The rest of the tournament flew by in a flash since she and the girls kept getting up after that to get some snacks and drinks at the little corridor that had a ton of stands for food and whatnot during the games as a way to break it up from watching the games continuously.
Alice wasn't one to be in the loop for the athletic meets, but there was also a tennis meet on the other side of the academy that was attracting a lot of people which in turn made the crowd watching soccer grow in size unintentionally.
There were people that were just sitting on the field at this point which was fine as long as people didn't get too close to the white lines as the borders of the players on the field.
The unofficial soccer tournament was popular amongst the students which was no surprise due to the sheer amount of underclassmen showing up to support.
Alice shook up her soft drink that she was sharing with Claudia since they each didn't want to have a full one to try and break the ice inside.
She passed it over to Claudia when she stuck out a waiting hand, and Claudia kept her eyes on the ball as she drank some soda.
The baby blue team, a color that shocked and brought happiness when Alice saw the bands swaying in the wind, was unfortunately eliminated in the semi-finals.
Alice thought that the boys put up a good fight considering that they didn't seem to take it seriously, but in a way, if Noah was there to force the boys to go along with him, she thought that boys would have better form.
With a laugh, she was just glad that the guys in her homeroom enjoyed it. The only reason why they were staying longer was because Berlyn and Carissa asked them to.
Claudia handed the soda back over to Alice, and Alice grabbed the cup with her offhand before shielding her eyes with the other hand from the sun to see the red team stretch one last time against the purple team who were doing surprisingly well.
The purple team was Daphne's homeroom, and Alice was excited to see the outcome considering that they were here for longer than expected due to teams more often than not getting ties and having to do overtime.
The whistle blew one last time as the two teams began fighting it out, and Alice's mouth fell open when some students were shoved to the ground as they began getting rough. The cheers were getting more half-hearted as time went by, but when they saw Rowan back up, people were willing to give more support.
He was magnificent whenever he was with the soccer ball since he moved with such ease like it was barely a thought. Rowan took a shot near goal after beating all the defenders in little technical tricks that probably took a long time to master along with the agility to beat more than one person in general.
The goal sailed through the air with the goalie not even having a chance to save it since the moment the goalie turned slightly, the ball had already connected with the net, and there was a large scream amongst the crowd.
The games were fun to bring everyone together, but it was really only Rowan's show. Alice laughed at the thought as she clapped her hands together as the red team brought in their victory, and all the teams that had played together came out and bowed.
The lower division team's winner was the navy team, and with that announcement of the winners after tallying the votes, the tournament was finally over.
People went out to the field to chat with their friends and classmates for a moment to close off the games as all the equipment was put away. Alice stepped off the bleachers after tossing the drink into the trashcan after she and Claudia finished it and turned back to see the girls walking over to their homeroom gatherings.
She sighed and followed after Claudia, having to weave in and out of people before finding the guys from their homeroom who played.
Alice stuck up her hand and waved which caught Tristan's attention.
"Good job, guys," Alice said as they approached. "You all did well."
Tristan was still out of breath and nodded. "I thought we had a good shot at winning, but at least we got to see interesting games because of it."
Claudia sang. "How are you guys feeling?"
Daniel rolled his shoulders. "Tired."
"I don't blame you all," Alice said amiably.
Madeline got too close within her bubble out of nowhere and placed a hand around Alice's waist, startling her. Sophie slid a hand between her and Claudia completing the half-moon shape that they were all forming.
Alice laughed as Madeline clapped her hands together obnoxiously around her waist. "I have to say, good job."
The boys sighed when Madeline went on a tangent about how they could do better, and Alice and Claudia waved goodbye to them all since they needed to leave before the sunset and not get stuck in a long conversation that she knew was going to be so riveting.
