Alice loosened her tie which was becoming a bit stifling since her mother had tied it a bit too tightly for her that morning when she needed some help, and her mother was more than willing to do it for her. Her mother woke her up that morning to help get some stock number filing since she did them for her when she got back quite late last night.
The lecture was going on for longer than she had expected, and she flipped her textbook pages randomly to try and stimulate her brain since she really wasn't getting much information from the teacher just droning on and on about the same material he has been talking about for the past thirty minutes.
Resuming her previous thoughts, Noah did keep his word to walk her all the way home, but she shooed him away when they made it to the convenience store since also had to get himself back or else it would also look bad on her part. Getting home from the convenience store was a walk she could do in her sleep with her eyes closed any day.
He texted her the moment she stepped foot into her house with just a small 'it's Noah' and she saved his contact information just as an N in her phone so that she wouldn't have to stare at his name if it did come up on her screen.
She replied in a similar manner as he did, and that was all which she considered to be a good thing since she needed to get some work done before the sun came up.
She didn't want to worry about it, but at the same time, kept on looking over at her phone before she tossed her phone helplessly to her bed after the hour went by with the floating text bubble appearing and disappearing with her flicking her pencil back and forth between her fingers.
Alice didn't stop by the convenience store when she walked past it, so when her parents came back home after midnight struck, she went downstairs to greet her parents since she didn't want to sleep without seeing them since they sometimes didn't even cross paths in the morning. Her parents seemed surprised to see that she was still up.
She went to go hug her mother and take the bags out of her hands to rummage through them to see if there were any snacks. "Hi, Mom. Hi, Dad."
Jane kissed her daughter's cheek. "It's late, honey. You should head to bed or else you'll be too tired tomorrow for school."
"I know. I know. I wanted a little snack though."
"Late-night snacking isn't good for you," Jane chided before taking the bag out of her hands.
"Wait, Mom," Alice said slowly. "Just a small one please."
Her dad ruffled her hair. "Go to bed, Alice."
Alice sighed and ran her fingers through the knots that her father made. "Okay, I'm going. I'm going."
She walked up the stairs to her room and closed the door to shut out her parent's voices speaking about stock and whatnot of the store. Striding over to her desk, she flicked on her lamp that she switched off earlier and finished up the rest of the chapter that she needed to get done, and headed to bed feeling extremely drowsy and tired.
As her mother said, she did wake up tired of school it was hard for her to get up and out of her bed in the morning and do her routine of curling her hair into waves and putting on makeup while running around her room to try and find her uniform that hopefully wasn't too wrinkled to wear with it being tossed into her closet somewhere.
Covering her yawn with the back of her hand, Claudia smacked her shoulder, and Alice turned over to her right to raise a shoulder to ask 'what' since she didn't do anything to warrant Claudia swatting her. Her friend waved her hand to let her know that it wasn't a matter that was urgent, and Alice raised an eyebrow at her.
"I need your notes for chapter eighty-three," Claudia whispered.
Alice nodded while still swallowing her yawn. "Flip over the page."
Claudia took her notebook, and Alice leaned back to inspect her friend who had her golden hair pulled up into pigtails today which suited her. She glanced down at her nails which were growing out quite a bit with the pale green nail color chipping, it was definitely time for her to get it redone.
A light bulb flashed in her mind with an idea, and she grinned over at Claudia who was giving her a suspicious look. Claudia still owed her a favor since she had taken advantage of her kindness yesterday. Alice leaned over slightly to not give the teacher any idea that they were not on task.
"My favor..." she said slowly.
"Yes?" Claudia asked apprehensively, fully expecting it to be something horrible.
"You have to get your nails done with me," Alice answered with a grin.
"Oh, that's not even bad."
Alice shrugged. "Might as well do something we both like doing together."
"You're so sweet, darling," Claudia cajoled. "It's on me."
Alice laughed lightly. "Yay. I'm looking forward to it."
"As you should be. Your nails were looking quite crusty."
She lifted her hand up slightly to inspect them. "What? I still thought they looked fine."
"I'm playing. Let's go after school."
"For sure," Alice agreed before another thought dawned on her. "Wait. No... I have the talk show thing after."
Claudia covered her burst of laughter with a cough which Alice immediately kicked Claudia in the leg since everyone's eyes suddenly turned to them bringing even the teacher's attention over to their corner of the room. Alice gave the teacher an innocent smile which he wasn't buying but eventually turned back to the board.
Alice slid Claudia a look while holding in her laughter, and Claudia leaned her head onto Alice's shoulder. "Sorry. Rain check."
