Chapter 4: Centipede

After a few days of Mina traversing through the dense forest, her heart palpitated with fear at the thought of what lurked in the shadows. The rustling of leaves and the faint sound of twigs snapping beneath her feet were the only sounds accompanying her on her perilous journey. Suddenly, a sense of foreboding overtook her, and she looked up to see a creature of of unimaginable terror.

Before her stood a colossal centipede, its massive form looming over her like a mountain. The creature possessed twenty long and sinewy legs, each as thick as a grown man's thigh, and its body spanned over seven feet long. Its countenance was a grotesque sight to behold - its eyes shone a menacing red, and its mouth was brimming with razor-sharp fangs that could pierce through steel like butter. The creature's entire body was covered in a myriad of jagged spikes, each one resembling a needle poised to strike.

Mina stood frozen, her eyes transfixed on the monster before her. She watched as it crept closer, its many mandibles clacking together in a menacing rhythm.

"I don't know if I can defeat it," Mina's trembling voice betrayed her fear as she gazed upon the monstrous centipede before her. She knew that this was no ordinary foe - this was a creature of immense power and strength, one that could easily crush her with a flick of its many legs.

As the creature launched itself towards her, Mina's instincts kicked in, and she leapt back with lightning speed. She watched in horror as the centipede crashed into a nearby large tree, its enormous weight causing the large trunk to splinter and crack. The ground shook beneath her feet as the large tree fell with a deafening crash, sending a cloud of dust and debris billowing into the air.

"Well that's my cue to run," Mina breathed a sigh of relief as she darted away from the rampaging centipede. The massive creature pursued her with unbridled ferocity, smashing through trees and underbrush with reckless abandon. With each passing moment, Mina's heart raced faster and faster as she struggled to stay one step ahead of the beast.

But Mina refused to be its prey. She ran with all her might, her breath coming in ragged gasps as she dodged and weaved through the trees. She knew that if she faltered for even a second, the centipede would catch her - and the thought of being devoured alive filled her with a primal fear.

But just as she was about to lose all hope, Mina caught sight of a group of people up ahead. With a sense of relief, she cried out for help, her voice echoing through the forest. "Somebody, anybody, please help me!"

But as she drew closer, her relief turned to horror as she realized that her true nature was exposed. With mounting terror, Mina realized that her horns, wings, and tail were on full display. Panic seized her as she realized the implications of her appearance.

"Oh no, this is bad. Really, really bad," she muttered under her breath. "Come on, horns, wings, tail - disappear, disappear!" she thought, her voice filled with desperation.

And like magic, her appendages vanished into thin air, leaving her looking like any other human being.

Mina felt her back feel lighter and turned to see her wings weren't there anymore and cheered.

As she took a step forward, her foot caught on a hidden root and she stumbled, tumbling headfirst into a tree. Pain exploded in her skull as she hit the rough bark, and a warm trickle of blood ran down her face.

Suddenly, the centipede was upon her, its razor-sharp legs slicing through the air in a frenzied attack. But to its surprise, Mina's body seemed to be impervious to its assault. Its legs clanged uselessly against her skin, leaving her unharmed.

As she lay there, her head spinning, Mina caught sight of a figure emerging from the shadows. A young man, wielding a sword in one hand and a determined look in his eyes, had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.

For a moment, Mina felt a surge of power coursing through her veins, and her eyes darkened with an unearthly glow as she noticed the man's style of dressing. But for a few seconds her dark look was replaced with a vulnerable look.

She clutched the man's green clothes and cried, "Please help me," she could feel his gaze upon her. She met his eyes with her own, deep violet orbs that seemed to shimmer with a hint of magic. The young man's fair cheeks reddened slightly at the sight of her beauty, but he quickly composed himself.

"I will protect you," he vowed, his voice low and steady as he drew his sword from its scabbard. His eyes were fixed on the monstrous centipede that loomed over them, its many legs thrashing about in fury. "There's no need to worry I'll be done with this monster quickly."

Mina watched in awe as the young man's sword sliced through the air with precision, striking the centipede with deadly accuracy. But it wasn't just the sword that impressed her. The way he moved, the grace and power he possessed, it was like watching a dance.

Mina suddenly felt a tingly sensation around her fingers and noticed thin lines of thread were floating on them. She looked at the Centipede and the thread flew into its body paralyzing it. With a flick of her wrist, she sent more threads shooting towards the centipede, ensnaring it in a web of magic. The centipede writhed and screamed as it was trapped, unable to move.

The young man saw his chance and struck with all his might, his sword slicing through the creature's tough shell. Blood oozed from the wound, and the centipede's movements slowed. But it was still alive, still dangerous.

Mina didn't hesitate. With a fierce determination, she unleashed a flurry of thread attacks, slicing through the creature's abdomen and causing it to bleed profusely. The young man continued his onslaught, using all his skills and strength to take down the beast.

As the centipede charged towards her, Mina could feel the fear crawl up her spine. Its body was covered in hundreds of tiny teeth, making it impossible to predict where the next attack would come from. Suddenly, the creature burrowed underground, disappearing from sight. Mina looked around nervously, trying to anticipate its next move.

Just then, the young man jumped in front of her, holding his sword firmly. "I have no choice but to keep dodging and hitting the centipede whenever it shows itself. If I get bitten by that thing once, it's over," he muttered under his breath.

Mina rolled her eyes at his comment. 'I thought you were a cultivator, dipshit,' she thought to herself, her frustration showing on her face. But when the young man turned to look at her, her expression softened into a teary one.

"Don't worry I'll keep you safe," The young man stood tall, exuding a sense of confidence and power, as he made his bold declaration. His eyes, as blue as the ocean, locked onto Mina's, and his short hair, the color of a peach, danced in the wind.

Mina remained stoic, unimpressed by his words. "It's better you watch out for the monster," she retorted, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Undeterred, the man closed his eyes and focused, his heightened senses attuned to his surroundings. He heard the scraping of metal against stone, the rustling of leaves in the wind, and the pounding of his own heart.

With a sudden burst of energy, he opened his eyes and a bright, white light enveloped his sword. The man leapt towards a specific spot on the ground, and with a forceful stab, shattered the earth beneath them.

The centipede came out as it convulsed in agony, its many legs thrashing as it tried to escape the pain of the young man's fierce attacks.

As the monster lunged towards him again, the man drew a black vial from his pouch. With a swift motion, he hurled it at the centipede, causing it to explode upon impact. The black liquid seeped into the centipede's open wounds, causing it to scream in excruciating pain as it flailed its body and crashed into trees, destroying everything in its path.

The battle was intense, and Mina and the young man were both battered and bruised. But finally, with one last blow, the centipede let out a final, pitiful cry and collapsed.

Finally, the creature lay still, its body motionless and lifeless. The man grinned triumphantly, his blue eyes glinting with satisfaction. But Mina remained unimpressed, rolling her eyes at his self-congratulatory demeanor.

"It's dead don't worry we're safe now," the handsome young man gave a captivating smile and Mina rolled her eyes.

"Well thanks for the help I shall be on my way." Mina said and began walking away.

"Please wait, miss!"
