Heady Combination

After letting her parents know that she would be late home, Alice flagged a taxi after she walked out to the main road. His place wasn't far, but it wasn't reachable by foot apparently. And it was true since the building of the luxury apartment complex was in a private area that was away from traffic and the rest of the people.

It felt odd knowing that she had Noah's personal information without his permission, but hopefully, he wouldn't be too distraught about it. She would drop off the envelope without another word, but she also couldn't stop herself from stopping by a nearby convenience store to get some medicine.

There was a feeling that she carried that made it seem as though he had no medicine waiting for him at home. With the good secured, she made it to the penthouse of the condo complex and knocked on the door. There was no one to be seen as she went inside the building, and she was surprised that his family didn't live in a large mansion.

Armed with the porridge she also bought, she knocked on the door. Thoughts were flying through her head so quickly. Alice had never thought herself to be self-conscious, but standing there idly was definitely enough to break down a person's strength. She steeled herself from the nerves. It was only Noah after all.

Minutes passed by before the door was propped open with a soft beeping noise to announce his arrival. A sleepy but surprised Noah appeared before her with a wrinkled black t-shirt and some grey sweatpants that were just a tad too short for him.

She had never seen this Noah, and she felt her insides start to melt. His face was tired from sleep, but his eyes widened in shock.

Alice waved the food and medicine that she had. "Hi. Can I come in?"

Noah opened the door wider for her. "Yes. Welcome in."

She brushed past him and stepped inside the entrance area that was separated by a sliding door. He grabbed some spare slippers for her while she took off her boots, losing her few inches, making her even shorter next to him. Noah took some items out of her hands, and she followed him over to the kitchen that was to the right.

All the lights were turned off but suddenly flicked on as they approached new areas. She was certainly in a high-tech place without even realizing it. Noah took out all the stuff from her bags while she fussed around him, bringing her head to his forehead to check and his temperature and what not.

Noah suddenly started laughing with his hands curled on the marble countertop. With the loss of his voice, it was more of a wheeze causing her to laugh slightly at the strange noise. "Am I still dreaming? What is this weird world crossover?"

Alice smiled. "Let's heat up the porridge."

"No, seriously what are you doing here?"

Alice huffed out a breath. "Some sheets for you that the teachers told me to give to you."

She opened her arms confused at what he wanted only for him to step closer to her and curl into her body. His scent was stronger here, and she breathed him in, pressing her nose to his neck. The familiar scent of his body wash to the candles that likely burned every day was a heady combination.

Noah was heavy, leaning all of his weight on her, and she smacked his back to get him to back off. It looked like he was still delirious. The porridge was going strong in the microwave, and Noah let go of her as she reached forward to grab the porridge that was almost done only to drag her back into his arms.

"Let's go to your room," Alice said as she grabbed the porridge. "Grab the medicine on the island too."

"How did you know that I had no medicine?"

"I could tell, Noah."

No more words were exchanged as he led her to his room which was located at the end of the hallway. The room was dark with all of the curtains drawn, but she could still see the interior of his room well.

His bed was pushed to the far end of the room with a desk to the right side. His closet was facing the desk on the other side with a small table in the center along with a rug.

Noah sat down on the edge of his bed with his legs stretched wide and his hands clasped in the middle while Alice got work to measure out the amount of medicine that he needed to take on the table.

She glanced up to see him watching her, and she said softly, "Lie down. You need to get your rest."

"I think that my fever broke," he said hoarsely.

Alice nodded. "You're still a little warm though. I'll grab another damp towel for you."

She passed the medicine to him. "Take it."
