To Alice, From Noah

Noah woke up refreshed. Breathing from his nose. Not feeling like he was dying with a pounding headache and unbearable coldness. The morning daylight lightly streamed into the room from the window that was shining on the person who was sleeping leaning on his bed with no care in the world.

He put the towel that fell off of his lap into the bowl that was set to the side of the nightstand, and Noah got out of his bed only to gather Alice in his arms to place into his bed so that she could get better sleep. It was likely uncomfortable in the position that she was sleeping in with her neck tilted like that.

Alice was going to have a crick in her neck, and Noah massaged the area lightly, but the bigger question was that he couldn't remember ever letting her inside. He felt like he was going to die then, but an angel showed up on his doorstep having everything right at her disposal all for him, and him alone.

He put Alice on the bedside to the wall and brought the covers up to her chin after he took off the school uniform blazer. His eyes skimmed her slim form and found it funny that she was still wearing her thick blazer on top of the white dress shirt. She was in his flannel pajama pants that were rolled heavily at the waist.

She was likely cold to keep her blazer on, but he moved over to his closet to grab a black hoodie for her to sleep in since she did run cold most of the time. He lifted her head carefully.

He cradled her neck so that she had some support as he slipped the oversized hoodie over her. Puffs of air continued to steadily leave her mouth, sleeping undisturbed.

Noah honestly that that he would be sick for a longer time since he normally couldn't shake off the sickness once he got it, but it must have been to Alice's help that he was able to recover quickly. It wasn't that he hated to take medicine, but that he forgot. It wasn't like it was a priority when he had other things to do.

His parents were still doing their own thing, and it just so happened that their paths never crossed. Noah knew that it was for the better, but some people didn't get it.

Alice did, but she struggled with not wanting to cross over the line. He wasn't too bothered by the nature of his family's relationship. It was doomed in the first place.

Noah tried to find his phone, looking all over the place. He checked the underneath his bed where his phone liked to fall through the crack of the headboard and did a once over at his desk to the rest of the room before giving up and sitting back on his bed, the mattress slightly dipping from his weight.

He had little memories of Alice forcing him to eat and take the medicine though which made his lips curve into an amused smile. Noah normally didn't see Alice's pinched expression and pursed lips.

She was always portraying a distinct image of herself that was prim and proper, and the teary eyes that she had made him second guess everything.

The conversation that they had last night was still in his head, and it was funny how that was the only thing that he remembered combined with the random other snippets of when he had just woken up in between intervals for something.

Her red cheeks were the true explanation as to what happened last night, so he would have to ask to check with her.

Most of his memory was hazy, but he knew that it was comforting to have Alice there with him. It was almost as if she was a dream come true in that moment when he was going delirious with pain and tiredness.

Her eyes were a bit puffy which made sense with the soft tears that slid down her cheeks as she tried to hide her face.

If he did something irredeemable, he would never forgive himself. But considering that she was still here was saying a lot due to her personality. She normally would not bother caring for someone. Alice mumbled in her sleep, and Noah brushed a hand down her hair making her slide closer to him.

Her face was pressed to his side, lost in her dreams peaceful, and Noah knew that he couldn't win the fight to lay down rather than go sleep on the sofa like a gentleman. He slid under the sheets and tucked her soft form into his body. She immediately huddled closer with her head going to the crook of his neck.

He knew better than to wrap his arms around her and pull her in so that they were so close that there was no space between them. If Noah had the choice, he would always stay in this position hands down. Dipping his chin so that it rested on her soft hair, he hummed to himself at the odd change of them.

Noah closed his eyes in effort while Alice kept on snuggling into his body trying to get in a more comfortable position. He was trying to fight a losing battle with her so close to him.

To be fair, if Alice was there, he was already done for. It had already been a long time since he had given in. It left him wondering if she would ever give in too.
