was brought back to reality by the sound of Meili's final words, as he saw the same smile that Meili wore in his memory right in front of him.

"Wu... J.i...ya... I lo...ve... you..." she murmured before her eyes closed forever.

Wu Jinyang felt a sharp pain in his heart, and his surroundings slowly turned black as he stared at Meili's lifeless body. He was numb to the screams and cries of those around him. All he could do was mutter to himself.

"Why?"

"Why does this happen to me? What did I do to deserve this? Why did I not follow my unease feeling before? Why?"

"Why?.."

"WHYY?.."

"WHYYY!...ha.hah.ha..HAHAHAHHAHA.."

Like a broken record Wu Jinyang kept on muttering to himself while gradually losing himself to laugh maniacally, as tears continued to flow down in his eyes.

Meanwhile, the monster began devouring Meili's corpse, splattering blood and guts all over the floor. The already dense and heavy stench became even more unbearable, and Wu Jinyang's eyes turned lifeless. All he desired was for the monster to die.

Wu Jinyang's eyes turned bloodshot as he clenched his teeth and grabbed a shard of reinforced glass lying nearby. Blood trickled down from his right hand as he glared at the creature, his body emanating murderous intent. The monster sensed the weak killing intent coming from the young man and regarded him with a look of disdain.

As he charged towards the monster, Wu Jinyang felt his body surge with a primal rage. He lunged at the creature with the shard, aiming for its left waist. But the monster was quick to react, dodging out of the way and dashing to its right.

Wu Jinyang followed the creature's movements, his eyes widening in amazement as he noticed bluish energy gathering to his right. Without hesitation, he sprinted towards the energy and plunged the shard into it, inducing a pained scream from the monster.

RIEEEEEEAAH!

'....'

The creature cried in pain as it retaliated by swinging its tail at Wu Jinyang, who barely managed to evade the incoming attack. He darted around the creature, parrying its vicious strikes with the shard in his hand. green blood oozed out from the wound he had inflicted, but it did little to slow the monster down.

Wu Jinyang's constant evasion enraged the creature. It raised its spear-headed tails, as it gathered the bluish energy from the surrounding area, and it violently attacked the young man with its two tails. However, he met the onslaught head-on, his left hand darting out to block the monster's strikes.

Cling...

...

Cling...

...

Cling...

The clash of metal and energy echoed throughout the room, as screams could still be heard around the area.

The young man focused intently on parrying the creature's incoming attacks, his mind racing as he unconsciously activated his [ Mana Sense ]. In doing so, he noticed a thinner layer of bluish energy on the creature's tail.

"Is that part of its tail more vulnerable than the rest of its body? Could it be its weakness?" he wondered.

Without hesitation, he raised the reinforced glass shard in his hands and slashed at the area with the thinner energy layer.

RIEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHH!

A deafening shriek echoed throughout the room as green blood spattered across the floor. the young man had landed a critical blow on the creature's tail.

Using his [ Mana Sense ] unconsciously once more, Wu Jinyang rapidly approached the monster and stabbed it with the reinforced glass shard. However, he had greatly underestimated the creature's pain resistance as it used its other tail to pierce through his back.

Splat..

Wu Jinyang felt the warm sensation of blood gushing out of his wound as though he had been stabbed a thousand times.

The exhaustion and numbness also starts to take its toll, he couldn't help but wonder, '...was this the end?'

Wu Jinyang's vision blurred out, as numerous memories flash before his eyes, he then thought about the silver-haired girl he had left behind.

Wu Jinyang clenched his teeth, as he thought inwardly and showed a creepy smile, 'If I'll die then.. I'll bring you along.'

Mustering all his strength, he stabbed the area where the [ Mana Sense ] had revealed the weak point.

Green blood splattered over Wu Jinyang's face. The young man stumbled back, and slowly collapsed weakly on the bloodied floor, as blood continued to ooze out from the wound.

laying on the floor, Wu Jinyang's thoughts turned to his beloved. "Meili, I'll be coming to you soon," he muttered before his breathing gradually stopped.

Suddenly, a voice called out to him from the depths of the abyss.

"Do you believe in reincarnation?"

"....."

"Well, whatever. Do you want to see your lover?"

"...."

"Yes... I want to see her again."

"Very well, boy. Good luck."

...

The young man awoke from his stupor and found himself in a futuristic room with white and blue foil wallpaper. The room was filled with advanced technology, including holograms that flickered on the table and countless books lining a black wooden bookshelf. He also noticed a short sword resting near a cabinet.

Perplexed and disoriented, the young man tried to make sense of his surroundings. "What happened?" he muttered, his mind racing as he struggled to recall the events leading up to his current situation.

Suddenly, a realization hit him as his eyes widened in shock. "I SHOULD HAVE DIED!"
