Crossed Paths

They walked to the right of the gate into the quad following the crowd that was also making their way down to the end of the path had a large soccer field where the track wrapped around the grass field was for the mandatory physical education class which was a huge pain despite it being a nice intervention for a moment of fresh air than being stuck inside all day.

The field was kept extremely clean along with the track, and it was a nice place for lots of clubs to gather. Even when the weather was warm, she found her way over to the field here since it was well-kept and a great spot to sit down in the grass, but the quad was also a hot spot for those who wanted to lie down with the sun upon them.

There were metal bleachers set out for the game that had a lot of people getting ready to spectate, and Alice peeked over to look over at the guys who were out there in their colored straps to indicate which class they were on. It seemed that Alice's homeroom class had a baby blue band around their arms.

Alice scanned the guys that were present from her class which only had six guys gathered and didn't see Noah which was surprising since he would normally love to be a part of athletic moments like these.

He was good at everything which made people naturally gravitate towards him being a leader despite his somewhat calm demeanor that could be a menace at times.

She glanced down at her phone weighing it in her hands as she debated on texting him. Her curiosity won out, and she sighed as she pulled her phone out of her pocket and slid up on their messages. He hasn't texted her much after when he had called her which she appreciated because it would have been too stressful for her if he kept on reaching out.

He was often pushing back on the walls that she placed around herself or rather specifically around him, but he was surprisingly discernful enough to notice that she didn't feel comfortable with that kind of communication yet. She was rarely one to fret about such matters in the first place since she had never needed to text people on a daily.

Alice: There's a little soccer tournament today.

He replied almost immediately making her almost drop her phone, and Claudia sent her a confused look as they ducked their heads to try and make it over to the seats where some girls were sitting. She breathed in slowly as she read his reply and tried to think of a coherent reply that didn't seem as though she was constantly wondering where he was.

Noah: I heard of it.

Alice: I'm surprised that you aren't here. These are kind of your thing.

Noah: Would love to but wanted to drop in to check on my grandfather after school instead.

Alice: Sorry to be texting when with your grandfather.

Noah: You're all good. He is asleep at the moment.

Noah: Did the tournament start already?

Alice glanced up as she and Claudia took their seats in the front next to Sophie, Carissa, and Berlyn. She gave them all a quick hug before placing her phone back in her lap and turning her gaze back to the screen instead of the game that was before them. It wasn't starting just yet, but the timer on the scoreboard was slowly going down to signify when it would start.

Alice: Not yet. We have five minutes.

Noah: Betting that Rowan will take the win when I'm not there.

Alice smiled knowing that his big ego normally came out whenever they were together.

Not that she couldn't say the same since whenever she was with him it was either that her head got bigger since seeing him made her feel better about herself since he was so wimpy or losing some brain cells at his stupidity.

Alice: Oh really?

Noah: For sure.

Noah: He is planning on trying to play abroad after he got scouted.

Alice brought a finger to her lips as she remembered people talking about it. She didn't know much about Rowan except that he was a third-year transfer from another high school for his last year, and it was kind of a risky move after all since if things went downhill there was no way to reverse it, but Rowan seemed to be able to handle himself well.

He was popular because of his sharp looks that were a bit rough on the outside, but she could tell that he was a gentleman. The news spread fast after he was scouted by a national league which would only make sense coming from such a powerful school, but they had never crossed paths before.
