Alice didn't mind taking the stairs inside Carver Hall, but she didn't expect to be taking all five flights of stairs rather than just the two that she would normally do. Rather, one that most people just skipped for their convenience.
Her legs were starting to get heavy considering that it was a workout to go up the stairs at such a rapid pace since they were going after Claudia and Rowan, who were completely disregarding the quiet environment, instead of making their own raucous style.
She skipped the stairs two at a time to attempt and lengthen her stride trying to keep up with Noah since she didn't want to give out that she was getting tired in the sense that he was likely going to one-up her in most things that he does.
Alice knew that she was healthy, so she didn't care too much about getting up the full flight of stairs at a fast pace since she wanted to conserve her energy for the project that they actually needed to do.
However, it was funny how she knew that Claudia was in the same boat as she was since Claudia was out of breath, but Claudia was too busy making harsh comments while Rowan cracked her up by adding his own which made Alice's jaw drop in disbelief.
Once again, Claudia and Rowan proved to Alice that they could not be in the same room together, because as threats were getting thrown about, she covered her laugh with her hands since she couldn't bear for her dear friend to see that she was actually taking Rowan's side on this.
"You can't be wearing high heels in the dirt," Rowan argued.
"It doesn't really matter if they're platform," Claudia said as she stuck up her pointer finger as if she was teaching him. "What you're thinking of are stilettos."
"Still, when you're out on a grassy field, you would have to agree that it's not ideal, no?"
Claudia raised her eyebrow. "I would rather concern myself with the feet attached to your body. It seems to be walking away from you lately."
Alice understood the jab that Claudia made which stemmed from a crucial point back in the game that he had yesterday. There were some videos going around about how the usual star player got beat by the tricky footwork of an opponent.
She did see some on her social media, but she didn't think to press on it like Claudia would. With that said Claudia was practically asking for a fight. And both Rowan and Claudia kept on unintentionally picking up their pace.
Claudia ran her hand through her blond hair, making her luscious locks fall daintily around her shoulders before taking a bating breath to continue her words that just made Rowan groan out loud eliciting another laugh out of Alice.
It also didn't help with the fact that Claudia's words were so out of pocket. "Why do your shorts have to be so tight on the field? There's no reason for it to be. Like I can single curve and crevasse. Everything."
Rowan choked. "That wasn't intentional."
"Rowan, I could literally see..."
"Claudia, please," Noah cut her off in hopes of getting her to can it to no avail.
Futile charge on Noah's hand. As if Noah could get Claudia to stop as if Alice didn't already try her hand at it. Claudia sighed as she tried her best to keep her words to a minimum as they were nearing the top floor of the hall.
Noah stopped for a moment with his foot stuttering and looked back at Alice which made her turn over her shoulder as well only to see no one behind her as she made it to the step that Noah was on. "What?"
"Nothing."
"What? Just say it."
Noah shrugged, and Alice knew that he was just spouting off nonsense. It proved to be true when he randomly said, "I didn't realize that you were so short?"
Alice laughed. "Why are you saying that with a question mark? I'm not even short, Noah. I'm quite the average height."
"Hmmm, smaller than me is short."
"What a dense kind of logic."
Noah reached out when Alice lost her balance after going up the steps too fast. He grasped her arm as the panic in her stomach died down after the wrong step, and he shook his head. "Why do I always have to keep my eye on you?"
She rolled her eyes. "You don't. You can keep on going."
"Hey, guys!" Claudia yelled. "You can stop flirting, and hurry up!"
Alice gave out a long breath as did Noah, and they smirked at each other. Noah was the first to say something. "If I was flirting, you would know it."
"That's such a cliché statement, and you know it," Alice sang. "If I was flirting I would guarantee that I actually liked the person."
"So does that mean you like me?"
Alice coughed. "Oh, please. Don't be getting delusional now."
