Breathe With Me

Spinning around with the base of her foot for support, her hand instinctively reached out for him, yelling for him to stop as she immediately registered what was happening. Alice's wavy hair flew around her face from the gust of wind that drew him to her.

Her mouth dropped open in shock when she realized how close Mateo was to grabbing her arm, his fingers hovering in the air, but Noah was their divider, clenching onto Mateo's wrist hard enough to make the guy cry out in severe pain.

"I'm only paying back the favor," Noah muttered.

Alice yanked Noah's shirt back, fisting the material so tightly, creating creases into the pristine fabric, but he wouldn't move as an impenetrable fortress that was for brooding in the sense that it will bring protection but also disturb boundaries.

She didn't know what Noah was planning to do, but she needed to stop him before he did something even worse judging by his tense form that would escalate the situation into one that would get out of hand.

Thoughts were flying a thousand per minute in her mind. What if Mateo pressed charges? What if Noah gets suspended or even worse? She didn't need that on her record, and she would hate for those not involved to blow it out of proportion.

Normally, she wouldn't let that behavior slide, but she would rather not cause any more problems since they had so much ahead of them. They had their university exams just around the corner, and she would rather not have a pressing matter on her back.

She didn't want to waste her time and energy with the new people who were staring at her, and there was no way she was going to slide with a predicament attached to her name as well as the others.

Mateo didn't look like he was back down either despite the harsh grip Noah had him in anytime soon without getting the last word along with the spark of anger lighting up in his eyes, and his friends jumped up only escalating the matter even further with all of them yelling as they ran out of the study room quickly to see what was happening.

She kept on pulling on Noah's shirt trying to get his attention and admist Claudia yelling for them both to stop. Alice knew that he would never throw hands, but she was starting to doubt herself when he wasn't giving any leeway.

When she saw how Noah's mouth was ticking, in a split second when she saw that he was going to move, she frantically threw her arms around his wide back using her body weight to draw him back.

Rowan yelled pushing Mateo back before sending a glare over to Noah that Noah wasn't bothering to look at, but she couldn't tell since in a breath, Noah stumbled while she pressed her nose to his button-up shirt.

Alice patted his back trying to calm him down with her vision blackened with her closed eyes. She had no idea what was happening, but she needed to get Noah to cool his head fast. Pulling him back was never going to work, so she would have to try her best to do so in the position they were in right now.

Alice never saw Noah being a person who would immediately jump to being physical, but then again, Noah proved to be the most unpredictable person in her life.

He had a mild temperance most of the time with his blase attitude but to see him run hot at these moments made her realize once again, that he was a person in the sense that he wasn't perfect.

No one was, so it was unfair to assume that he would be so since she was holding onto that one piece of thread for so long now. And she had finally let it go. When? She couldn't remember anymore.

"Please breathe," Alice whispered. "Breathe with me."

Her hands were trembling while wrapped around his waist, squeezing him tightly and taking in his calm and clean scent, but she felt his chest rise and fall in sync with hers.

She needed to get a grip on herself rather than shivering like a leaf, but she never thought that she would ever have physical contact with Noah in a whole lifetime.

"Hey, hey," Rowan said with his arms extended front and back to put in the distance. "Everyone just calm down for a second."

Mateo shook his right hand. "Jesus. I wasn't even going to do anything."

Rowan stared at him with his lips pressed down into a flat line. "You can't act like that."

The idiot played innocent. "Did what?"

Claudia's jaw dropped. "You can't be treating us like that. Don't you even know your wrongdoings?"

Mateo lifted his hand to show the nasty bruise that was beginning to form. "Look at what Noah did to me."

Noah opened his eyes before pushing Alice forward and carefully lifting her hand that was red and starting to darken around her wrists. "Nothing more than what you have done to Alice. Now, all of you. Get out of here."
